Kareem is an autistic, 12 yrs old boy, who has been included in mainstream schools through all his educational history. This Special Olympics -Socially interactive- experience is the harvest of the inclusion of an autistic child starting as early as pre-school age.
Kareem was part of Team Egypt to the Global Youth Summit (GYS) Oct. 2007 during the Special Olympics World Summer games in Shanghai China.
Till the day he participated in the summit he always found it hard to talk about his special abilities. After he came back from GYS he started to accept to be opened up and speak out.
I believe it is a very inspiring story and a brave attempt from him -as a first timer- to tell about his special abilities.

"And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay was of a mother in Arlington Cemetery, and she had her head on the headstone of her son's grave. And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone. And it gave his awards -- Purple Heart, Bronze Star -- showed that he died in Iraq, gave his date of birth, date of death. He was 20 years old.
"And then, at the very top of the headstone, it didnt have a Christian cross; it didn't have the Star of David; it had crescent and a star of the Islamic faith. And his name was Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, and he was an American. He was born in New Jersey.
