BELOW IS::: the original letter that was sent by me to about 30 of my friends and business associates!
Hi everyone,
I'm sending this mass email out to anyone who may want to help me in purchasing a nice gift for someone who is very special to me! And someone who deserves something special!
For those who do not know, I dated a girl named Rachel all through college. During our junior year summer, she was studying abroad in Spain. Long story short, she noticed a lump in her neck and it turned out to be a massive cancer tumor which was surgically removed right there in Spain! The next year was a nightmare for her including multiple chemotherapy rounds and radiation treatments; the whole nine yards! Hair loss, nausea, pain, you name it... Eventually she came into remission and although we stayed together through her entire ordeal we slowly drifted apart in a romantic sense after she was well, but we still remained close friends.
Fast forward three years... The cancer is back and more serious. She is, at this very moment, laying in a hospital bed recovering from the hardest month of her life where she had to undergo high dose chemotherapy and then a daring stem cell transplant which will hopefully cure her of this horrible disability. She's doing much better and will likely be getting out of the hospital soon, even though she is still very sick. She'll be doing radiation treatments again this august.
So the point is, I want to congratulate her for getting through that exceptionally tough high dose chemotherapy and radiation by purchasing her a gift! I know exactly what she wants, and although it may seem silly to some of you, to her it would mean the world. What she truly wants is an Apple Laptop... probably that new Air one thats really thin and light so she can easily carry it around to class with her.
The base cost is $1700, which I don't have just available to give away. I'm shooting to raise $2000 though, because with that much money I can get her all the parts that she really needs for it to work the way she'll want it to. Things like an external CDROM drive (because the Air doesn't have a built in one), an Ethernet adapter, and last but not least, the Works suite which will give her word processing software, because as you may or may not know, she loves to write!
So thats it. I'm asking for $5, $10, $100, or more! Whatever you want to give to help me make this happen as soon as possible. Don't feel like your being pressured, I don't even remember all the people I included on this thing to be honest and its all on BCC so nobody will know that you didn't donate anything! haha
