Leonor Fini (August 30, 1908, Buenos Aires—January 18, 1996, Paris) was an Argentine surrealist painter.
She was born in Buenos Aires to an Italian mother and an Argentinian father. Her mother left her father before Leonor's first birthday. She took the child to her home in Trieste, Italy, where LF was disguised as a boy whenever she left her house for the next five years in order to foil kidnap attempts by her father.
After leaving Trieste at the age of 17 to paint a family's portraits in Milano (where she had her first painting exhibition) she relocated to Paris in either 1931 or 1932. There, she became acquainted with, among many others,Paul Eluard, Max Ernst, Georges Bataille, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Picasso,André Pieyre de Mandiargues, and Salvador Dalí. She traveled around Europe by car with de Mandiargues and Cartier-Bresson where she was photographed nude in a swimming pool by Cartier-Bresson. His photograph of Leonor sold in 2007 for $305,000 - the highest price paid at auction for one of his works to that date.
She painted portraits of Jean Genet, Anna Magnani, Jacques Audiberti, Alida Valli, Schlumberger and Suzanne Flon as well as many other celebrities and wealthy visitors to Paris. While working for Elsa Schiaparelli she designed the flacon for the perfume, "Shocking," which became the top selling perfume for the House of Schiaparelli. She designed costumes and decorations for theater, ballet and opera, including the first ballet performed by Roland Petit's Ballet de Paris, "Les Demoiselles de la nuit," featuring a young Margot Fonteyn. This was a payment of gratitude for Fini's having been instrumental in finding the funding for the new ballet company. She also designed the costumes for two films, Renato Castellani's Romeo and Juliet (1954) and John Huston's A Walk with Love and Death (1968), which starred 18 year old Anjelica Huston and Moshe Dayan's son, Assaf.
She once said, "A woman should live with two men; one more a lover and the other more a friend." She then proceeded to do so. Stanislao Lepri, an Italian diplomat when she met him, left the diplomatic corp to live with her and painted. Approximately five years later Constantin Jelenski, a Polish writer joined them.
In the 1970s, she wrote three novels, Rogomelec, Moumour, Contes pour enfants velu and Oneiropompe. Her friends included Jean Cocteau, Giorgio de Chirico, and Alberto Moravia, Fabrizio Clerci and most of the other artists and writers inhabiting or visiting Paris. She illustrated many works by the great authors and poets, including Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Baudelaire and Shakespeare, as well as texts by new writers. She was very generous with her illustrations and donated many drawings to writers to help them get published. She is, perhaps, best known for her graphic illustrations for Histoire d'O.
It has been said about her that she is the only artist to paint women without apology. Many of her paintings feature strong, beautiful women (many times resembling herself) in ceremonial or provocative situations. Men are often portrayed as lithe figures who are under the protection of her females. The sphinx and cats play major parts in her paintings, as does the theme of 'the double.' She was equally adept at etching, drawing, watercolor and oil painting. She lived with many cats; up to a total of 23 at one time. The illness of one of her cats could send her into a deep depression.
A biographical song about Leonor Fini's life is featured on Welsh artist Katell Keineg's 1997 second album, Jet.

Madrid (España), 16 jun (EFE).- La infanta Leonor, segunda en la línea de sucesión a la Corona española, tras el príncipe Felipe de Borbón, cursará sus estudios, a partir de septiembre, en el mismo colegio que lo hizo su padre.
Al escoger el nuevo centro escolar, el príncipe Felipe y la princesa Letizia han querido optar por un colegio que siga el sistema educativo español, que sea laico, aunque imparta enseñanza religiosa, y al que acudan niñas y niños.
La infanta, que el próximo 31 de octubre cumplirá tres años, acudirá al centro Nuestra Señora de los Rosales de Madrid, donde estudiará desde primero de educación infantil hasta el bachillerato, informó hoy un portavoz de la Casa de Rey.

Mrs Leonor Villagómez Cordova is a cheerful butcher in the small town of Matucana, Peru located about ninety minutes from Chosica and another ninety minutes to Lima. She used your loan to help her butchery business grow. Mrs. Cordova buys live cows, bulls, pigs, and chickens. Her husband helps on the purchasing side of the business. Capital is essential in this step, as you can imagine, because one cannot buy only half a live cow. Leonor and her husband have also recently built a carrel to raise their own pigs. Once the cows and bulls have been slaughtered outside of town, Mrs Cordova transports about 100-150 kilos to her house in town. She has a machine that helps cut the meat (including bones) into manageable slices, a scale to create kilo-specific bags of meat, and a large refrigerator to store the meat. Since her house is only two blocks from the central market, she can bring smaller quantities from there to her butcher stall throughout the day.
Since receiving the loan, Mrs. Cordova’s situation has improved. The extra capital has allowed her to buy more animals and thus increase the amount of meat she can sell in the market. She charges 8 soles a kilo for all types of meat. With that price, she can make 200-300 soles in profits per cow; she sells about one cow a day. Since receiving the loan, she says that her profits have increased due to the increased sales. Her next goal is to buy a car for her business. Currently she has to use taxis to transport the meat in its various stages.

osé "Cheo" Feliciano nació el 3 de Julio de 1935 y dió sus primeros pasos en firme en el campo de la música como estudiante de la Escuela de Música Libre en su nativa Ponce, Puerto Rico. A la edad de 17, se trasladó con su familia a Nueva York donde empezó su carrera profesional como percusionista con un grupo llamado "Ciro Rimac's Review".
Pasó luego a trabajar con la orquesta de Tito Rodriguez, después como conguero con el Conjunto Marianaxi dirigido por el maestro Luis Cruz, y como percusionista con la orquestra de "Kako y su Trabuco". Por recomendación de Tito Rodriguez, Feliciano hizo una audición y obtuvo un trabajo con el Sexteto de Joe Cuba como vocalista. Con Joe Cuba obtuvo sus primeros éxitos en la radio. Temas como "A las seis", "El ratón", "Como ríen" y "El pito", marcaron su paso por el famoso combo Cubano; por un tiempo hizo una breve aparición con la orquesta de Eddie Palmieri.
Al final de los años 60, Cheo decidió interrumpir su carrera en protesta por la guerra no declarada de los Estados-Unidos contra Vietnam. Después de un retiro de tres años, su carrera se reactivó con una grabación histórica titulada Cheo. Rompiendo todos los records de ventas, con el sello Vaya, se anotó éxitos con sus canciones "Anacaona", "Mi triste problema", "Pa' que afinquen" y "Si por mí llueve". Recibió numerosos premios por su esfuerzo, incluyendo el Front Page Award (Premio Primera Plana) del diario New York Daily News.
De sus años de grabación con el sello Fania se produjeron éxitos como "Juguete", "Salomé", "Los entierros de mi gente pobre" y "Juan Albañil". Tambien formó parte del elenco de la primera opera salsa "Hommy". En los anõs 80, Cheo lanzó su propia compañia de producción de discos: Coche Records. Al entrar a la decada del 90 realizó varios proyectos importantes, incluyendose dos álbums con la Rondalla Venezolana y su trabajo en Cuba, del que editó el compacto: "Cheo en Cuba".
A fines de 1999, Cheo editó una remarcable producción titulada "Una voz, Mil Recuerdos". En este trabajo, Cheo Feliciano rinde homenaje a figuras de la música como Tito Rodríguez, Ismael Rivera, Frankie Ruíz, Mon Rivera, Gilberto Monroig y Santitos Colón, entre otros. El álbum fué escogido como uno de los veinte mejores en 1999 por la Fundación Nacional de la Cultura Popular, por canciones como Camionero.
