Russian illegal checkpoints in Teklati and Samegrelo

In Teklati and in other regions of Samegrelo Russian occupants continue building and strengthening of illegal checkpoints. Today morning Russian soldiers brought concrete blocks, steel wires and wood materials for the construction of new illegal checkpoint. Occupants have also set anti air attack installations on the checkpoints.
Yesterday additional heavy machinery entered the territory of Gali, 32 tanks, 40 armored vehicles and 50 cars with troops. Bringing of military inventory is still going on. It is already known that with help of Russian soldiers Abkhazian separatists are getting ready to build 3-meter high wall across the administrative border. Georgian side requests immediate intervention of international observers so that the situation could be evaluated on site.

Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of Georgia declared September 1 as the day of unity of Georgia. Mikheil Saakashvili stated the following in his address held on Rustaveli square. This is how Tbilisi looked like today during `day of unity` event - `Stop Russia`. Georgian citizens standing in chain and holding each other's hands in almost every major streets in Tbilisi were best seen from helicopters.
Peaceful demonstration with the slogan STOP RUSSIA has begun in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia earlier than it was scheduled. 1.5 million of people appeared to join the national protest against Russian occupation.
500 pigeons were flown in the air symbolizing peace on freedom square.

More than 20 000 Gurians have stood in chain to support unity and terrritorial integrity of country. Live chain was made in Samegrelo from Enguri bridge. Local residents gathered in Zugdidi and Senaki in support of Georgia.
