The video demonstrate the most commonly used override tag in TextSub - {\pos(x,y)} and then its cousin, {\move(x1,y1,x2,y2)} After each change, CTRL-ENTER is hit to see what the new change did on screen.
Note that they are simplest of commands from the rudimentary typesetting skill set. Master typesetters/karaoke specialists are actually more like programmers and computer graphic artists -- and they have an insane amount of time to learn.
Superb typesetting takes much longer time than all other fansubbing jobs and requires the most brain power ~ that's why I stopped doing it, cause I'm not just not smart or quick enough =)

We present the general mechanism by which logical content, arranged in multiple interacting containers, can be typeset into a set of visual substrates. The overall algorithm is iterative, with the successive iterations refining a multi--dimensional context that parameterises the behavior of the algorithm.
Each iteration consists of three parts. First, each visual substrate is informed which parts of which logical containers are to be placed thereon. Second, in parallel, the content placed in the substrates is typeset. Third, the resulting layout in each substrate is assessed for goodness, thereby resulting in the refinement to the overall context.
In the talk, we will present the theory and the practice behind this algorithm.

LyX is a document processor following the self-coined "what you see is what you mean" paradigm (WYSIWYM), as opposed to the WYSIWYG ideas used by word processors. This means that the user only has to care about the structure and content of the text, while the formatting is done by LaTeX, an advanced typesetting system. LyX is designed for authors who want professional output with a minimum of effort and without becoming specialists in typesetting. The job of typesetting is done mostly by the computer, following a predefined set of rules called a style, and not by the author. Specific knowledge of the LaTeX document processing system is not necessary but may improve editing with LyX significantly for specialist purposes. DP explains how he uses this tool...
