On 10 Feb 2008, Anonymous staged historic demonstrations against the Church of Scientology worldwide. The church called Anonymous "cyber-terrorists" and "bigots," and withdrew back into the shadows.

As Project Chanology continues, thousands of people worldwide will protest on March 15th against the Church of Scientology's abuse of its members and critics. Anonymous will picket at local Church of Scientology centers around the world, beginning at 11 a.m. local time. Anonymous has been increasing the public awareness regarding the abuses and corruption of the church, whilst simultaneously acquiring and spreading new information about the Church of Scientology obtained from their increasing number of informants within the church, as part of its campaign to systematically dismantle the Church of Scientology in it's present form.
The date of March 15th, referred to as Operation Party Hard,The Ides of March" has been chosen as it falls near a major Scientology holiday, the birthday of Church founder L. Ron Hubbard. The 15th also marks the death of Ellie Perkins, a Scientologist who was killed by her son Jeremy. Jeremy, a sufferer of the disease schizophrenia was denied Psychiatric drugs, and was instead treated with auditing and vitamins . Anonymous intends to continue its campaign to educate the public about the true nature of the Church of Scientology; with the March 15th protest, and future events such as Operation Reconnect.
Scheduled to take place during April, Operation Reconnect will shine a spotlight on families torn apart by the Church of Scientology. The aim is to bring these families together, with a number of the disconnected making public pleas to the relatives and friends - to "reconnect" with them.
On the 15th of March, Anonymous intends to bring "cake, good will and the gift of information."

An absolutely terrific but criminally under-appreciated indie-folk/sadcore album released in 1995 from the late singer-songwriter Elliott Smith. To put it in terms that show how amazing this guy was as a musician, I'll put it this way: the 1960s was Bob Dylan and Donovan, the 1970s was Jackson Browne and Paul Simon, the 1980s was Tom Waits and Tracy Chapman, and in the 1990s there was Elliott Smith. Although he never reached mainstream popularity as much as his predecessors, I think what will ultimately make his music transcend being trapped in the stereotypes of the post-grunge era is because he is most appreciated by musicians, record collectors, and independent critics and not a product of being commodified by the mainstream and MTV.
Smith was one the cornerstones of a new wave of "alternative" singer-songwriters from the late 80s onwards that drew not just from folk but also from hard rock and punk. To describe his sound would be 'melancholy pop and downbeat or fragile folk' and to me is best suited for late-night listening and late-night drinking; a music for the introspective and solitary to find comfort in.
Although his self-titled second album isn't his most approachable—I would give that credit to the more pop-oriented XO from 1998—for me this is where it started, this is where I became a lifelong fan of his music and if you can like this album, I'm sure you'll like the rest of his material. Thanks to Kill Rock Stars (great name by the way) for releasing this record and go buy the rest of his stuff if you like this.
Enough of this chatting, just listen.
