This was filmed in Amsterdam February of 1977. "Colour My World" was written by Chicago trombone player, Jimmy Pankow. This is the original band and includes the vocals of Terry Kath. The flute solo is performed by Walt Parazaider. Robert Lamm is playing piano. Very nice. Enjoy!

Chicago- It Better End Soon - 463 sec
This was filmed "live" at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA on July 21, 1970. "It Better End Soon" was written by Robert Lamm, Terry Kath & Walt Parazaider (flute solo ONLY). This song was written in response to the ongoing war in Vietnam. Terry Kath's vocals (the "preach") changed nightly. There's quite a bit of ad-lib. Not to mention, that his guitar solo also changed nightly. It was a different time and these guys didn't feel like they were stuck in a box or that every moment of their performance had to be well thought out, preconceived and totally choreographed. Enjoy!

Chicago- Introduction "Live" 1993 - 381 sec
This was filmed in Toronto on June 21, 1993. 1993 was the first year that Chicago performed this classic since the death of the great Terry Kath. Oddly, it's also the only Kath-written tune that the band has ever performed since his death. This concert was performed "in the round". It's a Rock n Roll microwave oven! The footage and audio are actually pretty good for an audience recording. The camera was covered a couple of times while security was walking by. The band was smokin' hot during this time. This version of "Introduction" ranks up there amongst my all-time faves. Robert Lamm: Portable Keyboard Jimmy Pankow: Trombone Walt Parazaider: Sax Lee Loughnane: Trumpet Bill Champlin: Keyboards & Vocals Jason Scheff: Bass Tris Imboden: Drums Enjoy!

Chicago Just You & Me Japan 1993 - 406 sec
Chicago performs the James Pankow composition "Just You & Me" in Japan in February of 1993. Walter Parazaider delivers an amazing soprano saxophone solo. And check out the rythym and comping backing up Walter. My favorite piece comes at about 5:04 with a shot of Walter, Robert, Bill and Jason totally into the jam. An incredible performance by Walter. Also, check out the fun banter with Jason, Dawayne and Tris.

Chicago (the band)- In the Studio 1994 - 230 sec
This is a rare glimpse into the making of a 'Chicago' album. This is the guys rehearsing their parts for "In the Mood" that would be the most memorable (and performed) song on the 'Night & Day' album that was released in 1995. The footage was shot in Vancouver, B.C. in December 1994. The usual suspects: Robert Lamm James Pankow Lee Loughnane Walt Parazaider Bill Champlin Jason Scheff Tris Imboden You'll notice a guitar player that you might not recognize. His name is Bruce Gaitsch. Bruce is a dear friend of the band and a very talented musician. In fact, he plays nearly 90% of the guitars that you hear on the 'Night & Day' album and the soon-to-be-released 'Stone of Sisyphus'. Just a little trivia... the 'SOS' album was to be released in 1994, but it's taken 14 years to release it! Enjoy!

Chicago- Alive Again "Live" (1978) - 237 sec
This was recorded on October 25, 1978. Guitarist/Vocalist/Founder, Terry Kath, died on January 23, 1978. Chicago appeared at the Grammy Awards as presenters on February 23, 1978. Only Walt Parazaider did not attend. This was their first public appearance as a group on TV. They wanted to show the world that they were gonna stay together. This performance was the first time that the entire band would perform for the world (They had been playing concerts for around 2 months in the US). The band introduced guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Donnie Dacus on this night. Donnie would not last in the shadows of Kath. He was with the band for about 1 year and 10 months. "Alive Again" was the first single off of Chicago's twelfth album, "Hot Streets" (1978). It was their first album to feature a name and not a number. The band also shed the logo and their images were placed on the album's cover. They also had new management and a new producer. Many changes occurred in light of Kath's death. This song was written by trombonist James "Jimmy" Pankow and it reached #12 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. Enjoy!

