Malcon I berpangkalan di markas Sektor Timur iaitu di Kem Koukaba, Lebanon yang dikelolakan oleh pasukan dari Sepanyol dan membuat tugas keselamatan di kawasan sekitarnya.
Antara tugas khas Malcon I adalah menyediakan perlindungan keselamatan kepada konvoi pertukaran kontinjen serta logistik Sepanyol sehingga Beirut.
Untuk itu dalam sesuatu operasi, Malaysia antaranya akan menghantar pengiring dengan kekuatan trup kereta perisai APC Condor dan pasukan tindak cepat (QRF).
Selain itu, Malcon I juga melakukan pengawasan pergerakan keluar masuk kumpulan Hizbullah di Sungai Litani.
Daripada sejumlah 360 anggota ketika ini, jumlah itu dijangka akan bertambah pada masa depan.
Ketika ini, (Jun 2008) penugasan diambil alih oleh Malcon II yang turut diserta anggota wanita.
