At age 60, Ed Rudman was diagnosed with early stage Parkinson's disease. As former Chair of the Board at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, Ed knew who to call: Clifford Saper, M.D., Ph.D., Chief of Neurology at BIDMC.
More than a decade later, Ed is living a full life with his wife Carol and his family, and experiences only mild symptoms of Parkinson's. However, because he knows each patient's case is unique, Ed decided to contribute to the larger fight against movement disorders and neurological diseases. Ed became an "angel investor" to help launch Link Medical Corporation. Ed and his colleagues raised $16.5 million to develop a substance that may stop the progression of Parkinson's—or cure it altogether. Today, Link is conducting safety trials at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and at nine other hospitals across the U.S.
Dr. Saper and all the neuroscience physicians and researchers at BIDMC are committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for patients with neurological diseases and conditions, while searching for leading-edge treatments and cures.
