I saw great duttar player Mr. Abdurehim Heyit at a small musical instruments shop in Kashgar. I met him by chance when I was traveling Kashgar. He is the most famous duttar player in Uyghur. In this video, he seems to relax and enjoy playing the duttar in his hometown. He was very gentle, friendly person.
旅行でカシュガルに行き偶然入った職人街の民族楽器店でとても素晴らしいドタールの演奏が見られました。店の人が、演奏しているのはウイグルで大変有名なドタール演奏家Abdurehim Heyit氏だと教えてくれました。彼の故郷カシュガルの馴染みの楽器屋で仲間達とリラックスして試し弾きしていたようでした。この動画では、哀愁あるイスラム調でありまた時にロック風もあり、途中で転調まであります。演奏している途中で、この楽器には弦がたったの2本しかないということに気づいてとても驚きました。店に入っていきなり動画を撮り始めた無礼な外国人に対して怒る事もなく温かく接してくれて、カシュガル滞在の中でも最も嬉しい出来事の1つとなりました。

My friend Jason Carter turns the table around and tries to sell his watch. At the end, the local salesmen wanted to do a bartering trade: a camel statue to his sun glasses - which are worth $265.
I liked the clothing details in the local salesmen, and the contrast between Jason and the locals.

Special Report: 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
The Olympic torch relay continues its domestic tour, and it has just passed through its second stop in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region: Kashgar city.
The relay started at 9:45 this morning at the Id Kah Square. A total of 208 torchbearers participated, the same number as the previous stop in Urumqi. The first torchbearer was Chinese ace "high-wire" walker Adili. Adili is the descendant of a Uygur family with a 430-year history in a field of acrobatics known as "Dawazi" in western China.
The relay covered a distance of 6.5 kilometers and lasted about 2 hours. It ended at the Kashgar People's Square. Kashgar is west of the Taklamakan Desert in Southern Xinjiang and about 1500 kilometers from Umruqi.
The torch relay will be held in two other cites in the region, first in Shihezi and then Changji.
