Gabriela Komleva is Kitri .
The other two leading ballerinas are very interesting. Despite their success as Kirov ballerinas, both have actually received more acclaim as teachers and coaches. 44 year old Olga Moiseyeva plays the Street Dancer . She would retire the next year , 1973. After her retirement , she soon worked with an existing young star in the company , Galina Mezentseva , who became her first great protege in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1980s, she worked with Altynai Asylmuratova and continued with Yulia Makhalina and then in the 1990s with Svetlana Zakharova . Therefore, Moiseyeva has coached four very important Kirov ballerinas since her retirement.
The other ballerina is Ludmila Kovaleva , who plays the Queen of the Dryads . After her retirement, she decided to become a teacher at the Vaganova Ballet Academy . After Natalia Dudinskaya stopped teaching about 10 years ago and Inna Zubkhovskaya died a few years ago, Kovaleva became the top teacher at the school and is recognized as the top teacher at the Vaganova Academy today. There was a triple bill featuring Chopiniana ( Les Sylphides ) , the White Swan act from Swan Lake and the popular Paquita . The performance of Paquita starring Elena Martinson is what made this day a historic day in Kirov Mariinsky history . For those who attended this performance, it actually was a MYSTERY. Those in the audience had no idea what had happened during this performance and the youtube audience will witness this historic performance as it unravels. As you will later see, the word unravel is very appropriate to what happens near the end as ribbons begin to unravel. Those who saw the performance never knew what happened, but you will.***
The ballet might have been called Paquita, but if this had been a movie it would have been called "THE WILD ADVENTURES OF BALLERINA ELENA MARTINSON". As you will see in this video, Elena Martinson was adored by the Kirov Theatre fans. She had many admirers and this phenomenal ballerina with the strange last name for a Russian ballerina is generally an unknown outside of Russia. She may be the greatest ballerina ever that very few people know about. That last statement would have been true, but in the 1960s there was a Vaganova student that everyone that saw her said she would become the greatest ballerina ever and unfortunately, she died from an illness before ever performing professionally. Semoukova (Семюкова) Kirov 1960's is a video with photographs that bachsonata put up on YT.***
.So what is the mystery and what happened? At the end of part 4 , you will see Martinson's variation. Everything looked great and she made no technical errors, but in her final diagonal, she suddenly stopped while executing a perfect double pique en dedans. To the audience that had no way of replaying a video, it looked like she stopped without any reason, since it looked like her turn had been done very well. When replaying it, it is evident that she did nothing wrong, so why did she stop? The answer lies in her shoes and I am sure that she did lay those shoes to rest forever. She was doing her pique en dedans turns on her right leg and the sole of the right shoe suddenly broke and in shock, not knowing what was going on, she suddenly stopped. Being an experienced professional ballerina and a young experienced professional ballerina, she soon recovered and kept on going to great applause.**
The adventure continues from that point. She had to decide what to do with that messed up shoe that messed her up. Her fouettes were coming up , but she does those on her left leg which did not have a shoe problem. So she left her bad shoe on her right foot and executed her fouettes. After her fouettes, the mystery and the adventure come to fruition. Her dancing was not finished and she still had work to do on that bad shoe. She made a decision to change shoes, however the choreography and the music did not allow much time to change shoes. I will not tell you the details, you will see this mystery unravel in part 5 and you will fully understand what happened without any explanation from me.***By the way, there were other dancers in this adventure. The four soloists doing variations were Irina Zhelonkina , Elena Pankova , Veronika Ivanova and Zhanna Ayupova . The pas de trois was danced by Elena Vorontsova ( star of Children of Theater Street ), Maya Baturina ( last name at birth Pevzner ) and Ravil Bagautdinov . Among those behind Martinson during the pas de deux are Irina Sitnikova and Natalia Pavlova. Martinson's partner was Andrei Bosov. Finally, you can see Maya Dumchenko and Natalia Padalko (star of Moscow City Ballet ) at the center during the bows of the Vaganova children. I will be listing three different casts for Sleeping Beauty from 1989 in Leningrad at the Kirov Mariinsky Theater. In all 3 performances, I will omit the opening non dancing portions of the ballet and the long boat ride in the second act. There will still be more than 2 hours and 30 minutes of ballet.
This video features Larissa Lezhnina in her first performance as Aurora. Two months later, she danced her second performance as Aurora in Montreal, which was televised by Canadian TV and later sold as a commercial video. In both the Leningrad performance and the Montreal performance, Faroukh Ruzimatov was the prince, but the lilac fairy was different and some of the other soloists were different. The lilac fairy is played by a Russian girl, whose mother was Russian and her father was of Swedish descent. I cannot remember her first name, but her last name is Martinson.
This original video was used by the Canadian TV producer to prepare for the filming in Montreal. The Leningrad performance is much longer than the commercial video and even with what i have omitted, this video is longer than the commercial video. Plus it has those incomparable Vaganova students, which included a young Maya Dumchenko and Diana Vishneva.
In part two , these are the soloist Fairies

2. Elena Vorontsova
