Creationists and Transitional Fossils - 529 sec
There are more than enough sources showing transitional fossils, and explaining why they are considered transitional, so I won't spend too much time listing them here. Instead, this video will focus on the reasons creationists have for dismissing these transitionals. I intend to show how these reasons are illogical, unscientific and still leave transitional fossils as evidence for evolution, and against creationism. Most of the quotes in this video can be found here: Answers in Genesis on Acanthostega: http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v15/i3/missinglink.asp Alan Feduccia on Archaeopteryx: http://discovermagazine.com/2003/feb/breakdialogue Duane Gish on transitional fossils: http://www.icr.org/index.php?module=articles&action=view&ID=379 Harun Yahya on partially formed features: http://www.harunyahya.com/new_releases/news/tiktaalik_roseae.php CreationWiki on Tiktaalik: http://creationwiki.org/index.php/Tiktaalik CreationWiki on Archaeopteryx: http://creationwiki.org/index.php/Archaeopteryx CreationWiki on mosaics: http://creationwiki.org/index.php/Archaeopteryx_is_fully_bird_%28Talk.Origins%29 CreationWiki on dinosaur to bird evolution: http://creationwiki.org/index.php/%28Talk.Origins%29_There_are_gaps_between_reptiles_and_birds

Tulane: Beth Dougherty on Transitional Justice in Iraq - 2241 sec
Sect, Trials and the United States: Searching for Transitional Justice in Iraq Far from promoting justice or reconciliation, Saddam's trial and subsequent execution exacerbated the sharply divisive narratives of sectarianism and occupation that are driving the violence in Iraq. The Iraq High Tribunal faced a complex political environment that posed stiff challenges to its ability to deliver transitional justice, including the legacy of politicized successor trials and deep sectarian and ethnic divides. Moreover, its proceedings were subject to constant interference from the Iraqi government, and took place as Iraq slid ever deeper into conflict. The Bush administration's conflicting goals for transitional justice in Iraq -- it wanted both a fair and legitimate process and the execution of Saddam -- led it to midwife an Americanized Iraqi court that was ill-suited to meet the challenges of post-Saddam Iraq. Beth Dougherty is Manger Professor of International Relations and Associate Professor of Political Science at Beloit College. She received her MA and PhD in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and did her undergraduate work at Chatham College (Pittsburgh, PA) where she majored in political science. She joined the Beloit faculty in 1996 and teaches a broad range of international politics courses, including Middle East politics, African conflicts, human rights, U.S. foreign policy, and international law and organizations. Her current research focuses on transitional justice mechanisms such as international criminal tribunals and truth and reconciliation commissions. A 2003 Fulbright Scholar to Denmark, she spent four months at the Danish Institute for Human Rights in Copenhagen conducting research on international justice issues. She has made three trips to Sierra Leone since late 2003 to follow the work of the Special Court for Sierra Leone. She has published on a wide range of subjects, including Iraq, transitional justice in Sierra Leone and Iraq, ethnic conflict, and pedagogy. Professor Dougherty's articles have appeared in International Affairs, Security Studies, Middle East Policy, African Studies Quarterly, Active Learning in Higher Education, PS: Political Science, and International Studies Perspectives. She and Edmund Ghareeb are the co-authors of A Historical Dictionary of Iraq, which was named a Best Reference Source in 2004 by Library Journal. Professor Dougherty has also received both campus and national awards for teaching, including the 1999 Underkofler Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (Beloit College), and the 2001 Rowman and Littlefield Award for Innovative Teaching in Political Science, awarded through the American Political Science Association.

From tent to home (transitional shelter in Indonesia) - 1084 sec
On December 26, 2004, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, triggered a series of massive tsunamis that devastated communities in 10 countries surrounding the Indian Ocean. In July 2005, as the full extent of the destruction became clearer, aid agencies and governments realised that the rebuilding of lost homes would take many years. Basic infrastructure had been destroyed and most of the already inadequate building and housing documentation had been lost. A severely traumatized population remained largely displaced and aid agencies were stretched to the limits of their capacities. Between July 2005 and November 2007, the International Federation's transitional shelter programme built 19,923 shelters in 392 communities in Indonesia, providing high quality accommodation for 80,000 beneficiaries. This was achieved through the collaboration of 35 national and international implementing partners. More information: http://www.ifrc.org/tsunami/ Year: 2007 Duration: 18 minutes 3 seconds

