Got my 5er yesterday, only ever spent 10 mins on a 5er in a guitar shop a few weeks ago before getting this baby, and this was pretty much a recording I made as soon as I got used to her! The solo is some Ed Friedland licks I butchered with some Miller-esque improv going into some more improv using the low B... Then the last bit is a Billy Sheehan bass solo from his Tallas days (I'm no Sheehan as you can tell, and this solo is fresh from last week to me, so give me a few more weeks and I should be able to do it a touch better!)
Mic'd the 15" cab on my warwick stack, and ran into Adobe Audition using EQ, compression, slight reverb and all that to make it sound slightly less embaressing, it still sounds a bit dodgy but I'm still getting used to the bass :) might post some more up once I've fully got the hang of the narrower spacing! Was sort of pressured into getting something up now for some curious bass playing peers.
FWIW, the bass is a Fernandes APB-5 modded with EMG USA pickups, and the amp is an Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp through some random power amp I had lying around and through 12" and 15" cabs.

Amy Goodman interviews Cindy Sheehan, who has just announced that she is stepping away from the antiwar movement after two years of being the nation's most visible critic of the war in Iraq.
She began speaking out against the invasion and occupation of Iraq after her 24-year-old son, Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004.
Cindy Sheehan made headlines around the world in August of 2005, when she staged a camp-out to pressure President Bush to meet her as he vacationed at his Crawford estate.
On Monday, Sheehan announced her resignation as the face of the antiwar movement. Sheehan said she is stepping down in part because of hostility from Democrats, whom she has criticized for supporting the war. Sheehan also cited repeated threats on her life, strains on her health and family, and divisions inside the peace movement.
She wrote, "When I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used. I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace and people dying for no reason is not a matter of 'right or left', but 'right and wrong.'"

On Friday, July 20th, 2007, Anti-War activist Cindy Sheehan and her entourage headlined the Charlottesville Anti-War/Impeachment Rally on the historic downtown mall. A few blocks away the Albemarle County chapter of the Republican Party organized a pro-war contingency and soon after marched to protest at the Sheehan event.
On Monday, July 23, Sheehan and 45 other activists would be arrested on Capital Hill in an attempt to demand the impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
This video is an attempt to give a sense of presence of the Charlottesville protest and does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the Paladin Media Group.

CINDY SHEEHAN JOINS ACTIVISTS PLANNING CITIZENS' PRO-IMPEACHMENT & PRO-PEACE PROTEST AT NEW YEAR'S ROSE PARADE
Los Angeles - California (December 18, 2007) Local and national pro-Impeachment and pro-Peace American citizens will stage non-violent protests and demonstrations throughout the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 beginning at 7:30 a.m. with support from Cindy Sheehan and the Camp Casey Peace Institute. The convergence of activists is called the White Rose Coalition, in honor of the resistance movement in Munich in 1942. The White Rose Coalition includes members of the Los Angeles National Impeachment Center (LANIC), CODEPINK, Troops Out Now Coalition, World Can't Wait, ANSWER, Progressive Democrats of America, the Green Party, Veterans for Peace, United for Peace and Justice, and others.
The groups are calling for impeaching George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for high crimes and misdemeanors, and to end U.S. occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Rep. Dennis Kucinich [OH] has sponsored two resolutions in Congress to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney: H. Res. 333 and H. Res. 799. He is drafting an extended version relating to President Bush. The patriots gathered on January 1, 2008 will be sending a strong pro-Impeachment and pro-Peace message to this Administration in opposition to the continuing occupations of Iraq, Afghanistan and the growing pressure by Cheney and others to bomb Iran.
"This administration has shredded Constitutional protections and is now apparently planning another illegal military strike, this time to bomb Iran," says Cynthia Mather , a spokesperson for LANIC. "The consequences of such an assault on global well-being and security would be catastrophic," she said. "Congress is obligated to act before it is too late. But the Democrats are not making any move to stop it, so impeachment is our only recourse."
"Numbers of protestors and demonstrators from the various groups could be in the hundreds or in the thousands", said Peter Thottam, Executive Director of LANIC . "We expect this to be a national day of impeachment visibility, with folks joining from all parts of the country. It is hard to gauge how many will show up, but according to the latest MSNBC poll, of 584,000 people asked if they thought Bush had committed impeachable offenses, 89 per cent said yes! There is a tremendous level of anger and frustration out there. I doubt if our politicians in Washington D.C. have any idea just how much."

| Mark Sheehan nitro funny car licensing explosion 12.03.2008 - 369 sec
Mark Sheehan and his team were out trying to get the final stages of their nitro funny car licensing completed today at the Perth Motorplex.
On the first pass for the day, the car smoked the tyres almost instantly, then some fine adjustments were made to try and cater for the hot conditions for the second pass.
The car looked to be on a great run this time around getting to the 60' with a .972 short time, followed by a lift before the 330' in 2.59, but when Sheehan had a pedal and got back onto it, then KABOOM!
The Mustang body totally blew off the chassis and into the air and lifted the back end of car at least a metre off the ground before a second bounce lifted it up and away again. Then with some great steering, Sheehan managed to tame his ride back to earth, and thankfully escaped the terrifying incident unharmed.
We wish Sheehan and his team all the best for their next nitro outing.
