After proving more than a match for American, French, British and other pilots in wargames over the last few years, IAF fighter pilots will now face the biggest test of them all — the famous American Red Flag aerial combat exercise.
"We will be going for Red Flag, the world's ultimate exercise, around August 2008. The Americans have expressed their keen interest in us going there with our latest Sukhoi-30MKI fighters... we probably will not disappoint them," said a senior IAF officer.
It was at Gwalior in February 2004 that IAF pilots flying Sukhois and other jets had crossed swords with USAF pilots in their F-15C fighters in the "Cope India" dissimilar air combat training exercise, the first such wargames between the two forces since 1963. And, in what had come as a huge shock to USAF pilots, IAF pilots had more or less outgunned them in the skies, recording most of the "kills" in direct air combat. A few months after that, IAF pilots flew Jaguar strike fighters all the way to Alaska to participate in the multinational Cope-Thunder exercise there. Then, in November 2005, despite objections from Left parties like CPM and CPI, the next Cope India exercise at Kalaikunda in West Bengal saw IAF fighters take on the American F-16s.

Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight was in a Los Angeles court for a hearing to allow his creditors to question his finances. Earlier this year, Knight filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in an effort to avoid losing control of Death Row Records. At the hearing Knight attempted to explain that the Death Row Records suffered financially while he was incarcerated and that he never saw profit and loss statements. Knight has over $100 million in debt including a $107 million judgment against him. According to Knight, his only assets include a bank account containing $11, clothing worth $1,000, furniture and appliances valued at $2,000, and jewelry worth $25,000.
Rap impresario Suge Knight refused to file a police report or cooperate with police after being knocked out outside a Los Angeles night club.
Knight got into an argument with another man, and then he and his companions allegedly knocked the other man to the ground. The man allegedly landed a blow on Knight's face that made him unconscious for about three minutes.
"I want my money," Knight was overheard saying to the man.
The altercation took place May 10th outside Shag nightclub.
His companions put Knight into an sports utility vehicle. A woman at the wheel tried to drive away but was removed from the vehicle after she hit a parked car and then reversed into another one. Another driver then took over.
Police attempted to interview Knight at the hospital.
Knight, one of the co-founders of Death Row Records, was one of the most influential promoters in rap in the mid-1990s. In 1997, he was jailed on a parole violation.

A shark attack is an attack on a human by a shark. Every year, a number of people are attacked by sharks, although most survive. Despite the relative rarity of shark attacks, the fear of sharks is a common phenomenon, having been fueled by the occasional instances of attacks, such as the Jersey Shore shark attacks of 1916, and by sensationalized fiction and film, such as the Jaws series. Many shark experts feel that the danger presented by sharks has been exaggerated, and even the creator of the Jaws phenomenon, the late Peter Benchley, attempted to dispel the myth of sharks being man-eating monsters in recent years.
Statistics
In 2000, there were 79 shark attacks reported worldwide, 11 of them fatal. In 2005 and 2006 this number dropped to 61 and 62 respectively, while the number of fatalities dropped to only four per year. Of these attacks, the majority occurred in the United States (53 in 2000, 40 in 2005 and 38 in 2006). [1] For the same period, the Global Shark Attack File records 69 unprovoked attacks of which five were fatal.[2]
The Florida Museum of Natural History points out that these numbers should be compared with the much higher deaths from other, less feared causes; for example, several hundred people die annually from lightning strikes.[3]

Contrary to popular belief, only a few sharks are dangerous to humans. Out of more than 360 species, only four have been involved in a significant number of fatal unprovoked attacks on humans: the great white, tiger, oceanic whitetip shark[4] and bull sharks.[5] These sharks, being large, powerful predators may sometimes attack and kill people, but all of the above sharks, even the great white, have been filmed in open water, with no cage,[6][7] time and time again without problems.
Modern day statistics do not show that the oceanic whitetip shark has often been involved in unprovoked attacks in the past, especially during World War I and World War II. The oceanic whitetip lives in the open sea and rarely shows up near coasts, where nowadays most incidents occur. During the world wars many ships and aircraft disasters have happened in the open ocean. And due to its abundance the oceanic whitetip is often the first species on site when such a disaster happens.
Infamous examples of oceanic whitetip attacks include the sinking of the Nova Scotia, a steamship carrying 1000 that was sunk near South Africa by a German submarine in World War II. Only 192 people survived, with many deaths attributed to the oceanic whitetip shark.[8] Another example was the torpedoing of the USS Indianapolis on 30 July 1945, giving a minimal figure of 60--80 killed by oceanic whitetips.[9] Some survivors stated that tiger sharks were involved too.

