Astrobiology Project - 524 sec
Since everyone in Astrobiology did very boring PowerPoint presentations, and didn't do them well, I decided to one-up them with a video. Enjoy this project which includes a parody of Star Trek, among other things. *Video was and is for educational use.

This is part 1 of a 5 part episode. To watch the full show go to my channel (Zuke696) then go to my Playlist, find the show then click Play All - Does life exist on other planets? Astrobiology is a visionary new science that searches for life in space by combining the disciplines of astronomy, biology and geology. How did life evolve on Earth? What will life look like on other planets? These and other pertinent questions will be answered by a diverse group of scientists. Our universe is over 12 billion years old. Planet Earth has only been around for over 4.6 billion years. Therefore there are planets millions and billions of years older than us. So if there's life beyond the Milky Way Galaxy, it potentially could be millions to billions of years more advanced than us.

The Eyes of Nye - 101 - Astrobiology 1/3 - 519 sec
Finally someone insightfully tackles today's issues from a scientific perspective. In Bill Nye's new show The Eyes of Nye, Bill investigates the long-asks question: Does extraterrestrial life exist? How are we working to find it, and what will happen if we do? Bill meets people who are hunting for aliens, visits a "Martian" landscape right here on Earth, and talks with one of astronomy's premier planet finders. Enjoy, please rate and comment. 2001: Astrobiology (Knoll) - 137 sec
One of the three major questions which Astrobiology seeks to answer is "What is the Future of Life?" Toward that goal, we need to consider not only how Earth- based life might survive in space or on some other planet, but also, and perhaps more importantly, we need to plan for the future and survival of life on our home planet. According to Andy Knoll, that future hangs in the balance. Knoll, esteemed paleontologist, and Myers, renowned conservation biologist, published a colloquium paper in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences last year entitled, "The Biotic Crisis and the Future of Evolution." First presented at the National Academy of Sciences Colloquium, "The Future of Evolution," in March 2000, the paper outlines what the authors call 'the biotic crisis' and its potential effect on our planet - not only a possible major extinction event, but also a disruption of basic evolutionary processes, the consequences of which are wholly unpredictable. In this August 2001 interview, Dr Andrew Knoll shared his perspective on the subject - calling the issues into scientific consciousness, and reminding us all of why we need to value and protect diversity not only for our own sake, but for that of the planet and of future generations as well.
