This is the longest stage/boss battle in the game in Boss Replay mode (fast-forwards through non-boss areas).
There were 3 miss/bombs that should've been avoided, and maybe a 4th. The Fujiyama Volcano spellcard really sucked for me, and it was the first time I reached her Last Spell, so I died pretty quickly on that.
Fixed my recording so the slight pause in the middle's gone, and also improved the quality slightly.

Note: Mokou also uses "Resurrection" to come back to life after each death except for the last few cards. She's actually immortal (hence all her phoenix-themed spellcards) because she drank the elixir of immortality.

 | | Touhou 'Imperishable Night' - MIDI out to Yamaha PSR-E313 - 610 sec
Demonstration of Imperishable Night set to MIDI music in the Options, playing through my Yamaha keyboard. The keyboard's display lets you see the notes as they're played (the notes on Channel 1 of the MIDI, so sometimes nothing shows up).
I'm having trouble getting it to set up the channels properly, i.e. what should be PERCUSSION comes out as PIANO. That is, until I start playing a MIDI file on the keyboard itself - at that point, it sets up its channels properly. That means it's restricted to playing the Touhou music using instrument sets from the MIDIs I have stored on the keyboard at the moment.
So what I'm doing is getting the Imperishable Night music playing on my computer as MIDI, it goes to my keyboard, then I start and immediately pause another unrelated MIDI on the keyboard itself, to force it to set its channels up properly. This means you're hearing the Touhou music using different sets of instruments than intended to (the instruments of the unrelated MIDIs). I use a few random unrelated MIDIs, so you get to hear the music in a few different sets of instruments.
When I unplugged the MIDI cable, it was to prove that it really is playing in realtime. I want to connect the MIDI out of my computer to the MIDI in of my computer, and record, to 'extract' the MIDI files from the game. But I need to get some little adaptor to allow me to connect 2 male cables to each other.
EDIT: Yet again, I spent a long time making sure the video and audio were in sync, but YouTube never fails to mess it up. Sorry about the sudden uselessness of this video. Hopefully it sounds okay...
EDIT 2: Because several people have wanted to use their keyboards as a MIDI output device and not known exactly where to start, I'll try to explain...
You need to connect your computer's soundcard to your keyboard via a MIDI cable. This means you either need a soundcard with external MIDI out (such as what I use, an M-Audio Audiophile 2496), or you can connect your own wires to the game port on your soundcard (there are tutorials online for doing this, but I can't help you, sorry).
Then you'll just need to set that soundcard to be the default MIDI device (Control Panel, 'Sound(etc)' on XP, 'Multimedia' on 98, no idea on Vista ><). My keyboard listens to MIDI input from power-up, and many other keyboards are probably the same. ;)
Then use any program which uses MIDI (this and other games, or even simply a media player with a MIDI file to test it).

Me clearing level 1 of Imperishable Night on lunatic difficulty level without getting hit or using a bomb. I know I don't clear the final spell, but it's close enough that I'm counting it!
This was the first video I did, so I'm aware it didn't capture the sound from the game (shame too, some sweet music). I added my own music instead. The song is called "Strict Machine" by "Goldfrapp".
I'm aware there is some slowdown near the end, the game was played through during 60 FPS, but for some reason my computer (3800+, 2gigs ram, 7800GT) takes a shit when I record the video.

This is the B route on Lunatic difficulty in Boss Replay mode (fast forwards throughs the normal enemies) which takes you against Marisa Kirisame. (The game has two different stage 4 bosses, and if you use Marisa's team, then you fight against Reimu, one of the characters in the team I'm using)
This was just a practice run to unlock Marisa's Last Spell. Not that good of a run, but it shows what playing Touhou games (and danmaku in general) is like.
Will likely be replaced as I improve the replay.

A recent run through Touhou 8's (Imperishable Night) Extra Stage. Unlike my Phantasm video, I actually went into this one with a couple of goals in mind, although looking back I wish I'd settled on something that didn't end up driving me insane.
I'd lost count of the number of failed attempts I'd made by this point, and I was honestly considering quitting before I damaged my laptop (by throwing it out of the window). Fortunately, this run happened shortly afterwards.
Since this is shorter than the Phantasm video, I've left everything at normal speed.

Yukari Yakumo's last word, "Profound Danmaku Bounded Field -Phantasm, Foam and Shadow-". That's quite a mouthful. This is the last spell that you should have to clear (in theory anyway), being that it's spell number 222/222, but most have some final B spells leftover when they finish this one.
I was worried I had lost this replay. It was recorded a while ago and I had unfortunately misplaced it. Luckily I dug it up and got to make a video out of it. I do some grazing throughout here, only because working out the tactics to this spell gets pretty boring. I have it all sussed out nowadays, thankfully. Took 283 tries.

Run through of the extra stage on Imperishable Night. Only one death, which was embarassing. I forgot which spell I was on, and everything cascades into failure from that point on. I recover but unfortunately fail to capture the last spell.
My goal was to no death run this whole thing. To be honest, I don't think i'm too far off achieving such a feat. If i'd just avoided some stupid mistakes I would've done it here. This was attempt 500 or so trying to do it. The first spellcard has a history of roughly 380/400.

Timing this out is made far more difficult than just capturing it, as when you time it out you actually have to move around the screen to avoid the really dense waves of small stars that Marisa throws out every so often.

This a replay on fast-forward until bosses. It's the extra stage of imperishable night, also called touhou 8, and i cleared it with sakuya and remilia.
One thing to note is that i deleted a part of the video that features the alst spell, but i died rather quickly on it so you arent missing much, besides if i didnt delete it, it wouldve been over 10mins and i wouldnt have been eable to upload it because of youtube's upload limit -.-
Also, ignore my total noobish mistake on the spellcard 202 (Hourai "Fujiyama Volcano"), i dont even know why i tried going the other way, especially when i had it beat.
This is prob the biggest imperishable night video ill upload, so enjoy it ;p
Also forgive me for the little lack of sound/image sync at some places, my comp is not pro enough so i cant record videos flawlessly. (note that i recorded this and it was 10mins 12 sec long, and when i chronoed the whole thing it took 9mins 20 seconds wihthout recording, so theres is some lag here and there.)

Also, I hope that this helps convince people that Marisa is so easier than Reimu on Lunatic.

I felt I was playing too much NON-Touhou music lately, so I hope this little Touhou medley of mine makes up for it (it had better do, the hours I spent practising >_<).
Inspired by the great music from Touhou 08: Imperishable Night.
The keyboard is plugged into my soundcard INPUT, and my headphones are plugged into my soundcard OUTPUT. That way, you get as close to perfect audio as possible (no hiss from a microphone), and I can hear what I'm playing as I play it, without disturbing other people in the house.
I know Mystia's part was short, but I was having so much trouble with it that I decided to just stick to what I was happy with playing. Keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-E313.
