This composition was composed entirely on my Korg 01Wfd sythesizer with its 16 track sequencer. The intention of this piece was to capture a Jazz feel over a 12 tone type of vibe. I have used an organ as the melodic voice, which is joined in the choruses with a horn. I had originally felt that that tune had a chaotic kind of persistence, which made me think of calamities and disasters and the transition from chorus to bridge, with the ensuing organ solo took me off to a groove that I really enjoyed soloing over.
The character of Calamity Jane has always been of fascination for me. In the world of the old Wild West, there were several bad boys who achieved legendary status, one of these was Jane. I hope that you enjoy the ride.

It seemed pretty simple to me at the time, being a non-resident of Quebec and fortunately the Quebecer's made the right decision. In making this slideshow, I thought I'd update the concept to include all of the choices that we're forced into making on a daily basis. I do not consider myself a singer and was ill in the studio out west, when I recorded the vocal track. (I came home 2 weeks later with pneumonia)I recorded this piece in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - one of my favorite parts of the country for sure.
This IS a love song and deals with loss. As life creeps by us all, we each experience loss at different times and in very different ways. Whether it is a lover, a parent, a family member or a close personal friend, in separation and in death we must find ways to express our love, respect and pain.
After recently losing a dear and sweet, high school friend of mine, I felt that this song needed to be revisited, so here it is.
