This is my third (recorded) improv session, since it's been a while since the last one. Once again, I'm not too happy with the outcome; too muddy in many regards, slurred chords, odd harmonics, but generally decent and good enough for youtube. I listened to Tim Burton and his wondrous music before (Nightmare Before Christmas), so that perhaps gave me some inspiration towards abstract notes and chords.

Another improvisation, after listening endlessly to Final Fantasy songs. This one has slightly less oomph than the last one, but I still like it since it's cleaner.
I finally decided to title my improvisations, starting with this one. "Quest for the Truth" somehow fit. I have no idea how to explain, it just fit.
After listening to the recording, I noticed that I brought back the melody from previous songs and the motif from Fire and Ice (a student film for which I composed the soundtrack). I really like how this one came out.

I've always wanted to play this. Bounty Hunter was written for full orchestra; about 58 instruments and a 60+ member choir. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was about 137 pieces short and had to compress Tallarico's beautiful composition into a piano solo. This is an arrangement by ear. I do not have sheet music, but official arrangements are on sale. Buy them, they are excellent.

Happy New Year y'all! I return with a camera and recorded music!
This is "Stampede" ("...To Die For" in some releases) from The Lion King, the best Disney movie. (This is a proven fact.) After buying every Lion King sheet music book available, I was disappointed that none had the best and most dramatic song in the whole trilogy of The Lion King.
I'm not happy with this version yet, as it is a bit sloppy and rushed. If I get around to actually writing sheet music, I will upload another version. But so far, this is just an arrangement by ear, there IS NO SHEET MUSIC. DO NOT ASK.

I'm still alive! [t'was a triumph, great success...]
I recorded this about a month ago - sorry, no video. I only had a microphone on me, and I'm still trying to find a video camera for recording.
This improv turned out a bit more harmonious than I expected, so here you are. It's primarily an experiment; there are "mistakes," if you see misplaced harmonies and very intentional accidentals as such. When I improvise, I tend to imagine a scene, like for a film, then fit the music to the mood of the scene. Here I was imagining a storm, so hence the title.
No sheet music!

Hey; I managed to make my camera work!
This is probably one of my all-time favorite pieces. If you have not seen the anime, please do so now; you have missed out on life until you've watched it. It is licensed in the US, so you should be able to get your hands on it.
"Seijaku no Toki" means "Time of Silence" unless I am mistaken. T'was composed by the wonderful Anze Hijiri who composed about half of the soundtrack for Utawarerumono alongside Nakamura Miyu. I learned this piece by ear; there is no sheet music for it. Please don't ask for any.

And now for something completely different.
As much I've always enjoyed jazz, I never got around to learning any. Besides plowing through books and tutorials about jazz theory, tritone blues, boogie woogie basses, and the various scale degrees and their functions (dorian, phrygian, mixolydian, etc)... I just never got a taste. After re-watching The Legend of 1900 (an AMAZING MOVIE, btw), I sat down and played a bit.
Here's the collection of mashed chords and notes, endearingly entitled "Faux Jazz." I'll let you figure out the "faux" part...

This is the final cut of our senior year film project "Fire and Ice" at Montgomery High School.
Besides producing, editing, videographing/filming and working partially on the sound design, I composed the complete score - which is available on my website: http://music.sebastianwolff.info/#fireandice .
YouTube quality is 320x240 pixels with mono sound. We filmed in widescreen at DVD quality and muxed the audio to 5.1 surround-sound.
