Hussein and his wife to be, were forced to attend the festival in order to obtain a marriage certificate. Fascinating look at a culture being silenced and yet exploited for its rich and colourful traditions.

De Sovjet Unie bestaat weliswaar niet meer. Maar buiten beschouwing de fouten - waarbij je vooral naar het einde toe kon vragen, is dit nog socialisme - was het altijd nog een symbool van hoop voor een betere wereld, een betere toekomst. Het was het eerste keer in de geschiedenis sinds de commune van Parijs dat het volk zelf de macht in handen nam.
In dit lied, beschouw het noemen van de Sovjet Unie als de hoop van de vele toen en de hoop nu voor een andere wereld. Die zeer zeker mogelijk is. Het kapitalisme blijft ons aanvallen. Er is een afbraak van sociale rechten en voorzieningen in rap tempo aan de gang sinds de jaren 90 van de vorige eeuw. Maar het socialisme begint ook weer sterk te worden, want men beseft steeds vaker dat het anders moet. Cuba heeft al 50 jaar stand gehouden onder constante bedreiging en een embargo door de VS, maar begint weer te bloeien. De revolutie van Fidel Castro, het Cubaanse volk en de strijdgeest van Ernesto Che Guevara leeft voort in de revoluties in Venezuela en Bolivia. In Cyprus is zelfs een Communist als president verkozen. In oost-europa groeien veel echte arbeiders partijen weer. Na jaren onderdrukking hebben de communisten in Nepal de dictators kunnen vertrouwen en wonnen de democratische verkiezingen. Nu zijn ze in Nepal hard bezig met de opbouw van sociale rechten en de emancipatie van de vrouw en Holebi 's (Homoseksuelen, lesbiennes en biseksuelen).
De Communistische Partij in Nederland begint goed voet te krijgen, ondanks de zware tegenstanden wat het kapitalisme en de burgerlijk linkse partijen (zoals PvdA, Groenlinks en zelfs SP) naar de echte linkse 'revolutionairen' gooien. Die ons ook willen laten denken dat de strijd gestreden is en de toekomst aan het kapitalisme is, met hoogstens hervormingen. De grootste leugen is dat kapitalisme mogelijk is met een sociaal gezicht, want het zal altijd weer vervallen in zijn beginsel: uitbuiting, onrecht en verval van de solidariteit. Dat is precies de aanval dat op de socialistische beweging wordt uitgevoerd, om onze strijdlust te doden. Nee, de toekomst is nog niet verloren, hij komt pas als wij er voor willen en durfen vechten!

Ja, ik heb er her der ook over gelezen. Ook hier. Maar het is gewoon zo, dat het in onze cultuur de omgekeerde wereld is. In andere landen is de vrouw min of mee onderdrukt en hier heeft de man hier in feite helemaal, maar dan ook helmaal niets te vertellen. Nou en? Het leven is er nu eenmaal in een brede verscheidenheid. En in de verscheidenheid kun je nu eenmaal de sterkste zijn of de zwakste. Of de slimste of de domste. Dat is in de natuur ook zo. Ik zit er ook niet mee."

One quick Google search on "egg donation" will demonstrate how prevalent the ads are to "make dreams come true" or "help create a miracle".
Women on Ivy League campuses across America and poor women from around the world are being heavily recruited to "donate" their eggs to fertility clinics and now for cloning research.
Sadly, egg donation has less to do with altruism and more to do with the exploitation of women--particularly young women and often poor women who are usually facing large debts or just trying to make ends meet. Egg donation puts women's health and safety at risk. Newer trends in fertility medicine are moving away from current practices which are harmful to infertile women but neglect the nameless, faceless egg donor women.
People of all political and religious stripes have organized all around the world to call attention to the risks of egg donation practices.

Abortion Clinics Concealing Statutory Rape and Child Abuse. View TV news report exposing Planned Parenthood and clinics concealing sexual exploitation of young girls. On a daily basis older men exploit young girls and use secret abortions to cover up their crimes. Hear Planned Parenthood staff in many California cities (and other states) caught on tape telling a 13-year-old girl that they will conceal her sexual exploitation by a 22-year-old predator. No young girl should undergo any invasive medical procedure performed secretly by an unknown person at an unknown location. Help protect young girls from sexual abuse. Learn why those who cover up this crime are responsible for future victims. Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation have made a conscious decision to conceal the sexual exploitation of underage girls and protect the men who commit these crimes. The rate at which these two organizations fail to comply with mandatory reporting laws is in excess of 90 percent. Even though many of these clinic workers openly acknowledged that this situation is illegal and that they were required to report it to the state, the overwhelming majority readily agreed to conceal this illegal sexual activity. It was not uncommon for the Planned Parenthood or National Abortion Federation representative to warn callers that if someone were to find out about this situation her boyfriend could go to jail. In states with parental involvement legislation often callers are informed about this option while also being instructed not to tell the judge about the age of her boyfriend. In some instances these employees even encouraged her to lie to the judge if specifically asked for that information. Other employees advised her that neighboring states have no parental involvement requirements and that if she went there and either concealed or lied about the age issue, she would have no problem getting a secret abortion. In some calls she was given instructions on how to circumvent the parental involvement requirement altogether, even to the point of suggesting that she bring someone along to sign for her who looked old enough to impersonate one of her parents. Sometimes callers are told that, technically speaking, the clinic was required to report this activity to the state but that if the caller would either lie about her age or just keep her mouth shut when she came in for her abortion no one would ask any questions. Several times callers are told that the facility had no interest in the ages of the parties involved or that they do not verify ages or check IDs and would accept whatever she told them at face value. Unfortunately, situations like those described here are neither rare nor isolated. In the end, the vast majority of Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Federation facilities that contacted were willing to illegally conceal the sexual abuse. In every case, the clinic representative had never met this child, knew virtually nothing about her, had only engaged in a brief telephone conversation with her, and was told nothing to indicate that her parents would be abusive if they discovered the sexual relationship. Nevertheless, these clinic workers were willing - and in many cases eager - to help hide the fact that teens are being sexually exploited from her parents and the authorities. Toward that end, they provided step-by-step instructions on how to circumvent state laws that were enacted specifically for the purpose of protecting children exactly like her, in situations just like this.
