| 34067 Torbay Express. 21.09.2008 - 288 sec The penaltimate Torbay Express of the 2008 Summer season was hauled by 34067 Tangmere in stunning weather conditions. However the number of shots were not up to usual standard for various reasons.
The final shot of the loco at Woodrow Barton was shot with a wide angle lens that fellow cameraman David Oldham wanted me to try out. The result is obvious in the video and thus the lens won't be used again lineside. Dave says sorry.
Enjoy. Auteur : PhilipGriffin1234 Tags: Steam Train 34067 Tangmere Locomotive Torbay Express Wellington Bank Shaldon Woodrow Barton 21 September 2008 |

| 34067 Tangmere on the Last Torbay Express of the 2007 - 303 sec Authentic Scenes from the late 1950's in this sequence as 34067 Tangmere finally was allowed to flex her muscles on the final Torbay Express of the 2007 summer season on Sunday 9th September 2007.
The first 2 shots of an ex-Southern Loco on the Great Western Mainline Sea Wall, takes us back to a time when Southern Locos used to run once per day in each direction in order to maintain reoute knowleadge, should the Southern Line to Plymouth via North Devon be disrupted by weather.

| The Torbay Express Finale September 2008 - 420 sec The three month long Torbay Express comes to its conclusion. Southern unrebuilt Battle of Britain Class 34067 Tangmere hauls the last three Torbay Expresses on the 7th, 21st and 28th September.
Starting with the opening shot of a heard of native Deers in the grounds of Powderham Castle. 34067 makes it up for lost time as she swiftly speeds along the Exe estuary after being delayed due to signal problems at Whiteball.
At Dawlish Tangmere chokes up a thick clag, as the fireman had shoved alot of coal in the engine as it enters Kennaway tunnel. At Teignmouth the sea is rough and Tangmere emerges out of Parsons tunnel battling its way along the sea wall at Sprey Point.
Sunset is looming over the Teign Estuary and the Bullied pacific trottles its way along the river bank through Teignmouth. Speeds past Dawlish Warren and along the Turf canal towards Exeter, were it continues on to Bristol.
This was one of the few days were the sun was able to shine as summer had come later than expected.
With special thanks to David Oldham and Philip Griffin who I teamed up with to get the charters. Dave decided to fool me by saying that Tangmere failed at one point and was diesel hauled, that turned out as a joke and he fooled me around!! Thank you Dave!
I also thank Andy (my dad) for taking me to Powderham to see me film the last sequence of the day. Auteur : GreatWestern175 Tags: torbay express 34067 tangmere southern bullied pacific sea wall majestic sceneries |
| 34067 Tangmere, The Torbay Express, 28 Sept 2008 - 546 sec The last running of the "summer" Torbay Express was no disappointment, with wonderful autumn light augmenting a(nother) day of drama featuring 34067 at her best (and worst?). Passing Aller Junction without incident, confidence must have been high for another trouble-free unassisted climb on the P&DR to Churston. What a difference a week (and crew?) makes? as we watch from Broadsands beach, the laboured climb and final stall in the trees just short of Hookhills viaduct reminds everyone that light pacifics were never designed to pull heavy loads over gradients like this. However, the cavalry ride to the rescue in the form of 5239 "Goliath", and nothing could have been more suited to the job. I swear that even if the train brake had been left on, 5239 would still have dragged the whole lot to the top - a truly awesome demonstration of GWR pulling power! In increasingly hazy light, Tangmere makes amends with a full regulator acceleration from Kingswear, after being held frustratingly at the lights, the crew had to make up for the shortened run at the bank, resulting in a spectacular show. Light was seriously failing at Preston, but the church bells accompany 34067 through the hazy conditions, taking me back to my childhood watching steam hauled trains at this very spot, where the only thing missing was the smell of Sunday dinner on the breeze!! | #909 Works Evo - Targa 2008 Prologue - Stage 3 (Torbay) - 185 sec In-car footage from car #909, the WORKS/Evolved Performance Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX RS. This clip is from the Prologue, Stage 3, the second run through Torbay. I was actually much faster on the first run through, due mainly to what became a spectacular save when we got very sideways through some gravel. I was a little thrown off after that, so lost my concentration. ;-) Fun clip regardless. Auteur : evolvedperformance Tags:2008 Car Evolution IX Lancer Mitsubishi Newfoundland Race Rally RS Targa |
| Torbay Express hauled by 34067 Tangmere 9th September 2007 - 504 sec Having decided to restore my bestest Torbay Express film, I decided to make it into a much clearer and higher resolution.
This is were the fun ends! The Torbay Express returns for its last run of the summer of 2007, 34067 Tangmere hauled the Express after its air brake was repaired.
Though it did not go as expected on that run to Kingswear as it gets stuck at Goodrington bank and gets assistance from P&D's 2-8-0 to haul it to Chursten were it carries on from there, which I filmed all the evidence! Here are the footages of 34067, struggling and stuck on the bank, its rescue and the last Torbay Express of the summer Auteur : ryskinner Tags: 34067 tangmere torbay express past time rail paignton and dartmouth railway line |
| 34067 Tangmere hauling the Torbay Express July 6th 2008 - 600 sec The return of the popular Torbay Express for 2008 was hauled by SR Battle of Britain class 34067 Tangmere from Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear and return.
For the first time since 2003 the Torbay Express had 9 coaches all raked in full livery, choclate and cream livery which would give an authentic look if the service is to be hauled by a Castle or King class loco.
All goes well for 34067 to Paignton, however it got banked up by the P&D's Class 25 diesel as they didnt want any repeats to last years slip up!
The engine gets turned, serviced and watered up for its return trip. The Bullied pacific screams through Dawlish in repeat to what it mighta done if the route to Plymouth via Okehampton and Tavistock was to closed due to engineering works nearly 50 years ago.
At its former home in Exeter St Davids the loco has trouble trying to leave as the valve gear in the loco got stuck 'dead centre' hence its why the driver reverses slightly to get her to move forward. As it manages to pull its stock outa the station, but then it makes two slip ups that erupt the station!!
Note to JBTEvans: The P&D ran a single service for the day hauled by 5239, I didnt film it as 34067 was a more important subject, plus P&D shots woulda been too long to add in this film. | Torbay Express 27th July 2008 - 624 sec As I was running a bit late, the 27th found me again heading for Newton Abbot station to see Ex-GWR King, no.6024 'King Edward I' hauling the Torbay Express. The king made a brief stop, before pulling away for the Torquay Line. The Loco slipped leaving the station, moving forward just enough not to grind the rails. A quick move to the Public Crossing at Cockwood to see a few service trains pass before finally moving a little further up river to Starcross to see the return TE.
