I haven't edited this. I've only translated it and added subtitles. In a couple of places, the words were kind of hard to make out, so hopefully I hope I didn't make too many errors.
Here also is a translation of Mathieu's original accompanying text:
"I discovered David Belle through District B13, and I had the chance to meet and work with him in Babylon AD. I discovered a man who has elevated his art form at an international level, despite himself. This situation exceeded and motived him.
Parkour is, for me, a natural child of Breakdancing, and hides a thought process and way of life that is close to martial arts.
David is quiet and reserved, he does not like to have to explain what he is doing and what he is looking for, the work is internal and he imposes it on himself daily, in the same way that his father taught him. The youth of the world are discovering this new form of urban expression and are discovering their own capabilities and limitations. We all wanted to fly, jump, and become animals. David did it.
I think in a few years, we will remember him in the same way that we now remember the founders of martial arts such as karate and judo.
After the interview, I invite those who have not yet had the chance, the opportunity to discover in images, the Parkour of David Belle. Hold your breath.

crítica de la sociedad francesa de finales de siglo XX.
La película cuenta 24 horas de la vida de tres jóvenes, Vinz, Saïd y Hubert que malviven en el parisino suburbio de Les Muguets. Pero hoy es distinto, porque los suburbios marginales de la Ciudad de la Luz, amanecen tomados al asalto por la policía. La razón no es otra que el agitado y violento combate nocturno que las fuerzas de seguridad han librado contra un ejército de jóvenes de esos barrios tras la paliza que Abdel Ichah,ha recibido en una comisaría de policía y que le ha ocasionado heridas que lo tienen a las puertas de la muerte. El retrato de las andanzas de estos tres jóvenes por la geografía que habitan es impresionante, son los olvidados del próximo siglo XXI, los marginados. La frustración, el rencor, la imposibilidad de abrirse un camino,es el criadero d odio.
La policía y los jóvenes, ambos víctimas del mismo orden, establecen así una lucha sordomuda,una guerra civil en toda regla el odio alimentado con odio, la violencia como única forma de sacudirlo, la frustración convertida en venganza ciega. Los tres muchachos alternan con otros de igual calaña en su barrio, se pelean, se insultan... Pero también hay lugar para comprobar que bajo el telón de tanto odio, hay sitio para los sentimientos sinceros, la amistad y la camaradería, aunque haya que disimularla por el qué dirán.
La esperanza la ponen Saïd y Hubert, que aun habiendo crecido en el mismo ambiente hostil, son contenidos, comprensivos, tienen capacidad de asombro, aunque serán devorados por la misma vorágine de la que no pueden escapar, al igual que los policías bienintencionados que sucumben igualmente al clima de odio. En ese aspecto la dura escena final es el mensaje de pesimismo que Kassovitz envía: las víctimas siguen siendo las mismas, cambian las generaciones, los rostros de los jóvenes y de los agentes del orden, pero siguen y seguirán muriendo o sufriendo por ambos lados, y alimentando un odio recíproco que debería dirigirse a otros estamentos.

