Iran launched its first locally made rocket into space simultaneously with the inauguration of its first domestic satellite complex. The rocket, dubbed Kavoshgar (explorer), was sent off to space from the launch pad on an official order from the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
کاوشگر فضایی ایران پرتاب شد. نخستین کاوشگر فضایی ایران که با تلاش شبانه روزی متخصصان وزارت دفاع و پشتیبانی نیروی مسلح ایران به صورت کاملا بومی طراحی و ساخته شده امروز دوشنبه به فضا پرتاب شد. نخستین کاوشگر فضایی ایران به منظور تعیین مکان صحیح استقرار ماهواره، برداشت اطلاعات از محیط فضایی پرتاب گرها، ایستگاههای فضایی، ماهواره ها و کپسول های برگشت پذیر در جو مورد نظر وظیفه خود را آغاز کرد. راکت کاوشی که امروز به فضا پرتاب شد از جمله مقدمات اولیه پرتاب ماهواره به فضاست. کاربرد دیگر این راکت کاوشی آزمایش سیستم های طراحی شده برای استفاده در سامانه های فضایی است به این منظور سیستمی در این کاوشگر قرار داده شده است که در شرایط عملکردی واقعی قرار میگیرد. هدف دیگر پرتاب نخستین کاوشگر فضایی ایران، برداشت اطلاعات از لایه های مختلف جو برای طراحی و ساخت کپسول های برگشت پذیر به جو است. متخصصان وزارت دفاع کشورمان همچنین توانسته اند ایستگاه پرتاب ماهواره را طراحی کنند و بسازند که نخستین ایستگاه پرتاب ماهواره نیز امروز به بهره برداری رسید و از این پس دیگر ایران هیچ نیازی به کشورهای خارجی برای پرتاب ماهواره ندارد

| Iran Test Launches Kavoshgar-1 Space Rocket - 222 sec
Iran launched a rocket on Monday designed to send its first homemade research satellite into orbit in the next year, state television said.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad read out the launch countdown before the rocket blasted off to chants of "God is greatest" by an audience of officials in a control room, state TV reported.
TV footage showed the rocket soaring into the sky from a desert launch pad, leaving a vapor trail. A parachute appeared to drop from the rocket shortly after the launch. State television gave few details about the rocket.
State media said the research satellite, called Omid (Hope), would be launched by March 2009.

Iran's Kavoshgar1 lifts off for space
Iran has launched a domestic sounding rocket into space simultaneously with the inauguration of its first domestic satellite complex.
The rocket, dubbed Kavoshgar1, was sent off to space from the launch pad on an official order from the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who attended the opening ceremony of the complex.
The suborbital research rocket took off at Iran's space launch base, which is specifically built for sending Iranian rockets into outer space from inside the country.
A sounding rocket is an instrument-carrying rocket designed to take measurements and perform scientific experiments during its suborbital flight.
Kavoshgar1 was launched as a preliminary step towards sending the 'Omid Satellite' into orbit. Omid is the first advanced scientific research satellite exclusively designed and made by Iranian scientists.
Issuing his command for launch in the name of God, President Ahmadinejad expressed hope this would be a leap forward in Iran's advancement as well as spiritual growth.
Iran, which aims to launch five satellites into orbit by 2010, joined the international space-faring community in February 2007 after successfully testing its first sounding rocket.

Iran achieved a historic milestone with the launch of research rocket Kavoshgar-1 (explorer), which made it to space orbit on Monday, 4 February 2008. Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was present for the test and gave the launch orders himself. Kavoshgar-1 was fired from a missile base in the Semnan desert, southeast of Tehran. Before the test firing, president Ahmadinejad also inaugurated the first national space terminal, comprising of Omid (Hope) satellite, Iran's first homemade developed research satellite which has been designed and constructed by the Iranian experts. Iran's space terminal has been designed to send Iran's first homemade research satellite into orbit in the near future

On August 17th 2008, Iran succesfully sent its satellite carrier vehicle Safir-1 (Envoy-1) into low earth orbit, thanks to which remote sensing, satellite telemetry, geometric information system technology, as well as remote and ground station data processing were tested. The event followed test launches of the Kavoshgar (Explorer) satellite carrier earlier this year.
Safir-1 will be used to put into space Omid (Hope), as well as a series of further satellites by 2010. These will fulfill primarily environmental (natural disaster management, geology, etc) and telecommunications functions.
Both Omid satellite and its three-stage Safir-1 launch vehicle are of entirely domestic production, demonstrating the nation's ongoing and sustained drive towards industrial and technological self-sufficiency, in addition to marking Iran's entry into a restricted group of just nine countries that master and field satellite launching capability.
The newest effort in Iran's space program, was warmly welcomed by the public all over the Arab and Muslim world. Former member of the Syrian People's Assembly, Mohammad Habash, stresses Iran's right to autonomous progress and development, achievements that all Muslim societies strive for. Therefore, Muslims feel honored by Iran's success, whereby the Islamic world can now compete with the USA and Europe in these fields.
Despite the USA-led opposition to Iran's peaceful nuclear program and the ensuing economic sanctions, the Islamic Republic has managed to pursue its space program and other scientific developments in a steady manner.
