Jorge Ben Jor is a Brazilian popular musician, born in Rio de Janeiro on March 22, 1942 (some sources say 1940). His characteristic style fuses samba, funk, and rock into samba-rock, with lyrics that blend humor and satire with often esoteric subject matter.
Biography
Born Jorge Duilio Lima Menezes, he initially took the stage name Jorge Ben after his mother's name (of Ethiopian [1] origin), but later changed it to Jorge Ben Jor (commonly written Benjor), allegedly in response to an incident where some of his royalties had accidentally gone to American guitarist George Benson.
Jorge Ben obtained his first pandeiro (Brazil's most popular type of tambourine) when he was thirteen, and two years later, was singing in a church choir. He also took part as a pandeiro player in the blocos of Carnival, and from eighteen years of age, he began performing at parties and nightclubs with the guitar his mother gave him.
It was at one of those clubs in which he performed that his musical career took off. In 1963, Jorge came on stage and sang "Mas Que Nada" (or "no way") to a small crowd that happened to include an executive from the recording company, Philips. One week later, Jorge Ben's first disc was launched.
The hybrid rhythms that Jorge employed brought him some problems at the start of his career, when Brazilian music was split between the rockier sounds of the Jovem Guarda and traditional samba with its complex lyrics. But as that phase in Brazilian pop music history passed, and the entire world became captivated by bossa nova, Jorge rose to prominence.

A operária Silvana é abandonada grávida pelo namorado, Vítor, que morre. O tempo passa e se inicia o tumultuado caso de amor de Silvana com o jogador de futebol Luca, causado pelo gênio esquentado dos dois e pela presença de Verônica, que joga seu charme e poder sobre Luca. Mas a complicação maior é por parte do pai de Verônica e Vítor, Oliva, que arma uma verdadeira guerra pela posse do neto Zeca.
Fugindo do cerco de Oliva, Silvana vai morar na Vila dos Prazeres, onde entra em contato com a família da viúva Bina, proprietária da cantina italiana La Tavola de Michele. Silvana passa então a ser cortejada pelos dois filhos mais velhos de Bina, o romântico e tímido Marco e Luca, um azarado centroavante que perambula por diversos times da várzea de São Paulo.

No último capitulo, quando é mostrado um gol de Luca pelo Corinthians, as cenas foram gravadas em um jogo de verdade. Quando o time corintiano fazia um gol, o ator Mário Gomes saia comemorando como se o gol fosse dele, para surpresa dos jogadores reais. Já no inicio da novela, são mostradas algumas cenas de Luca treinando no Santos Futebol Clube, levado pelo personagem de Nuno Leal Maia, ator santista na vida real.
O ator Mário Gomes tinha fama de ser bom de bola, se destacando nas "peladas" dos artistas, fato que fez com que o papel de Luca ficasse sob medida para ele.
O ex jogador de futebol Juninho Fonseca, da seleção brasileira de 1982 participou em um capítulo da novela em uma cena com Mario Gomes.
