She played a Jewish mother which was quite a feat because she was not domestic at all. Her acting is quite good. Unfortunately the musical excerpts are very short. Full length versions of the songs from the film were issued by RCA. The only opportunity to see her sing while she was still performing. She retired 3 years later.