Transitional Fossils - Fish to Amphibians - 323 sec
Transitional Fossils: Fish to Amphibians The following is a small collection of fossils that show the transition between fish and amphibians. This slideshow is in no way comprehensive; nor is it meant to give an in-depth description of each fossil shown and the differences between them. This video is simply intended to illustrate that transitional fossils exist, and are abudant. Note: The fossils in this video are not presented in chronological order. Before I begin I feel the need to give a definition for what a transitional fossil is: "A transitional fossil or transitional form is the fossilized remains of a life form that illustrates an evolutionary transition " (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitional_fossil) Fossils Displayed (dates are approximate): [375 mya] Tiktaalik roseae [395 mya] Osteolepis macrolepidotus [385 mya] Eusthenopteron [385 mya] Panderichthys [368 mya] Elginerpeton pacheni [360 mya] Hynerpeton bassetti [363 mya] Tulerpeton curtum [360 mya] Acanthostega gunnari [363 mya] Ichthyostega [295 mya] Eryops Pitures: All pictures in this video came from searching the internet using google. Yes, he actually bragged about his GPA as well as winning some argument with a professor and regaining 60 points on some assignment presumably. I am a bit arrogant if you can't tell, however I simply will not lower myself to such a level by taking part in this "My pecker is bigger than your pecker" routine. For a good laugh you should also Check this out! This is from the hate mail sent into stardestroyer.net. Tell me if you can see the similarities. http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/HateMail/Stewart/index.html Kevin, Since you are a physicist, if you make an offer to clarify something that physics covers I will consider your offfer. However, it is likely that I have more training in biology, chemistry, and geology than you do since I persued a biology degree before switching to environmental management. I have also studied paleontolgy ever since I could read, meaning ever sice I was 4 years old. Ithas been a long passion of mine. On top of that, I have studied ocenaography and ichthiology since I was 8 and intended to make it my career until I discovered as I was applying to the Scripps institute of Oceanography (After 2 years attending the University of Colorado)that most PHD's of oceanography make less than a manager at McDonalds and have tons of fun fun fun student debt. I have enough college credits to have multiple bachelor's degrees, but only enough specialized to have 2 associates degrees and 1 bachelors. I have studied everything from cellular and organismic biology to genetics, inorganic and organic chemistry, anthropology, oceanography, economics, agronomy, astronomy and cosmology, zoology, mathemmatics, world history, Amercian history, English, lieterature, business, crimial justice, toxicology, industrial processes, HAZMAT, and many subdivisions of each of these fields, including many upper level courses, including graduate level ones. I have made the national deans list while attending college full time and working full time in the army. My cumulative GPA is 3.6. I have done genetic engineering, operated a nuclear reactor, and designed self-sustaining enclosed environments. I have had a variety of works published, mostly in local publications. I have a hefty education about evolution. I also reject evolution because the evidence is so weak and can be interpreted in so many ways that it is an unfounded theory. I have challenged my professors in several classes and won when my arguments were brought to arbitration by an univolved professor, in one case raising my grade 60 points based on the strength and logic of my chalenges that were graded down simply for not toeing the professor's line. Disagreement is not an indicator of ignorance. It is an indication of a different interpretation of teh same evidence and a willingness to examine it more closely and not simply accept what I am told at face value as though it were gospel like so many people do without a single thought of their own. Perahps my assault on the dimwittedness of some people was unneccesary, but it was certainly deserved. If a Creationist were to make an equally idiotic arguent you would not simply let it slide. Imagine someone sayig "the devil put those fossils in the ground to decieve us". It is no more or less moronic than caliming thta all fossils are transitional, and yet you would not claim that a person who assaults that bit of foolishness needed your help because he just didn't grasp creation, and neither would I. That person is an idiot who deserves to be destroyed. If I appear foolish at times for taking on some of the most egregiously stupid arguments of Darwinists it is not an indicator of my understanding, it is an indicator of the comprehension level of those Darwinists. They deserve a sound drubbing even if other Darwinists refuse to believe their fellows could ever actually be that utterly retarded. And yes, I am working on communicating verbally as well as I do in writing, typos aside, lol. One of the easons I took a break from evolution was because I was getting so caught up in debunking the mornic statements made by individuals that I was ignoring the bigger picture. Evolution vdeos I have alrwady prepared will get more into the hard topics, and they deal with the subject more directly. Daniel Levesque

