Tangerine by Edward Bloor (Book Review!) - 167 sec
Tangerine by Edward Bloor Summary: A summary of Edward Bloor's novel Tangerine, about a visually impaired boy who moves with his family to a town in Florida, and who comes to discover how his eyesight became impaired. ________________________________________ This story starts out when Paul Fisher and his family (mom, dad, and Erik, his mean brother) moving from Texas to Florida to a town called Tangerine. When they got there, they realized that the location of the house is very bad because of the constant thunderstorms, and foundation that is termite infested, and the muck fire. After they unpacked, Paul went for a tour in his school, Lake Windsor Middle School. Mike Costello is introduced, along with Joey Costello, who later would become an important character. After that, he went to the soccer team, later, the coach said that because his mom turned in a form that says he is visually impaired (called the IEP form). Nothing else interesting happens that day. The next day however, Erik told his family that Mike Costello got killed at practice because of a thunder. One thing to take notice later is that Erik and his friend Arthur (also an important character) were happy of the incidence, and was laughing and making fun of Mike. Only Paul found out. A few days later, while Paul is at his school, something big happened. Like an earthquake, later, people told him it's a sinkhole. It apparently, opened up and is swallowing a lot of classroom into the ground. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but the damage is big. A big portion of the school is badly damaged. The emergency relocation plan was that he'll go to Tangerine Middle school (fortunately, without the IEP) now, Paul can finally play soccer again. In Tangerine Middle School, many people are introduced. That includes: Theresa, Victor, Tino and Henry. They are all the school's soccer player. Paul also made Joey to transfer to his school with him on the phone. As the story goes on, Paul had some soccer games, and their team became undefeated. Erik also had some football games. As the story proceeds, Joey starts to get sick on the new school, none of Paul's new friends likes Joey, and Joey thought that Paul is as bad as the other people. Joey finally went back to the other school, naturally, dropped out of the soccer team too. Also, some complications includes robberies around the neighborhood, it happens when housed are being tented (that means using poison gas to fill the house the kill the termites and put a tent over it, obviously, the people had to move temporarily.) And the robbers just break in the window, with gas masks. Luis is also introduced. He is the brother of Theresa and Tino. Luis is a worker in his farm field. He developed a kind of fruit called Golden Dawn. One day, Luis went up to Erik, and Erik instructed his friend Arthur to smack him with his blackjack. Luis was fine after the smack, but the affect will come later. A few days later, Luis was found dead, and only Paul knows what really happened, but the other kids suspected as well. At the senior award night, when Erik was getting his award, Tino and Victor showed up and beat Erik and Arthur up, right in front of all the audiences. Paul himself also jumped on one of the coaches to save Tino from the coach's grab. The two of them escaped, and Paul ran back to his house. When he was at the front of his house, he had a flashback from his childhood, on the day his vision got damaged, he realized it was his brother that did it, and he sprayed paint in his eyes, and that his parents been hiding the truth from him (they told him it was that he stared at the sun eclipse until he was half blind, they lied because they don't want him to hate his brother) After that, mysteries starts to unravel, his mom found a gym bag, and in it are all the stolen things from the neightborhood. Erik confessed it was he. Police also arrested Arthur for the murder of Luis. Paul also got expelled from his school, and his mother decided to take him to a catholic school. End of summary. http://www.bookrags.com/essay-2005/10/11/04943/248 No Copy Right Infrigenment intended! song- That's just the way we roll by Jonas Brothers

1 Bloor Year 1 - Demolition - 515 sec
Work continues at the corner of Yonge & Bloor Streets in Toronto, Ontario Canada. The site is being prepared to dig the foundation for a new 80-storey condominium tower. This video is comprised of most of the photos I have taken between February and August, 2008. This set starts with some photos of the removal of the billboard supports from the roof in snowy February to the digging up of some of the basements on November 22, 2008. There are still more buildings to be demolished between the little alley/street that used to be called Roys Square and Hayden Street to the south. These photos are all taken from different angles and locations and at different times of day. Anybody that is familiar with this area of Toronto, however, will be able to work out which direction they are looking from the surrounding landmarks. In a couple of photos, you can see the tip of the CN Tower. That famous landmark has never been visible from this stretch of Bloor as the demolished building predated the construction of the tower. Once the condos go up, I don't know if the tower will be visible ever again!

Biking Tour to Toronto Islands 2007 - Bloor Viaduct - 62 sec
These video clips were taken during my biking tour on July 12, 2007. I rode from Toronto's east end through the Don Valley, underneath the famous Bloor Viaduct Bridge, into the downtown east side of Toronto. I briefly stopped at the Distillery District, Toronto's award-winning heritage and entertainment district that encompasses 44 restored Victorian industrial buildings that have been restored into restaurants, cafés, galleries, unique retail stores and even a theatre. From there I rode to the foot of Bay Street where I caught a ferry to the Toronto Islands, a beautiful quiet and green sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto. After a brief exploration of the residential areas on Wards Island and Algonquin Island I headed back to the mainland where I got caught in a huge thunderstorm and had to ride home for about 50 minutes in the pouring rain. But even that was fun. The clips from this biking trip are part of my "Toronto Favourites" series and many more of these discoveries are to come. I am actually a travel writer, and whenever I am not out of town, I write about the city that I live in: Toronto, a city that has many cool places. I love to get out and explore the city and discover some new cool spots, and now you can enjoy them with me. Feel free to check out some of my 700+ articles and interviews on http//www.travelandtransitions.com. My personal travel stories are located at http://www.travelandtransitions.com/stories_photos.htm. Also, my FREE travel ebooks containing stories from my trips to destinations such as Sicily, Havana, Mexico City, New York City, Chicago, Florida, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Halifax and many others are going up right now at http://www.travelandtransitions.com/ebooks.html.
