Los 400 golpes(1959) es la opera prima del cineasta francés François Truffaut, y una de sus mejores obras de su filmografía. Se considera la primera película del movimiento que surgió a principios de los 60 denominado Nouvelle Vague, a la que pertenecían directores como Jean-Luc Godard o Eric Rohmer. Truffaut ganó el premio de Mejor Director en el festival de Cannes. Los Cuatrocientos Golpes relata la vida de Antoine Doinel, un adolescente parisino que convive con los problemas conyugales que sus padres no se atreven a afrontar y las exigencias de un severo profesor.

| Godard and Truffaut: In Defense of Henri Langlois (1968) - 60 sec
Henri Langlois, Georges Franju, and Jean Mitry, founded the Cinémathèque Française (a Paris-based film theater and museum) in 1936 which progressed from ten films in 1936 to more than 60,000 films by the early 70s. More than just an archivist, Langlois saved, restored and showed many films that were at risk of disintegration.
Henri Langlois made an important impact on the French 1960s New Wave directors, including François Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Jacques Rivette, Claude Chabrol and Alain Resnais among others, and the generation of filmmakers that followed. Some of these filmmakers were called les enfants de la cinémathèque ("children of the cinémathèque").
In 1968, French culture minister André Malraux tried to fire Henri Langlois by stopping funding of the project and the Cinémathèque, allegedly due to Langlois' arrogance and iron-fisted rule. Local and international uproar ensued, and even the prestigious Cannes Film Festival was halted in protest that year.
This is an announcement made in 1968 by Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut like support to Langlois.

it's just an ironic situation in which is subverted as women contradict themself!

unrequited love...
Antoine Doinel was recaptured after his escape (seen in "The 400 Blows"), but released at age 17 to work in a factory making LP records.
He meets Colette (Marie-France Pisier) at a concert, and becomes infatuated with her. He mounts an ill-fated attempt to win her love (he wins over her parents), but at the end of this (semi-autobiographical) short, Colette brings home her latest beau and Antoine settles for another evening watching TV with her parents.
the film ends with the song "When you're 20 and in love!"