Chicago Canon and What Kind of Man Would I Be - 368 sec
The Chicago Horn Section, James Pankow, Lee Loughnane and Walt Parazaider perform Jimmy's composition "Canon" from Chicago III. Then, Jason Scheff delivers a stunning performance of his song "What Kind of Man Would I Be" from 19 - 20 playing the keyboard. Lee joins Jason part way through for some nice muted trumpet work. This is from the acoustic set in year 2000.

Chicago- Harry Truman - 190 sec
This clip is from Chicago's New Year's Rockin' Eve 1975. This song was written and sung by Robert Lamm and reached the American Top 20. He wrote this song after reading a book named 'Plain Speaking' by Merle Miller who died in 1986. This was a much more light hearted approach at addressing American politics for Robert Lamm. This song was kind of a novelty in 1975. It obviously rode on Chicago's previous and current hit ride. However, this song has not stood the test of time. Some feel that it's message has. Others do not. It's up for debate... just not here ;-) You could say that this song truly peaked on the Summer 1975 "Beachago" tour. Chicago and the Beach Boys performed this song in Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium to a packed house of Truman adorers. KC was the home of President Harry Truman and the place where he died, just two years earlier. This song has not been performed since. Robert Lamm's vocals are "live". Everything else is prerecorded. It's funny to note how sincere Jimmy Pankow is in delivering his "lip sync" trombone solo. Walt Parazaider makes light of his solo. Terry Kath is the real clown by holding cue cards for the audience. This clip is very rare and I'm thankful to have it to share with everyone else. Enjoy!

Chicago Performs Free on Live By Request - 258 sec
For their 35th anniversary, celebrated on A & E Live By Request, this was truly a party for Chicago. What a great night for the band. Chicago performs Free as their finale. Walter Parazaider delivers a great sax sole. And Keith Howland plays great rythym guitar.

Chicago- Sweet Marie "live" 1984 - 304 sec
This was recorded in Tokyo, Japan on 1/10/1984. "Sweet Marie" was written by Bill Champlin for the 'Chicago 17' album. However, this song didn't make the album and got "cut". Rhino recently re-released 'Chicago 17' with bonus material. It was advertised that this song was to be included on this reissue. Again, this song was "cut". All of a sudden, 23 years later, this song has become quite sought out by Chicago fans. Here's your chance to not only hear the song... but, see it performed. "Sweet Marie" features Bill Champlin on vocals and a rather impressive sax solo by Walt Parazaider. Credit where credit is due. Every blind squirrel... I also really like Chris Pinnick's guitar solo. I am not a fan, but his "tone" on this is a perfect compliment. This song has great energy and should have been released in some format... Enjoy!

Chicago- Make Me Smile - 247 sec
This is footage of the band performing one of their hits, "Make Me Smile", only 3 months after it hit the Top 10. Infact, it was their first big hit. So, this footage is obviously very old. It was filmed on July 21, 1970 at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA. This features the original band which included Terry Kath, Peter Cetera & Danny Seraphine. The other four musicians still tour as 'Chicago' with their replacements. Quite nicely, I might add! Enjoy!

Chicago- 25 or 6 to 4 "Live"- (1970) - 355 sec
*PLEASE READ FIRST* The audio on this returns to 100% around the 1 minute 20 second mark. They had some technical difficulties at the start. Sorry about that. This is truly a YouTube *exclusive*. I've been saving this one for a personal milestone. This is my personal gift to you all who have sent messages and left so many kind words on the video comments page and the many Chicago message boards. I've enjoyed doing this for you all. Now, enjoy a truly rare and unseen performance of the boys from the "Windy City". Thanks!

Chicago (the band) Takes the Stage- "Beginnings" (1977) - 552 sec
The music starts about 3 minutes in. I thought the whole thing was worth seeing. "Live" shows have changed so much. It's hard to imagine musicians coming on stage and tuning their own instruments. "Beginnings" is from Chicago's first album and it was written and sung by Robert Lamm. Enjoy!

This was filmed at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago, IL in November of 1972. Chicago performed an entire week of sold out performances at the ACT. "Saturday in the Park" was written by Robert Lamm and can be heard on their 1972 'Chicago V' album. Enjoy!
