Album Dark Passion Play is going to be released next day. The Media hassle has been enormous already. How is the record going to sell? According to Tuomas anything can happen, I usually always guess wrong. It was absolutely wondeful to play with the symphony orchestra, etc.

This is a brief excerpt from the 2006 Finnish documentary Maan mainiot on Tuomas Holopainen, the songwriter and keyboardist of the metal band Nightwish. Tuomas is playing the soundtrack of The Village on his keyboard and explains why it's his favorite movie.
Translation below is courtesy of Tika and Morrigan. I've added and revised the subtitles myself and uploaded it for my English utopia/dystopia project on the 2004 movie, The Village. :)
I think that is perhaps the most beautiful soundtrack ever made.
And the most beautiful movie.
The Village.
In the beginning of the year, when I was going through difficult times, it was hard to keep on track with what was happening when there were all kinds of trouble and drama.
More than in the last ten years altogether.
That movie helped me through that.
I remember that I watched it at least ten times a week.
Some days two or three times.
That movie is a great example of escapism.
I would be ready to move into that village any time.
(Also, please note I had a similar video up earlier but deleted it because I've finally been able to make the subtitles larger and closer to the bottom of the screen. I'm sorry if the subs don't match up with what Tuomas is saying - my Finnish is terrible!)

T.H:She`s gonna go thro kinda hell..when we`ll make public her name.I can just imagine.Charisma is a thing...It`s difficult to fill Tarja`s boots.When entering the stage she must fill the stage.
Q:Has any of the canditates been an audition yet?
T.H:It`s too early to talk about it.We want to finish the process in peace and introduce her when the time is right.
Q:That meaning some have?
T.H:I didn`t say that.
Q:be honest...Have you had regrets of firing Tarja Turunen?
T.H:No.Never.
Q:Why?
T.H:It was such a big decision and we did think about it such a long time and from many angles.You don`t make a decision like that on short notice,not even a weeks or months.It was extremely sad case,but that`s life.On the behalf of the whole band I can say that we`ve never had any regrets.
Q:What kind of relation you have at the moment?
T.H:It`s been quiet.
Q: Have you phoned?
T.H: No.Haven`t talked since.
Q:In the book the impression that is given of Marcelo Cabuli is quite monstrous.It says he`s dishonest,almost criminal.Was that a conscious decision?
T.H:You should ask the author.The thing I wanna emphazise is that even I read the book as an outsider.About 20 persons were interviewed for the book,I being one of them.Everything in the book is the authors view on the basis of his interviews.
When I read it I was like "wow" occasionally and I didn`t get the feeling that anybody was demonized in it.All involved get their part both in good and bad.
Q:Are those contracts,made by Tarja and Marcelo,as senseless as is said in the book?
T.H:What`s in the book is true and have foundation.
Q:Has Tarja Turunen accepted the book?
T.H:Again,you should ask the author about that. At least she hasn`t asked us anything,like "may I read it?" I reckon she wanted to read the parts concerning her,but I`m not sure about that.
Q:After reading the book,do you believe your relations get worse because of it?
T.H:I don`t think our relation got any better after last October.We haven`t been in any contact at all.Papers write what they like.If they write we`ve reached amity,it`s overstatement in this case.
Q:Are there any legal actions from either of parts at sight?
T.H: No,not at moment.
Q:Is that possible?
T.H:Everything is possible in this world.I`ve noticed that several times.Lets hope there will not be any and each of us would go forward with our lives.I really hope that from the bottom of my heart...looking forward,not back and one could finally smile,genuinely.
Q:You are busy at the moment.Tell me what you`re doing now and the summer to come?
T.H:The last 6 months I`ve been making new songs like 24/7. All song for the next album are made,demos done and at the beginning of June we start practicing with the band,doing demos and in September the studio is calling.
Q: Is it possible you don`t find a new singer and,for example,Marco would be your vocalist?
T.H: This is quite puzzling thing...I was in germany two weeks ago,doing over hundred interviews and in almost everyone of the i was asked that same question.
That has never occurred to my mind.As good a singer Marco is,the band will always have a female singer.

He is the best keyboarder because he is writing so incredible beautiful music and texts! He is the dreamguy, in many of his fans eyes, but do we know the true identity behind those sparkling, mysterious eyes? ;-)
He truly is the best on his thing! This guy knows what he is doing, and he is VERY good at it as well! To honour him I made this tribute with pics and some videoclips, put together to the excellent song Amaranth from their new album! Hope you will enjoy it!
After all those Rammstein-tribute's I have made (2006-2007), I now felt that Tuomas needed a place in my hall of fame most of all! He is very much worth it! What a musician he is!
OBS: Today (7th of August 2008) I changed the name to "the best songwriter" instead of "the best keyboarder", which have been the name of the video for soon a year!
BECAUSE
of some hazzling about if he is a good keyboarder or not, and the fact that he actually wants to call himself "a song-writer" rather than " a keyboardist"!

Okay, this video is so random that I think I need to explain. Ive been planning to do my Tuomas video for long, but its been very hard, to picture him in a video...he is so much more than this. First I tried to do different song mixes, but nothing felt right untill I decided to use this instrumental of tpatp. I love it, though vocals and lyrics are very important to me, I feel that "Tuomas is really singing" when I listen to this. I cant describe the beauty of this song.I would have loved to use the whole song!! But it is too long.
About my clips....I guess only a true obsessed fan girl/boy will understand why there are clips of Christina Ricci in sleepy hollow, The village, Beauty and the beast/Belle. Lets just say that they are special to Tuomas.. =)
Oh and Tuomas, if you ever see my video, dont freak out. Im not obsessed in a wrong way, hih, and Im not your stalker (or am I?). I dont want to over glorify you...I know you are" a normal man," but I just love your music the most in this world. And I respect/admire you as a poet and a deep thinker with good heart. As a Finn Im very proud of you and your amazing band Nightwish, your music will always be remembered.
