Guitar Hero World Tour Stage Play - 234 sec
WOW 15,000+ views Activision CEO Robert Kotick took the opprotunity to showoff Guitar Hero: World Tour. In the midst of introducing the upcoming game Kotick started to describe World Tour as, "the first time you'll have multiple instruments," before D6 co-host Kara Swisher quickly shot back "it's called Rock Band I think," which sent the crowd into a frenzy of laughter. Whether Kotick meant it was the first time Guitar Hero would have the peripherals or if he was trying to pull a fast one on an audience he expected to have limited gaming knowledge is unknown. What we do know is the people playing the game for the demo, including skateboarder Tony Hawk, could not look more bored. Come on people. You're rocking out! A little passion please.

Activision Anthology - Enduro - 349 sec
Boy, that engine sound gets really annoying. In any case, what really kills me about this game is the sudden change in color. One second, you're on a nice and green background. The next, BOOM, flash of white! And then the next, blackout! And then after that, the fog kicks in.

Activision Classics - Hero - 356 sec
A happy green monster. He's happy even when he dies. The box art, which can be seen in the main menu screen of the collection and on the back of the CD case, has a strange but cool realistic presence to it, sort of reminds me of the first stage of Earthworm Jim 2 for the Sega Genesis. I've also seen the title of this game being an abbreviation. It's debatable, really, since not all sources have it written that way, including the manual I have for this collection. From the manual: "Rescue all the miners possible before running out of lives. One must locate a miner in each level before moving lower in the mine. Mine shafts extend vertically and horizontally deep into Mount Leone. Some dead end; others are blocked by walls. Some walls and surfaces glow blue; these contain magma deposits, molten lava behind the rock. Like lava rivers, magma deposits cost one a life, should one be careless enough to touch them. A heat-resistant raft floats on certain stretches of the lava river. It can carry R. Hero across the river when one lands on it. If R. Hero runs out of dynamite, he can burn through walls with his Microlaser Beam." This is the farthest I've ever gotten in Hero. It's the strangest thing, really. I'm doing better in all of these games, yet I haven't played any of them for at least several years. Unfortunatly, the Microlaser is practically invisible in this video (due to quality of capture and framrate issues, of course). You got lucky there, little bat. I didn't know what to do in the last part of the video where I lost my last life; I thought it was possible to fly over that block.

Another big one...What Atari 2600 owner didn't have this game? Not many, if at all. I would think when I was young that it was the adventures of Jungle Boy against the evil forces of Jungle Girl to conquer the jungle and collect treasure along the way ("College football?"). I'm not really sure if this game is supposed to be spelled with the exclaimation or not. Same deal with Hero, I suppose... In Pitfall, you must guide "Jungle Boy" Henry through the jungle as he traverses through many dangers while trying to collect the treasures. There's a time limit, so you can only go through the jungle for 20 minutes at most. To think that you could see the end... I got log-drilled quite a bit. I also had a couple of walk-ins, which I tend to do a lot, actually. Jumping on the snake was also something I haven't done for quite sometime...A representation of the past.

Activision Classics - Frost Bite - 330 sec
I always thought that Frostbite Baily, because of the way he was drawn, was a Mexican woman trying to bulid the igloos, and her brother Coocoo-ra-cha was setting all this up on her. Everytime she would die, she would yell "COOCOO-RA-CHA!" I did realize that what seems to be her hair is actually his Eskimo hood several times before, but to realize it now, I think he looks so...boring. From the manual: "Help Frostbite Bailey build igloos by jumping on floating blocks of ice. Be careful to avoid these deadly hazards: killer clams, snow geese, Alaskan king crab, grizzly polar bears and the rapidly dropping temperature. Each time Frostbite Bailey jumps onto a white ice floe, a block is added to the igloo. Once jumped upon, the white ice turns blue. When all four rows are blue, they will turn white again. The igloo is complete when a door appears. Frostbite may then jump into his igloo. Frostbite always starts working when it's 45 degrees outside. You'll notice this steadily falling temperature at the upper left corner of the screen. Frostbite must build and enter the igloo before the temperature drops to zero, or else he'll turn into blue ice!" The farthest I've ever gotten in Frost Bite! There were some things that bothered me a little, but it still came out OK. That part where I was mugged by the grizzly polar bear was on accident. I wasn't sure what to do on the later levels, either. The ice floes moved so fast, which is why I died a lot in the last parts!

Activision Classics - Keystone Kapers - 567 sec
I was always so fond of the "Uhh-Uhh-Uhh-Uhh-Uka-Uka-Uka-Uka" sound of Keystone Kelly's footsteps, so much so that I would chant along with them from time to time. I do remember getting this far before, but not so much lately. It's also been getting a little drabby as of late, but it could be a bad time to be playing these Atari 2600 games. From the manual: "Game Objective: Capture the Krook before he escapes from the roof and before time runs out. Game Controls: Keystone Kelly will run to the left or right when you press the left or right Directional Buttons. Kelly will jump when you push the action button. For a long, running jump, press the button while pressing the Left/Right Directional Buttons. Kelly will duck down when you press the down Directional Button. Kelly will step into the elevator when you press the up Directional Button; he'll step out when you press the down Directional Button. The elevator can take Keystone Kelly up and down to any floor except the roof. Place Kelly in front of it and wait until the door opens. Then press the up Directional Button to move Kelly into its blue interior. Press the down Directional Button to exit. Kelly can also ride an escalator just by touching it. An escalator is the only way to get to the roof." DEATH BY PLANES. Yes, I've lost every one of my lives by getting hit by planes. It actually adds a stroke of comedic genius to the whole video. I got hit by the plane by jumping since I though I was on the floor with the radiators. It may seem I killed myself at the end, but really I just forgot to duck.

Activision Classics - Enduro (Part 2) - 495 sec
*I dedicate this video to my first 20 friends.* Yep, yep, this video was originally over 10 minutes long. The good news is that I was able to convert it into .AVI file. Now the videos I record don't have to consume so many megabytes anymore (HOORAY). The race is always such a revolutionary trip. First, it starts in the Grassy Valley, then it reaches the Snowy Area, going into the Dark Swamp/Grass Plains, then to the Mexican Desert, into the Night Street, journeys to the Foggy Mountain, lastly Reaching Daybreak, and it starts all over again with the Grassy Valley. I think this surely is amazing, even for its time. I've never actually intended to get past 3. I've made it all the way up to 4 without any strong efforts (although I think it could've been done better). I can't help but be so good at this game.

Activision Classics - Pitfall (Treking Backwards) - 471 sec
Something as simple as to go left wasn't started in Metroid. To think that I was seeing the end of the game by going that way, but now I know with the time limit, that can't happen. Boo. From the manual: "Game Controls: To run left or right, press the Left/Right Directional Buttons. To jump over dangers, press the X button while running left or right. To climb up or down ladders, press the Up/Down Directional Buttons. To grab a swinging vine, press the down Directional Button at the end of a swing. To collect treasure, just run right over it." I've gotten pretty far in the backwards trek, the --you can guess-- farthest I've ever gotten. Most of it can be thanked by my timing and the vine positions. To explain the phenonmenon, I would have to say it is eustress.
