La produzione di Morricone annovera inoltre una nutrita schiera di composizioni che non sono nate per il cinema e che rientrano nel genere della musica contemporanea: opere teatrali, lavori sinfonici e per solista e orchestra, composizioni corali, musica da camera, ecc.
