Amphetamine Discharge fue una banda de Sevilla (España) que se formó en el año 1991. Su música se sitúa entre el punk-pop, el rock y el hardcore.
La formación inicial de Amphetamine Discharge fue:
- Aurora López Moreno: voz y guitarra.
- Joaquin "Loco" Díaz Fernández: guitarra.
- José Antonio "Prima" López Moreno: bajo y coros.
- Rafael Montero: batería.
Tras una primera maqueta con la que ganan algunos festivales andaluces, Amphetamine Discharge se dan a conocer en la escena independiente española en 1993 con su segunda maqueta, la cual resulta ganadora por votación popular del concurso de maquetas del programa de radio Disco Grande (Radio Nacional de España, Radio 3).
Gracias al primer premio conseguido en 1994 en la segunda edición del concurso San Pepe Rock celebrada en Campillos (Málaga), Amphetamine Discharge consiguen fichar por Roto Records, quienes editan en 1994 "Rotaflex", su disco de debut, grabado con muy pocos medios en los estudios Central de Sevilla y producido por Alfonso Espadero.
Realizan una gira de presentación por España. En julio de 1995 tocan junto a Oasis y The Cure en la Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas (Madrid) y en diciembre son los teloneros de Elastica en tres de los conciertos de su gira española: Barcelona, Valencia y Madrid.
En 1996 Roto Records publica el segundo disco de Amphetamine Discharge, "Parking". El disco fue grabado en los estudios Coyote de Nueva York a las órdenes de Andy Shernoff (The Dictators). Durante la grabación contaron con la colaboración de Dennis Diken (The Smithereens) a la batería.
Pocos días antes de comenzar la grabación del disco, Rafa, el batería, había dejado el grupo y posteriormente lo sustituyó Manolo Fernández Ramos.
En 1997 una canción de su disco "Parking", "Glamour", es incluida en la banda sonora de la película de Alejandro Amenábar "Abre los ojos".
Inicialmente, Amenábar les pidió que compusieran un canción para la película. El grupo lo hizo y grabó una canción, "Abre los ojos", su primera canción en castellano. Pero tras escucharla, Amenábar decidió que no encajaba con la película y finalmente fue "Glamour" la canción incluida en la banda sonora de la película.
Tras un temporada sin editar disco, debido en parte a su salida de Roto Records, Amphetamine Discharge publican a principios de 1998 un disco de versiones de canciones de sus grupos favoritos al que titulan "We come to smash this time" y que publica Pussycats Records.
Entre las canciones versioneadas están "Summer in The City" de Lovin' Spoonful, "Denis" de Blondie y "Casi me mato" de Barón Rojo, además de algunas canciones de grupos sevillanos, como la canción de los Smash que da título al disco.
Unos meses después, Amphetamine Discharge publican con Edel (una editorial de EMI) un disco recopilatorio titulado "I just wanna kiss" en el que incluyen canciones de "Parking" y del disco de versiones junto a la canción "Abre los ojos" que no había sido incluida en la banda sonora de la película de Amenábar.
También en 1998, su canción "I just wanna kiss" es eligida por la marca de refrescos KAS como banda sonora para uno de sus anuncios y participan en varios festivales españoles como el Festimad y el BAM.
Las últimas noticias que me llegaron sobre Amphetamine Discharge es que estaban preparando un nuevo disco con canciones propias para ser publicadas por Edel aunque si ese disco llegó a publicarse nunca me enteré ... Y en cuanto al grupo, no sé el momento exacto pero dejó de existir.
Desde finales de 2006 José "Prima" forma parte del grupo Munich 72.
