The film »Skiing 7 Summits« features a story about a first-ever skiing expedition to the 7 highest mountains of all continents, including the first ski descent from Mt. Everest. Slovenian extreme skier Davo Karničar, the first man ever to accomplish such a feat, completed this project in December 2006.
His extraordinary skiing descent from Mt. Everest in year 2000 has likewise not been repeated yet. Other skiers, including Kit DesLauriers, managed to ski only sections of the descent or were either assisted by rappelling or carried their skis on foot across the cruxes of the route.

The Indian economy's growth rate has averaged above 7% over the past three years, yet future expectations for growth are even higher. But, while much of India's growth (over 60%) comes from private sector spending, India still faces development challenges. For instance, agriculture contributes 25% of GDP while employing 70% of the population. So just how will India prepare its growing young population for new jobs, across other industries, which are required to drive growth?
BT attended the 22nd India Economic Summit in New Delhi in November 2006, which focussed on preparing India's growing young population to drive growth further forward. François Barrault, President, BT International, addressed the delegates at the summit on the topic of "IT and Telecommunications: Time to think ahead" and their future in India.

Final push to the summit, the hardest thing I have ever done. Evening summits are rare. It was 4 hours up with two breaks, a cold hour on top, and 4 hours down, which was actually harder than going up (for me, anyway...).
Pause at 5:15 to see the shadow of the mountain in the sunset. The full moon is just to the right.
Sorry, not many chances for photos and film on this stretch. Managed to nab a few rocks off the summit.

The aim of this initiative is to strengthen regional cooperation between the European Union and the countries bordering the Mediterranean based on the Barcelona Process and the EU's Neighbourhood Policy, by launching the "Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean".
The Union for the Mediterranean is a new political initiative which will be based on practical projects. It will give a triple boost to the Barcelona Process by:
- enhancing the political dimension of relations between the EU and its Mediterranean partners;
- confirming the shared responsibilities in our multilateral relations;
- promoting practical projects which will enable citizens to appreciate the strength of the ties that unite the two shores of the Mediterranean.
Heads of governments from countries in the EU and around the Mediterranean met in Paris today for a summit. The e initiative should also give new political impetus to Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, for example by instituting bi-annual summits and creating a co- presidency and a secretariat.