Transitional Tetrapod Fossil - 234 sec
Tiktaalik, from the Inuit word meaning "large shallow-water fish," had a flexible neck. This is significant because in modern tetrapods like amphibians, the head is separated from the body, whereas in fish it is not. Although Tiktaalik still had gills, it had lost the bony gill coverings that fish use to fan water and promote oxygen intake. This suggests that the "fishapod" may have been at least partly air-breathing, like modern tetrapods. Further, although Tiktaalik clearly had fins, the well-preserved bony, wrist-like arrangements near the tips of the fins suggested that the animal could push its body up off the ground, offering support much like a foot does. These fins, though still used for swimming, were clearly precursors to legs.

RUTH Reformers Unanimous Transitional Housing - 599 sec
You need to have flashplayer enabled to watch this Google video We are currently serving 140 men and women in the Schools of Discipleship. However, the women's program currently occupies one building and has nearly 30 women crowding in a facility with 12 bedrooms and 4 showers. Our experience has shown us that it has become increasingly important for women to have assistance in overcoming their addictions and support with their efforts to get their lives back on track. Those who have been through numerous programs with no lasting success do not possess the inner strength or support systems to overcome the addictions by themselves and they are at the end of their rope. And with the increasing availability of drugs and alcohol and the number of women whose lives are entangled therein, it has become increasingly important for women to have assistance in overcoming their addictions. By providing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual assistance to these ladies in an intensely disciplined, yet safe environment, RUI not only improves their prospects for individual achievement, but also helps to contribute to the long-term stability and safety of the local community.

Transitional Fossils Redux - 281 sec
The YouTube contributor ddrninjette has been kind enough to point me to a Creationist video on YouTube that pretends to discuss transitional fossils. That video is titled quote "Evolution vs. Creation: Transitional Forms # 3" unquote, and was posted by a YouTube Creationist named "OneLessAtheist." http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ad3Wddn7Rt8 That video is an excellent example of what I mean by Creationists being intolerably insulting to a person's intellect. In brief, that video says that scientists expect to find fossils that no scientist actually expects to find, and then the video insists the lack of such fossil finds disproves not merely evolutionary theory, but evolution itself. That is not just insulting: it is deliberate deception--- a knowing and premeditated lie on their part.

Tsunami operation faces of recovery: Nimmi's story - 124 sec
Sri Lanka - J.C. Nimmi's story: from transitional shelter to her new home As the tsunamis swept across vast tracts of land around the Bay of Bengal, they took with them virtually everything in their path, including large, strongly built family homes and businesses. Destruction in many affected regions, particularly close to costal fringes, was almost total. Few dwellings were spared. Millions of people were affected -- hundreds of thousands of people lost their homes. To provide shelter for such a large displaced population presented a significant challenge for the entire International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. People left without adequate shelter are exposed to increased hardship. Providing shelter for such a large population required a rapid response and a massive mobilisation of resources. From across the affected counties and around the world, materials to provide temporary shelter arrived. Although this aid can never replace the homes and the memories contained within them, temporary shelter provides one of the vital elements of disaster relief, beginning the process of recovery from disaster for people who have suffered greatly. The reconstruction of the houses destroyed by the tsunamis requires planning, coordination and community consultation. It is vital that houses rebuilt are located on land where ownership is established and that the house designs reflect the affected population's needs. Because of this, temporary living centres, which are often rapidly constructed in response to a natural disaster, need to be comfortable and compliant with international standards. While conditions in these centres are clearly not as comfortable the homes they temporarily replace, they do provide shelter for families while their new homes are being built. After careful planning and discussions with affected communities, the process of reconstruction of houses, schools and health centres destroyed by the tsunamis is ready to begin. Of course, the complete rehabilitation of affected communities will take many years, and the International Federation has outlined its plans for the region up until 2010. Nevertheless, as more needs emerge, the Federation is in a strong position to assist over a longer term, and to not only help communities rebuild their lives, livelihoods and economies, but also to prepare more thoroughly for the next emergency in this disaster-prone region.
