| Sri Lankan Navy blows up LTTE TERRORIST gun ship - MUST SEE - 131 sec
Must see actual footage of LTTE terrorist (No 1 terrorist group banned by over 32 nations) gun ship being blown up by the Sri Lankan Navy off the Sri Lankan sea coast. Quick response by the elite navy forces saved the lives of many innocent Sri Lankan Civilians.
The Sri Lankan Naval patrol units foiled an LTTE terrorist attempt to smuggle a cache of arms and explosives in the seas 185 Nm, off 'Dondra Point'-Matara, on Feb 28 2007, morning. SL Navy fired warnings shots in the air to halt the terrorist gun ship however the ltte retaliated by firing motars at the SL Navy. The Navy forces of the Socialist Democratic Rebublic of Sri Lanka had no choice but to fight back and destroy the terrorist ship completely. SL Navy recovered lethal weapons, 122 mm shells, T56 Magazines, motars, gernandes, suicide jackets, AK 47s, T56s, land mines and much more on the ltte terrorist gun ship
Fishermen in the area said that they heard two large explosions from the above mentioned area, as they were making towards the land.
The vessel sailing in deep seas around 185 nautical miles off 'Dondra Point' without a flag was detected by the Navy around 04.30 a.m. Feb/28/2007. The ship had completely ignored the warning shots fired by the Navy patrol craft to stop. Instead the vessel had opened motar fire towards the Naval units. Subsequently the Navy retaliated with gun fire at the suspected vessel at about 08.30 a.m.
It is now confirmed that the vessel had illegally carried weapons and ammunition for the LTTE terrorist. The LTTE's continuous attempts to acquire weapons and ammunition during the past failed due to measures taken by foreign countries. This incident is a clear indication that the LTTE has not stopped their attempts in procuring arms and ammunition to continue their terrorist activities to kill innocent Tamil, Sinhala, Muslim civilians of Sri Lanka.
The sinking of this vessel comes at a time when the LTTE has suffered humiliating defeats against the Security Forces and also been condemed for assasination attempt on foreign diplomats.

It is heart-warming to see a young pregnant woman offering her seat in a train to a soldier. She does that on her own, instantly, as she is well and truly aware that the future of her unborn baby lies in the hands of those soldiers. The members of the security forces and the Police sacrifice their youthful lives to protect our children and secure a better future for all. Be it in the United States, the Middle East or in Sri Lanka, terrorists are terrorists. They have faith only in the bullet. The nations across the globe should unite to put an end to terrorism, which has posed one of the biggest threat ever to world peace. Nobody wants war, not even in our wildest dreams. All of us need peace, but not at the expense of our nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity. What matters is how we achieve peace. It should be an ever-lasting honourable peace, one which would bring all ethnic groups in this country under one umbrella. All Sri Lankans are duty bound to protect our gallant soldiers, brave sailors and dynamic airmen. They are part of our lives, they are ours and we are with them! They keep awake at night today, to protect our tomorrow. It's they who miss their loved ones, get injured in the battlefront and make the supreme sacrifice to make us safe. Together for all.

The Sri Lankan government has unilaterally scrapped the Cease Fire Agreement from 16th
January 2008, which was monitored by the Sri Lankan Monitoring Mission (SLMM) and has sent
the Nordic Monitors home. This precipitous action by the government has jettisoned any prospect
for a peaceful political settlement. The UN, the International NGOs and anyone who has worked
in the humanitarian field in Sri Lanka, have all protested vehemently about the torture,
kidnapping, indiscriminate aerial bombardment of the civilian population and the killing of 42
NGO workers by the government forces and their paramilitaries. Sri Lanka was ranked third
worldwide in the number of journalists killed with seven journalists murdered in 2007 in the line
of duty, only behind Iraq and Somalia. In the last two years two Tamil MPs were assassinated in
Colombo, where the finger points to government backed paramilitary elements in order to stifle
or eliminate the Tamil leadership. The government has yet to prosecute any one in the armed
services for massacres of innocent civilians. We think that the partisan international pressure
exerted by Western countries only on the LTTE was a mistake in that it led the GoSL to consider
it a carte blanche from the international community to scrap the cease fire agreement and finish
off the Tamils in a one-sided war. We feel that a more even handed approach from the
international community between the two proponents, including sanctions on the GoSL for
human rights abuses, will even now be more conducive to a negotiated peace settlement in Sri
Lanka.