More than 800 people are missing after a passenger ship in the Philippines capsized during a typhoon. Six people have so far been confirmed dead and ten others are known to have survived the disaster.
On land, Typhoon Fengshen has killed over 200 people and left a trail of destruction across the country.
More than 840 people were on board the ferry. Almost all of them are missing. The vessel's owner, Sulpicio Lines, said it lost contact with the ferry while it was en route to Cebu from Manila at noon on Saturday.
The company's spokesperson said a large number of survivors might have reached a nearby island.
A janitor on the ship estimated about 100 people could have survived, but the others were trapped inside.
The coast guard who finally reached the area didn't find any life signs.
Philippine coastguard spokesman LT commander Armand Balilo said, "But at the moment, there's no indication or any signs of any survivors or cadavers in the area. But they will continue the search and rescue operation. They have been the vessel already, and they're continuing the search and rescue operation."
Typhoon Fengshen has killed at least 229 people in central and southern Philippines,including 101 in Iloilo province, where floodwaters submerged entire communities. More than 20,000 people were being housed in evacuation centers.
Tens of thousands of people in the province remain marooned on the roofs of their submerged houses.
After battering Manila on Sunday, Fengshen was expected to exit the north of the country by Monday en route to Taiwan, where it could make landfall in the next few days.

The newest survey of nationwide gas prices shows over the last two weeks, Americans are paying an average of 10 cents more for a gallon of gas. Regular gas comes in at $4.10. Saudi Arabia now says it will pump out more crude if that will help bring prices down. This ferry capsized off the coast of the Philippines yesterday in a typhoon. There were more that 800 people on board. So far, only 38 survivors have been found and hopes are dwindling that more survivors will be found even as bodies begin washing ashore in the area.Daredevil funny man George Carlin has died. His publicist says he went to a hospital yesterday complaining of chest pains. That's where his heart failed. He says he'll leave - but not until president Robert Mugabe assures him he will be safe.During a Dutch radio interview Tsvangirai said he'll probably be leaving the Embassy Tuesday or Wednesday, but he hesitated when the interviewer asked if he would be safe when he left.Senegal's president says Tsvangirai was running from soldiers when he went to the Embassy. He also released a statement saying there's no guarantee the soldiers won't attack the Embassy.The U-N says what's happening in Zimbabwe makes a fair vote in the upcoming elections impossible.SOT: Ban Ki-moon, United Nations secretary-general: "There has been too much violence, too much intimidation. A vote held in these conditions would lack all legitimacy." Zimbabwe's ambassador to the UN denies there is any state-sanctioned violence.SOT: Boniface Chidyausiku, Zimbabwe ambassador to the UN: "The state organs - the army, the police - are not involved in any form of violence in Zimbabwe." But the UN is condemning the ongoing violence there and the government's denial of it.SOT: Zalmay Khalilzad, current Security Council president: "The Security Council condemns the campaign of violence against the political opposition ahead of the second round of presidential elections scheduled for 27 June which has resulted in the killing of scores of opposition activists and other Zimbabweans and the beating and displacement of thousands of people, including many women and children. The Security Council further condemns the actions of the government of Zimbabwe that have denied its political opponents the right to campaign freely and calls upon the government of Zimbabwe to stop the violence." It's not clear who will represent the opposition party in upcoming elections. Tsvangirai pulled out of the race calling it a sham, but the Zibabwean government says voting will go on as scheduled. The number two man in the party has been arrested and charged with treason.
