[...] At Lajatico, there also was Nicola Piovani, Oscar Awardee, a phenomenal composer and successful pianist. [...] Finally, on the stage with me was the very young Charice. She had been one big surprise to everyone. Some months ago, I was invited to participate in a TV show in the United States. I was in the dressing room when I was called to listen to this amazing revelation by the name Charice. With much skepticism, as was usual with me in these situations, I went to listen to her while she sang on the set, and I was so filled with emotion. She was still a young girl, having just turned 16, but she was truly a force of nature, and our interpretation in duet of "The Prayer", I believe, showed all her giftedness. In any case, the whole event at Lajatico tried to show what could possibly the best. The natural scene of the place was extraordinary. And the audience grows bigger by the year, with guests arriving from the various parts of the world. This truly touched me, making me all the more desirous to begin soon enough preparing for the next edition of the show.

The voice of Noa, so austere and yet so warm, seems to have been made especially for the Theatre of Silence. On that stage with Bocelli, she sang an excerpt from the song "La Vita è Bella" ("Life is Beautiful"), leaving the audience so absorbed, so raptured, so touched. This was precisely the goal of such a show, which only concern was supreme quality. Perhaps for this reason, Nicola Piovani immediately accepted the invitation of Bocelli to direct the orchestra here at Lajatico [...].
But after everything has been said, the greatest surprise of all was Charice, the dimunitive 16-year old Filipina who was such a wonder. The people soon understood that description when she began to sing "The Prayer" in duet with the tenor. She sang as if the song were her very own: she took hold of it, controlled it, and so received on stage a warm ovation from the audience. If she ever succeeds in overcoming the effects of the "circensian phenomenon" that she still displays (for example, she sings "I will always love you" almost in a way superior to Whitney Houston, but without still enjoying a similar fame), Charice will be a great discovery. From the roof of the world, she should be able to remember also the applause of that night at Lajatico, in the midst of the breeze at the small, quiet village of Andrea Bocelli.

[...] Infine sul palco con me è arrivata anche la giovanissima Charice e quella è stata una sorpresa per tutti. Qualche mese fa sono stato invitato a una trasmissione televisiva negli Stati Uniti. Ero nei camerini, quando mi sono venuti a chiamare per farmi ascoltare questa sorprendente rivelazione di nome Charice. Molto scetticamente, come al solito in questi casi, sono andato a sentirla mentre cantava sul set e sono rimasto molto emozionato. È ancora una ragazzina, visto che ha appena sedici anni, ma è davvero una forza della natura, e la nostra interpretazione in duetto su The prayer credo abbia dimostrato tutte le sue doti. D'altronde, tutto lo spettacolo di Lajatico ha cercato di mostrare al meglio le sue qualità. La cornice naturale è straordinaria. E il pubblico, che cresce sempre di più e arriva da tutto il mondo, mi ha lasciato commosso, facendomi venire ancor più voglia di iniziare già subito ad allestire la prossima edizione.
