# 955) Louis Prima & Keely Smith: In the Mood for Love - 160 sec
Ok folks here is the idea: There is this Steven Jay list of 1001 movies you must see before you die ( http://www.listsofbests.com/list/1081 )and though I don't totally agree with the choices (no Ed Wood, No Barbarella, No Duel), it brought some forgotten gems to my attention so that I'm currently working my way through the list (I'm nearly halfway there). Along the way I had unwittingly done a few videos using footage from various films on said list and I thought it would be a really good thing to eventually have 1001 videos that will cover all of Steven Jay's picks individually. For that, of course, I need your help. So what I want you to do is: Get the list, choose your favourites and create a video that is based on only one movie at a time. It doesn't has to be the rather easy music clip thing that I do. Whatever takes your fancy really. Then join http://www.youtube.com/group/1001movies and submit your video. But please be creative and don't just add the official trailer. Bit of a story here. Of course, i knew that there were numerous versions of 'In the mood for Love' around, but the one from Louis Prima has always been my favourite, so I inevitably associate this uplifting interpretation with 'In the mood for Love'. So wehn I went to see the Wong Kar Wai Film in 2001, I was expecting a fast paced commedy. Well, I liked it all the same. http://imdb.com/title/tt0118694/

Keely Smith Tribute - 229 sec
Here is a beautiful song performed by the wonderful Keely Smith. Keely Smith (born Dorothy Jaqueline Keely in 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia, of part Cherokee descent) is an American jazz and popular music singer, who enjoyed great popularity in the 1950's and 1960's. Her collaborations with Louis Prima and Frank Sinatra were highly rated. Smith was much admired for her exquisite singing style and her great beauty. In recent years, Smith resumed her career to critical acclaim. Smith showed a natural aptitude for singing at a very young age. At age fourteen, Smith started singing with a naval air station band. At fifteen, she got her first paying job with the Earl Bennett band. Smith made her professional debut with Prima in 1949 (the couple were married in 1953). Smith and Prima's act was a mainstay of the Las Vegas lounge scene for much of the 1950's. Smith appeared with Prima in the 1959 film "Hey Boy! Hey Girl!", singing "Fever", and also appeared in and sang on the soundtrack of the previous year's "Thunder Road". Her first big solo hit was "I Wish You Love". In 1961, Smith divorced Prima and signed to Reprise Records, where her musical director was Nelson Riddle. In 1965, she had Top 20 hits in the UK with an album of Beatles compositions and a version of "You're Breaking My Heart". Smith then retired from music to concentrate on raising her children. In 1985, she made a well-received comeback with "I'm In Love Again" (Verve). Her albums "Swing, Swing, Swing" (2002), "Keely sings Sinatra" (2001 - for which she was Grammy nominated), and "Keely Swings Count Basie Style with Strings" (2002) have garnered much critical and fan acclaim. Most recently, Smith released "Vegas '58 - Today", a compilation album of her best known songs, all recorded live. Smith has re-recorded a number of songs from her Prima years, including a modified version of "Oh Marie", which has been renamed "Oh Louis" in tribute. Now in her 70s, Smith works a light touring schedule, but continues to wow fans with her strong voice and natural stage presence. Enjoy Keely's big and dynamic voice!

KEELY SMITH: "MR. WONDERFUL" - 211 sec
I adore Keely Smith! Her voice is PERFECT! I've been listening to her since I was a kid and I love her even more now. She's still going strong in Las Vegas after all these years. This cut is from my copy of the great LP, "I Wish You Love." I hope you like it. FROM WIKIPEDIA: Keely Smith (born Dorothy Jacqueline Keely, 9 March 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia, of part Cherokee and Irish descent) is an American jazz and popular music singer who enjoyed great popularity in the 1950s and 1960s. Her collaborations with Louis Prima and Frank Sinatra were highly rated. Smith was much admired for her singing style, and for her duets with Louis Prima. In recent years, Smith resumed her career to critical acclaim... By her own admission, she has never had a singing lesson and cannot read music.

These are pictures of the actual Keely Hydro-Vacuo Motor. This famous motor worked, in part, using or capturing the shock wave from water hammer and probably also the resultant cavitation. For sure there are other dynamics at work in it. For more information http://www.svpvril.com/Keely_Motor.html
