Imperial 45 RPM record. I've transferred it myself. Imperial was a budget sub-label
of EMI, marketed at the European continent, Germany especially. They started ambitiously
in 1954, and recorded the core repertoire in rapid succession. Kayser, later in his live
the violinist in the Gobel trio Berlin, was one of the young artists recording for Imperial.
His 10# LP of Bruch's violin concerto is a well sought item among record collectors,
This Serenade was recorded around 1955.

I shot this film on 9-25-78 using a 16mm Canon Scoopic. Sorry, I wasn't able to record sound, the Scoopic was loaded with silent film I was on a low-budget mission armed with a low-technology film camera.....
The El Paso Paul Kayser was a large Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) tanker when she made her maiden voyage from Algeria to Elba Island, Georgia in September 1978. I was fortunate to be present when the ship came in on her first trip....
I transfered the film to a videotape in 1978 and my old videotape footage has degraded so bad, the resolution is 75% less than it was 30 years ago, the clarity suffers and the colors are almost gone. Please overlook the quality, graininess and washed-out colors....
This ship only made a few trips before she scraped into rocks near the coast of Spain. LNG was not leaked, nobody was injured and there were no environmental damages. LNG evaporates rapidly leaving no trace or residue. (LNG won't burn or explode.) Her cargo was transfered to her sister ship, the El Paso Sonatrach and the LNG was safely delivered to the final destination.... The El Paso Paul Kayser had a double hull and she also had an insulation-membrane inside the tanks to further add a third method of containment for her colorless, odorless non-toxic LNG. (LNG is basically methane. By cooling down certain gases such as oxygen, helium or natural gas, the gas can be converted into a liquid and it's volume is reduced, making it practical and economical to transport and store.) ---
The El Paso Paul Kayser was eventually sold for scrap because of the extensive damage to the hull. Ironically, I was in Navy Officer's Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island in late 1980 and outside my barracks, less than an 1/8 of a mile sat the El Paso Paul Kayser in the port, rusting away. It was very sad for me to see this incredible ship again for a last time. I felt like I had seen an old friend who was sent out to pasture decades ahead of her time. ----
This was a majestic looking ship. Typically, LNG tankers are the ugly-ducklings of the sea, but not the El Paso Paul Kayser. When I saw this ship coming in from the sea on the Georgia coast for the first time, she was very grand and spectacular. I don't recall ever seeing any ship as big as this one.
The original crew (in 1978) were all experienced Norwegian veterans of the seas. President Jimmy Carter mandated that American ships be "manned" by American crews. As a result, the less experienced American crew was rushed into service and soon ran the ship into rocks, sealing the fate of this remarkable ship. Additionally, shortly after the El Paso Company began uploading LNG in Algeria in 1978, the Algerian Government "changed hands" and a Marxist-style regime came into power and basically doubled the price overnight of the cost of LNG. El Paso Company (and other energy suppliers) were not able to absorb or pass along the price increase to their customers and as a result, US companies and others abandoned Algeria as a supplier. ---
As the demand for energy increases, LNG continues to provide an important global fuel source for homes, industry and clean-burn vehicles (cars, trucks and bus lines) through other sources.
No, I don't work for the oil and natural gas industry. I'm an old guy on a farm in Central Texas growing a patch of Jatropha trees, hoping to produce bio-diesel in a couple of years... Stay tuned and I hope to put a video on YouTube showing my experiment (Jatropha trees) here on my farm.---
I grew up in El Paso, Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso. It has always been a great source of pride for me to see the name EL PASO in so many locations around the world. El Paso was and continues to be a great, diverse and tolerant city here in the United States and I am very proud of my old hometown, despite having moved away 30 years ago.
As far as ships and the sea, I think I might have missed my true calling.
