| Sayeda Zainab's (a.s.) Speech in Yazid's (la) Court - 598 sec After she saw Yazid disrespecting the head of her brother with a cane. She stood and said, "God says, and He says the truth, the end of miscreants will be awful, those who belied the signs of God and mocked them. Oh Yazid, do you feel that you have made our life miserable and existence impossible? And you think that God has dishonoured us and that you have been honoured and elevated? This apparent success of yours is the result of grandeur of your might and lofty status for which you are proud. You feel that you have conquered the whole world and your affairs are organised and that our domain is now under you control
Wait! Wait! Let not your ignorance make you so elated for have you not heard God's words - Let not those who disbelieve think that our giving them respite is good for themselves. We only give respite to them so that they may increase in sins and for them is a disgraceful chastisement. (3:177)
Oh you the son of freed slaves! Is this your justice that the ladies of your house remain veiled and we the Prophet's daughters should be paraded from place to place? You have thus insulted our dignity.
Oh Yazid! Your misdeed has proved your rebellion against God. And this action of yours comes as no surprise from a person whose ancestors chewed the liver of such saintly martyrs. The descendants of such enemies of God should naturally be the most deadly!
Oh Yazid! You are happily disrespecting the teeth of Husain even though it was the place of kissing for the Holy Prophet!
Oh Yazid! You did what you wished, but remember that you have cut your own skin, In the near future you will be taken in the presence of the Holy Prophet. On that occasion you will be burdened with the sins of the misdeed committed by you shedding the blood of his progeny and dishonouring the sanctity of his family.
Oh Yazid! It does not befit you to get inflated with joy after slaying the Prophet's progeny and reckon not those slain in the way of God to be dead: nay! Alive they are with their Lord, being sustained, rejoicing in what God has granted them" (2:168)
Oh Yazid! Feel not elated with our defeat, for you will have to pay the penalty of it on the day when you will be rewarded for your misdeeds. God is not unjust to anyone. We trust in Him. He is our place of refuge. In Him we seek sanctity and with Him rest our hopes! Tommy Castro and the Tommy Castro Band are featured on Tari's new CD
"Better Late! Than Never".
Tommy Castro plays lead guitar on "Easier to Say" and "Unlove You". "Stormy Monday" features the whole band live at Copia, Napa, California.
"Better Late! Than Never" is just a title that I feel shows the average artist, that no matter how long you've been performing, or singing, it's never too late to chase the dream.
A little something about
Tari LaCourt
Tari LaCourt , formerly Tari Smith, was born in Oakland, CA, At the age of 12 she was fully engulfed in her very first working cover band. While in high school, she would sneak into the night clubs of Oakland and sit in with the bands that were performing. She participated in anything that was related to music, i.e. Choirs, school musicals, classical competitions and local rock bands.
At the age of 19, she left her day job to audition for a local club band and she was off and running singing with local bands such as Logos, Hot Cider, Hot Street and most recently The DeSotos sharing the stage with the fabulous vocals of Calvin Tillery for the past 16 years. Its been great having Calvin as an inspiration.
Tari has often been vocally likened to such great talents as: Lydia Pense, Bonnie Raitt, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and Ruthie Foster, throughout her career.
She has had the privilege of being part of opening acts for the likes of:
Loggins and Messina, Dave Mason, John Mayall, Jackson Browne, The Pointer Sisters, Albert King, Tower of Power, Lydia Pense & Friends (formerly Cold Blood), Elvin Bishop, J Giles Band, Ricky Nelson, just to name a few.
She has also performed on stage together with:
Elvin Bishop, Lydia Pense and Friends, Bruce Conte, John Mayall, Dave Mason, Robbin Ford and John Lee Hooker, Clifford Coulter, Bill Withers and countless others. Most recently she has been spotted sitting in with The Tommy Castro Band and the fabulous Mr. Earl Thomas. Tari was honored to have been able to record a song written and produced by Ronnie Montrose for a Canadian movie.
She finally made the decision to go into the studio and record her first solo CD.
Ive always wanted to record an album, Tari says, The time just feels right now. I have been blessed with the most wonderful and talented players on this project, including the incomparable Tommy Castro!! I love him. I love everyone that participated. She adds, Music knows no age. So, I guess you can say that its never too late to follow your dream. She adds, I was born to entertain! Thats what I intend to do.
