I used an underwater case to protect my digital camera. I used the video mode for the camera. The video is from a beach south of Cap Spartel in Morocco, called RCA by the French because of the radio antennas installed there by the Americans in WWII.

Samuel Hoffman's RCA Theremin - 208 sec
Dr. Samuel Hoffman took his 1929 RCA theremin with him when he moved from New York City to Los Angeles, California, in 1941. He eventually became world famous as "The Hollywood Thereminist" and the distinctive sound of his instrument can be heard on the soundtracks of over 40 major motion pictures of the 1940's and 50's. Alfred Hitchcock's SPELLBOUND (music by Miklos Rosza), the SciFi classic THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (music by Bernard Herrmann) and Cecile B. deMille's perennial THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, are just a few of the movies in which this theremin can be heard. I acquired this unique vintage instrument from the Hoffman family in 1998 and have carefully maintained it and enjoyed playing it ever since. It sounds today just the way it sounded when the late Dr. Hoffman played it at the "Casino In The Air" on top of mid-town Manhattan's Hotel Montclair in the 1930's. In order to give the camera a better view of the inside, for the purpose of this video, I removed the two cabinet doors (which normally remain closed). I am playing French chanteuse Edith Piaf's hit from the 1940's, LA VIE EN ROSE.

RCA Noise Cancelling Headset/ RCA Quality/ Walmart service - 166 sec
(music is royalty free.. bless the open source community and those who share) This video is based on my customer experience with an RCA product I bought at Walmart, and learned just how much (or how little) Walmarts refund policy was designed to help me as an honest customer who trusts they are buying a quality product, when they take my American money. Customer review: I bought an RCA noise cancelling, dynamic sound, ear swiveling, computer, headset from Walmart. I believed RCA was a good name that would only allow quality products to be distributed. So when I bought this RCA headset at a Walmart, from the electronics department near all the other computer equipment, I trusted it was a great product and well worth a nearly $25 price tag. It looked great and produced great sound. It was however uncomfortable the way the headphones squeezed into my head, as the inward force around my ears, hurt a bit. I tossed the receit and had full intentions of adding this headset to my electronics collection for life. As I usually take great care of my products, I should expect to get atleast a few years out of these swivel headphones. I stored them safely, each time they weren't in use. I was careful in handling, each time, but one day after owning them for just more than a month, they broke. The material and construction of the design is obviously not made to support itself in a real world standard practical use situation. Then, Walmart did not want to give me my money OR store credit over the incident. Of course, they took my money when they sold this defective product, though. I respectively reasoned with them but it was going nowhere, as they tried to shuffle me out the line, and on to some other place where I wasnt impeding on the progress of and undermanned customer service department, where the lady had no tolerance for debate. If I didnt have the receipt at a minimum, I was just SOL! I was not going without a valid explanation as to why she wouldnt make right of a situation in which her store took my money and gave me a defectively designed product and expected me to sit on this dead product and kiss my money goodbye. I asked to speak to the store manager, as this gate keeper obviously had no ability or interest in using common sense and thinking outside of the most common procedures she had come across in all of her infinite experience as a customer relations employee in customer service. I suppose thinking about what exactly is happening, is a waste of time, when routine is at stake. After that, she called another low level manager, who was quick to agree with the other. After protesting longer, I got the run around a couple times. Finally, an employee, looked at his list of other store numbers in the region and made a quick phone, call to retrieve the upc. Then he walked me up to the front, and told the customer service, all it needed to do was process the refund, with this accurate upc number, and because the item is defective, it will go in a defective bin in the back of the store with apparently all the other misfit products to be sent back to the manufacturer. Because the product would not be stocked or restocked, that should have had no influence on the refund. Shortly after I received a refund, in the form of store credit of course, and left. I won't buy headsets or any other electronics at Walmart, again. I would have told this story to Walmart or RCA headquarters, but I suspect I would just get generic apology form with my name filled into the title. Then, I suspect they would categorically mislabel me as a rarity and a hard to please customer, without proper evaluation and real concern. And this is my review and why I love the internet, because honest customers like us have a place to tell others about what exactly we went through. Good luck to all of you.

Julius Goldberg's 1929 RCA Theremin - 233 sec
When Leon Theremin, the inventor of the theremin, came to America in 1927, he brought with him his assistant and business partner, Julius Goldberg. The RCA theremin you see in this video belonged to Mr. Goldberg, and he made several modifications to it over the years. He had custom "lightning bolt" antennas made for it but as you will see at the beginning of the video, I do not like using the jagged pitch antenna, and replace it with a standard RCA antenna before beginning to play. Goldberg also preferred a tone color that is closer to brass and reed instruments and altered the voltages that feed the vacuum tubes so his theremin would sound more trumpet-like than the standard RCA's. I believe he made these changes because he performed regularly in New York City in the early 30's and he may have thought the instrument had more audio/visual impact with his modifications. Up until the early 1980's this theremin remained the property of Julius Goldberg's widow who lived near Poughkeepsie, New York. The song I am playing is HYMNE A L'AMOUR (one of French singer Edith Piaf's biggest hits) written by composer Marguerite Monnot.
