Sixth Estate is a collective avant-garde. It seeks to understand and promote a critical view of our world. A critical perspective produces analysis of problems and idenifies critical elements and processes that require attention. Where possible the Sixth estate will link the personal and the political. For example, Single parent women are by vast majority living in poverty and their children suffer the effects most, Given their developmental needs poverty effects our children most.
I say our children because in the absence of appropriate care the state reserves the right to remove that child from his /her parents. The specific policy instruments and processes are numerous,
Income security measures: in the tax system, to EI to Social assistance
Child welfare measures: Local-Provincial-Federal Programs Childrens Aid Societies and law and regulations
Participants in the Sixth estate tend to actively, but generally peaceably seek out change through the application of its own collective positive energy. (See Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Frerie for a concise read on the topic.) Among the most consistent proponents of this approach to socio-political organizing has been Liberation Theology.
Liberation Theology is a "Bad Boy in Theo-political terms". LT operates from the context of a conservative religousity and presents the case for empowerment of everyday people (gods on the bus trying to make our way home), particularly in the catholic It tends to advocate on behalf of and help promote the Fifth Estate using the sanctuary of First Estate. The sanctuary provides a phenomenological and ontological context to both inform its emergent theology and reform its continually emerging social context. Liberation Theology seeks to unite the positive spiritual energy of formerly separated classes or groups in society. The core of Liberation Theology and related works are twofold: Consciousness Raising and Empowerment.
1Consciousness Raising-This is the process of helping one another think at a higher and more powerful level of abstraction. CR seeks to take lived/experienced problems by 50 people and reduce them to 1/50th a problem, with 50 people working together to solve that problem. Helping people see their world in more sophisticated manner is at the core of the educational and political agenda of the method.
The other four are conceptualized as: Clergy (First Estate), the nobility (Second Estate), the middle class (Third Estate), and the press (Fourth Estate)[1]. It can also be used to describe media that sees itself in opposition to mainstream (Fourth Estate) media.
The 6th estate. The 6th estate is Integral in its orientations. By integral I mean its reports the news taking account of everything else in relation to what ever one's current topic. A theory of everything that relates to a theory of one.
