Ryan Vegas is singer, guitarist, drummer, keyboarder and songwriter. He calls himself Ryan Vegas today but he also was Jürgen Huth or a „Danny Boy in his musician career. After such an enumeration of transformations and variousnesses is the question: How has this started and first of all when. When he heard the Beatles for the first time on the radio he knew that music will be his life. Listening to evry chord of the Fab Four, Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry and many more he tought himself playing guitar and drums. Then in 1967 he and his brother founded the first band „The Shocks with two lads from his school. Five years later „The Shocks turned to „Nighttrain with Ryan on drums, his brother on guitar and two other guys on guitar and bass. The two brothers started to write their own songs and the first hit was born in the year of the foundation of „Nighttrain: „Hallo Bimmelbahn. They had several hits in german speech and were touring all around Germany. (Some tours beside John Kincade, Toni Sheridan ). In 1979 Frank Farian produced another megaseller for his famous discoband „Boney M. called „Gotta go home wich is the first „Nighttrain hit „Hallo Bimmelbahn in english speech. The same year Ryan and his brother established a recording studio in Berlin with everything which was necessary to play good music. In 1989 a new duo came up on the Berlin scene: „The Danny Boys (named after a famous irish song) were founded by Ryan and his brother. They had lots of live appearances all over Germany with a broad spectrum at english songs across the history of music: from pop to rock, from Beatles to Deep Purple. And there was a further highlight in the repertoire of the well-known duo from Berlin: Have a guess! Yes, the dearly beloved songs of ...? Right! Neil Diamond. The songs of this popular singer and songwriter are always very well received by the audience. The voices of Danny Boy Ryan and Neil Diamond sounded so similar so that fans asked again and again: Do something on your own, do a Neil Diamond show. And this is latest project of the musician and artist Jürgen Huth Danny Boy: Ryan Vegas.. Neil Diamond-Covershow! His premiere was at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin for the „Gourmand Club which was very successful. You could see many shiny eyes in the audience and hear a comment here and there like „he sounds like the real one! But not only the audience is in raptures about Ryan Vegas, this love is mutual. Asking Ryan whats so fascinating to this project he answers: „the fans of cause! Neil Diamond fans are very special fans, real fans for music with every beat of their hearts. For those who love Neil Diamond they will be satisfied.

drama queen, family force 5. im working on getting the whole song up, and i know its sideways, but i cant work with it at all until i get it ON youtube, so i can then rip it OFF of youtube via mediaconverter, and so save it as a mp3 file or somesuch (cause my computer insisted on saving it as a vlc file, and when i deleted vcl player temporarily, it saved it as mov, and i couldnt change it). that way i can flip it right side up/add the 2nd part/etc by using wmm. phew. so that what im working on now. and the reason i couldnt do record it all at once is because no ones camera works except my parents, and theirs only records for 1 minute max, and that without sound. so i already have to take the card out of theirs after one min, switch it to my camera, which only even semi-works when its hooked up the to computer, and so rip it to the computer in the first place. phew again. so the entire vid should be up by... idk, as soon as i can get everything working the right way. sheesh, who knew this could be such a long and involved process... oi

This top notch Dutch band from The Hague had their pinnacle during the early Seventies when they delivered some outstanding 24 carat symphonic rock albums. EARTH & FIRE was founded by the twin brothers Chris (guitar) and Gerard (keyboards) Koerts in 68. Soon bass player Hans Ziech, drummer Kees Kalis and singer Lisette joined them. Unfortunately Lisette had to give up singing because of a serious eye-disease and Kees Kalis left. They were replaced by Ton v/d Kley and the beautiful, very sexy Jerney Kaagman. She was a discovery by GOLDEN EARRING singer Barry Hay, they knew each other from the blossoming rock scene in The Hague.
When EARTH & FIRE had a hugh success with three Sixties poprock oriented singles Seasons, Ruby is the one and Wild and exciting (in 70 all reached the Dutch Top 5), the band decided to become professionals. Gerard Koerts bought a Mellotron, this instrument changed the Dutch progrock history because EARTH & FIRE used it for a more lush symphonic keyboard sound. Eventually they developed a very unique progrock style (a bit similar to the French progrock band SANDROSE and UK band JULIANS TREATMENT featuring lots of organ, Mellotron, strong and sensitive electric guitar and distinctive vocals from Jerney Kaagman. And EARTH & FIRE remained successful with their single releases, the Mellotron drenched Storm and Thunder (72, #6), Memories (72, #1), Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight (73, #3) and Love of Life (74, #2) all reached the Dutch Top 10. Also the albums in that era sold very well and gained worldwide recognition: Songs of the Marching Children (71, reaching #12), Atlantis (73, reaching #6) and To the World of the Future (75, reaching #7) are considered as progrock classics, especially in Japan EARTH & FIRE is even more popular than FOCUS! Gradually their sound turned into more poppy, culminating into the success of the very commercial song Weekend, reaching #1 and remaining 13 weeks in the charts! Also the following albums Gate to Infinity (77), Reality Fills Fantasy (79, reaching #2)), Andromeda Girl (81, reaching #12)) and In a State of Flux 82) lost most of the symhonic ingredients.
The albums Song of the Marching Children and Atlantis belong to the best of the Dutch progrock history. The epic title tracks from both albums (between 16 and 19 minutes) are recommended: the sound is very warm and melodic with lots of changing atmospheres, accelerations and surprising breaks. The one moment you hear a mellow organ, twanging acoustic guitars and a fairy-like voice from Jerney, the other moment there are bombastic eruptions with majestic Mellotron, heavy floods of organ and some fiery electric guitar work, topped by the powerful voice of Jerney. By the way, she has been married for almost 30 years with Bert Ruiter, former bass player from FOCUS...!

I've had the transcription sitting in a folder since 1992 - unplayed, as I just couldn't get anywhere near the whammy stuff, or the harmonics - and hadn't even thought about the volume swells and vibrato and ... O_O
Anyway, I got the tab out this morning, and this is probably my third or fourth crack at it. I had to lay down some keyboards - which was difficult: I ended up taking the timing cues for the keys from my first run-through with the guitar, and then trying to follow the keys with the subsequent takes. :-/
Anyone got a backing track??????? ;-) I intend to do an updated video when I get the song a bit more down, and a proper backing would be good (no-one would have to listen to my dodgy keyboard playing, for a start :-p )

Amended 070707 - Hi all. Thanks for coming and checking this out, here's some important things to know.
1. I first started playing this in 1986, it's one of the first songs I learned on a keyboard.
2. I play entirely by ear, I can't read music. The solos are not perfect because of that.
3. This is the first time I ever included the solos with the song. I had never tried the second solo before this recording.

Here I am playing my own improvisational version (actually 2 versions) of the popular song "Sunny" originally written and recorded by African American singer songwriter Bobby Hebb in 1966.
"Sunny" has been recorded by, among others, Pat Martino & John Scofield with Joey Defrancesco, Boney M, Cher, Georgie Fame, Johnny Rivers, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra with Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, the Electric Flag, The Four Seasons, the Four Tops, Wilson Pickett, Les McCann, Dusty Springfield, and The Alex Trio featuring David Wise. One cover, a disco version called "Sunny '76" was a hit for Hebb in that year.
Bobby Hebb recorded "Sunny" in New York City, which resulted in a tour with The Beatles for Hebb. It is one of the most covered popular songs, with hundreds of versions released.
This video was recorded March 2008 in Davis, California. At about 2:40 in the video you should notice a profound change in the rhythm and style of playing. I hope you enjoy it and thank you kindly for your positive comments.
