This classic piece of fingerpicking was written by Elizabeth Cotten around 1907. While I was recording this video I realized how totally irrelevant the words are to my life. It's all well and good for Peter, Paul and Mary but I felt pretty silly singing these lyrics. With each verse that I sang I was starting to go "round the bend". I think I'll shut my mouth in future and just play the damn thing.

Guitar used here: 1999 Yairi DY-71 This is a dreadnaught that I mostly just use for flatpicking solos and it's great for that. It's not great sounding for fingerpicking though, but since this song has some of both I went ahead and used the Yairi. Listening back to it--probably shouldn't have used the Taylor. Oh well... (Geronimo's last words).
Tuning: Standard but down a whole step. Low to high is: DGCFAD
Microphone: Oktava MC-012 (I have a pair of them I generally use for stereo recordings, but here I'm just using one of them).
Compressor: Behringer Composer Pro-XL (I have a much more expensive DBX 160XT, but I use that in my live rig because it's not stereo).
Reverb: Unknown. I have an old Alesis unit that I'm real find of, but I may have just used something in one of my DAW apps here. I don't remember.