O filmie
Żeby czterokrotnie znaleźć się na liście płac jednego filmu, trzeba mieć ogromne zasługi i wzbudzić ogromne zaufanie producentów. Mathieu Kassovitz zdobył takie uznanie realizując swój poprzedni film - NIENAWIŚĆ. Niesamowity sukces u krytyków i publiczności nie tylko we Francji. Czarno-biała opowieść ukazująca jeden dzień z życia młodzieży z podparyskiego osiedla , zrealizowana niemal jak film dokumentalny była bardzo surowa w przedstawianiu spraw, ale przez to była opowieścią bardzo prawdziwą. Ten film dotarł do młodych odbiorców bo pokazywał ich prawdziwy świat. I stąd tak ogromny sukces.
Mathieu Kassovitz stał się największą nadzieją współczesnego kina francuskiego. Nie dziwi więc fakt, że z taką niecierpliwością oczekiwana była premiera kolejnego jego filmu. ZABÓJCA zakwalifikowany został do konkursu jubileuszowego 50 MFF w Cannes, i tam odbyła się jego premiera.
Już jego poprzedni film nie był pozbawiony drastycznych scen, ale ZABÓJCA przesiąknięty jest mocnymi, brutalnymi obrazami. To oczywiście wywołało mieszane uczucia (u krytyków i widzów) i brak reakcji u jury tegorocznego festiwalu w Cannes.
Powód jest dość prosty. Bohaterem filmu jest bowiem starzejący się płatny morderca. Wagner (Michel Serrault) wie, że jego praca w tym biznesie dobiega końca, szuka więc następcy, który przejmie jego wiedzę i doświadczenie. Wybór 25-letniego Maxa okazuje się chybiony, mimo że chłopak dostaje dobrą lekcję, mimo że dostaje nawet zlecenie, okazuje się człowiekiem zbyt miękkim do tej roboty. Wagner znajduje kolejnego ucznia, 15- letniego Mehdiego. Wychowywany przez telewizję wydaje się nie mieć żadnych skrupułów i sumienia. Propozycję od Wagnera przyjmuje z ochotą.
Krytyka reżysera skierowana jest w stronę telewizji (co na to pan Oliver Stone?), która epatuje zbrodnią i okrucieństwem, ale podobnie jest przecież z ZABÓJCĄ. Sam reżyser broni swojego filmu mówiąc, że widać w filmie morderców, ale nie widać ofiar, że film ten powstał by obrzydzić ludziom przemoc i agresję. "Znajdą się też i tacy, którzy nie zrozumieją intencji, które mną kierowały"
Takie reakcje powodują, że film staje się wydarzeniem, że mamy do czynienia z ważnym filmem, bo musimy ten film obejrzeć sami by włączyć się do dyskusji.
I jeszcze jeden fragment rozmowy z reżyserem:
Czy ZABÓJCA to film pokoleniowy?
M.K. Jak najbardziej. Trzej bohaterowie reprezentują przeszłość, teraźniejszość, przyszłość. Wiedza przechodzi z pokolenia na pokolenie, ale zmieniają się sposoby jej przyswajania, zmienia się także wizja społeczeństwa i życia. Dzisiejszy 15-latek dzięki licznym kanałom TV ma nieograniczony dostęp do informacji. Na podstawie tego kształtuje swoją wiedzę o świecie. Dlatego trzeba bardzo uważać co się dzieciom pokazuje. Dziś najbardziej brutalne są właśnie nastolatki.
Dobrze więc, że w naszych kinach film ten przeznaczony jest tylko dla widzów dorosłych.
Tylko czy dobrze się dzieje, że ten film trafia na nasze ekrany po serii tylu tragedii, z udziałem naszej młodzieży.
Czy jest to celowy głos w dyskusji nad przemocą panującą wśród młodych ludzi?

"J'ai découvert David Belle a travers B13, et j'ai eu la chance de le rencontrer et travailler avec lui dans Babylon A.D. J'ai découvert un homme qui a elevé son art à un niveau international malgré lui. Cette situation le dépasse et le motive. Le Parkour est pour moi l'enfant naturel du Break dance, et cache une véritable pensée et un mode de vie proche des arts martiaux. David est discret et réservé, il n'aime pas avoir à s'expliquer sur ce qu'il fait et ce qu'il recherche, c'est un travail intérieur qu'il s'impose au quotidien, tout comme son père lui a appris. Des jeunes du monde entier découvrent ce nouveau moyen d'expression urbain et découvrent leur propre capacités et limites. On a tous voulu voler, bondir, et redevenir animal. David l'a fait. Je pense que dans quelques années, on se souviendra de lui comme on se souvient aujourd'hui encore des fondateurs d'art martiaux tel que le Karaté et le Judo.
