This is one of the key songs from our album, "Northern Soul 2007", which we released last September on Centre City Records and is still available to buy. Leee John was born John Leslie McGregor on June 23rd 1957, which is also my own birthday. Born in Hackney, London of St. Lucian descent, Leee is a British musician and actor. He was educated in New York, later studying drama at the Anna Scher Theatre School. He was working as a backing singer when he met Ashley Ingram. They formed a songwriting partnership, resolving to start their own 'slinky, sexy and erotic' group, working in a short-lived band called Fizzz. Together with Errol Kennedy they formed Imagination, a three piece English soul band in the early 1980s. Their first hit "Body Talk" reached number 4 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1981. Their biggest hit, "Just an Illusion", peaked at number two in March 1982. The trio frequently appeared on Top of the Pops and other pop music programmes. Despite not being an actor, Leee John made a guest appearance on Doctor Who in the story Enlightenment in 1983. He replaced an actor who had dropped out at short notice. The group in the UK waned but they continued to perform, tour and record until the early 1990s. John went back to acting, but recently resurfaced in the reality TV show Reborn in the USA alongside other singers such as Elkie Brooks and Tony Hadley. In 2005 John released a jazz album, Feel My Soul on Candid Records featuring a mixture of jazz standards, and original compositions. Since the album's release John has been touring the UK and Europe with his jazz quartet, as well as performing with Imagination. In 2007, he performed this track "Trust My Heart" for our album Northern Soul 2007.

(2007)Did You know that LEEE was invited to sing with both Blood Sweat & Tears and War when they performed at they Rainbow Theatre, London and LEEE was only Fifteen, it was here that LEEE caught the eye of the F Beat label, which was owned by Elvis Costello, who introduced LEEE to Trevor Horn.
This introduction led to the recording of some demo tracks which were heard by Morgan Kahn a top P.R, man and Steve Walsh a London D.J. who happened to be closely connected with the R&B label.
During this time LEEE met up with Ashley Ingram and the recognition of each others talent was immediate. The R&B label signed LEEE and he went into the studio where he met Tony Swaine it was at this point, after hearing a few bars music, that LEEE introduced Ashley to the R&B label.The seed to a successful songwriting and production partnership that has few parallels had been planted. By the way the few bars became 'Body Talk' and LEEE and Ashley got together with drummer Errol Kennedy and were probably better known as IMAGINATION.
