a live version of the song , recorded in 1996 in new york city. i don't know of any studio version. siberry was at that time doing jazz styled songs, a switch from her previous folk and rock and alternative work (she's one of the few artists, in my opinion , who has taken on multiple genres and and created memorable songs in all of them). this particular performance catches the intensity of the lyrics , the hypnotic intrigue of the music, and the dialogue between siberry and her pianist, showing how well each reads the other's feel for the song. an outstanding piece. the pictures are of siberry in early and more contemporay times. i have not attempted to match any particular picture with the song for effect. it's more a way to meditate on the song itself and just see the singer and imagine the song with no other distractions.
