Zero gravity and decompressed environments also appear in Dead Space, and Isaac can navigate through them using his pressurized suit and magnetic boots. Some levels even lead out onto the surface of the ship's hull. Stasis can be used in the game to slow down enemies and objects temporarily, and a kinesis module to pick up and throw items. Text, audio and video logs can be found throughout the game which detail the final moments of the crew, and sometimes provide a bit of information on the story.
Combat in Dead Space becomes complicated when Necromorphs do not simply "die" after receiving a certain number of gun rounds. In fact, depending on how they are wounded, Necromorphs can adopt new stances and tactics, even sprouting new limbs and giving birth in the process.[7] To defeat the Necromorphs, Isaac must use "strategic dismemberment," the methodical severance of specific limbs or sections of the Necromorphs.[8] Dead Space's executive producer, Glen Schofield, has said that "the primary theme of Dead Space is dismemberment,"[6] and early previews of the game noted the high levels of gore.[3][6][7]

Set in the distant future, Dead Space revolves around Isaac Clarke, a space engineer who works for the Concordance Extraction Corporation (C.E.C.), a company that operates giant mining ships throughout the galaxy. When the C.E.C. receives a distress call from the USG Ishimura (a Planet Cracker-class ship that destroys planets in order to extract valuable ore), Isaac and four other C.E.C. employees set out on the USG Kellion to rendezvous with the Ishimura in orbit above Aegis 7. Their assumption is that a mechanical failure is the only problem. At the beginning of the game, Isaac is seen watching a video sent to him by his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, who is currently on board the Ishimura.
Shortly after crash landing on the Ishimura flight deck, the crew of USG Kellion is attacked by hostile creatures called Necromorphs. These creatures reproduce by reanimating deceased human bodies, violently mutating and assimilating them to become one of their own (A process referred to by a scientific backstory log as "Recombination"). Isaac escapes down an elevator and kills a Necromorph by trapping it in the elevator doors, but is separated from the rest of the team. At this point, Isaac, Kendra Daniels, and Zach Hammond are the only surviving members of the USG Kellion.
Throughout the rest of the game, Isaac is tasked with repairing different areas of the Ishimura while constantly under attack by Necromorphs. Eventually, Isaac, Kendra, and Hammond send out an S.O.S beacon attached to an asteroid. This attracts a military vessel, the USM Valor. Unfortunately, the Valor retrieves an escape pod that Hammond had used to trap a living Necromorph, infecting the crew of the Valor, resulting in a ship-to-ship collision with the Ishimura. Also, Isaac is confronted by one of the only survivors left on the Ishimura, a now-demented Dr. Charles Mercer. Mercer believes that the Recombination of the Necromorphs

Fallout 3 takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States in the year 2277. The player character is a member of Vault 101, a fallout shelter serving Washington, D.C. The player character lives with his/her widower father (voiced by Liam Neeson)[19] until, one day, the player wakes up finding that the father has left the vault and ventured into the wasteland for unknown reasons. The vault overseer becomes suspicious that the player had something to do with the father's disappearance, and the character decides to go out into the Capital Wasteland in search of him.[20] Along the way, the player will encounter organizations seen in the previous games, including the Brotherhood of Steel, a group of technology-coveting survivors, and the Enclave, the elitist and genocidal remnant of the U.S. government.[21]
Story
While the game is designed to be played in whatever manner the character desires, the central plot of the game deals with the main character trying to find his father, James. Shortly after the player turns 19, his father leaves mysteriously. The player, after being threatened by the Overseer and forced to defend himself, pursues his father, tracking him first to a radio station, then to Rivet City, a derelict aircraft carrier now serving as a settlement. Here the player meets Doctor Li, who tells the player of Project Purity, a plan to remove the radiation from the water of the Tidal Basin, as means of helping to restore the environment, as plant and animal life can not hope to return to normal with the constant presence of radiation.
After investigating the lab of Project Purity, built inside the Jefferson Memorial rotunda, the player tracks him to Vault 112, and frees him from a virtual reality suspended animation. After returning to Rivet City, the players father and Doctor Li return to the Project Purity lab, where James tells the player that the catalyst for Project Purity is a G.E.C.K. However, while helping James rekindle the lab equipment, the Enclave arrives, and James kills himself and several Enclave soldiers with a massive dose of radiation. After fleeing the lab, Li and the player arrive at the Pentagon, now the Citadel of the Brotherhood of Steel. After recovering, Li pleads with the player to find a GECK to finish James work. After finding one on the manifest of Vault 87, the player sets out to retrieve it. the player discovers a Vault that had been dedicated to creating and perfecting the FEV virus. After retrieving the GECK, the player is ambushed again by the Enclave, who take the player captive.
Awaking in a holding cell, the player is briefly interrogated by Colonel Autumn, who is called away by President Eden. Eden frees the player and instructs him to come speak with him in the control room of the Enclave. Along the way, the Colonel publicly countermands the order and directs the Enclave garrison to kill the player. After fighting through the soldiers, the player arrives in the control room, and finds the control console of President Eden, a supercomputer that was given authority over the east coast, while the real President was sequestered on a oil rig off the west coast. Eden gives the player a modified form the FEV virus, and asks the player to use it on the purifier, so that the water it produces will be free from mutation, and also deadly to any mutants, which would result in the deaths of the Super Mutants, Ghouls, and a large portion of the human population.
After escaping the Enclave and returning to the Citadel, the Brotherhood of Steel decides to assault the Memorial, which has since been heavily fortified by the Enclave. With the help of the player and a massive robot, the Brotherhood invades and retakes the Memorial. In the Rotunda, the player must deal with Colonel Autumn who guards the entrance to the labratory. After realizing the airlock for the control room is one-way, either the player or Setinel Lyon of the Brotherhood has to enter the activation code, 216, a reference to Revelation 21:6, a favorite Bible passage of the player's mother. The ending movie then plays, modified depending on the players Karma, whether they utilized the FEV virus, and who activates the purifier.
