"The Priests" At The Vatican recording Worship Music - 69 sec
http://www.thepriests.com The Priests visit the Vatican on their journey to produce one of the finest modern albums filled with praise hymns. The recording is produced by Mike Hedges(Dido/U2) The Priests in the Press On April 23rd, 2008, three Irish priests made the news, as they signed a £1m contract deal with Sony BMG. The Priests is a trio of three priests from the Diocese of Down and Connor. The Priests consists of Father Eugene O'Hagan and his brother, Father Martin O'Hagan, as well as their old friend Father David Delargy. In a manner fitting for three priests, the contract deal was signed on the steps of Westminster Cathedral in London. The trio is excited about their opportunity to bring their music to a wider audience. They are singing music inspired by the church and their first album consists of music from the Latin Mass. The album will be recorded in several locations including London, Prague and the Vatican. It will also feature traditional and classic hymns, such as Ave Maria and O Holy Night, in four different languages including the traditional Latin. The album will be produced by legendary London music producer, Mike Hedges. Hedges has worked with numerous artists including U2, The Cure, and Dido. He has also worked on the music of several movies including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As Hedges has become more selective in the projects that he takes on in the interest of spending more time with his family, The Priests having the opportunity to work him is a true honour and the resulting album is bound to be magnificent. Since the signing of the contract, The Priests have been featured in several newspapers such as The Times, Irish Times, The Universe, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Catholic Times and more. They have also been featured on the BBC, ITV, UTV, RTE and Sky news. It's not everyday you see a trio of priests signed to a music contract deal and the press is definitely letting their presence be known to the world. Additionally, The Priests now have their own YouTube channel as well at www.youtube.com/thepriestsofficial. The site will feature behind the scenes footage of the recording of the album. In an effort to ensure they stay focused on their goals, The Priests insisted that their contract include a clause that allows their parish duties to go undisturbed. They will still work fulltime as Parish Priests and will tend to their religious community, whether they are needed for christenings, weddings, funerals and mass services.

Jupiter sounds (so strange!) NASA-Voyager recording - 599 sec
From an original CD: JUPITER NASA-VOYAGER SPACE SOUNDS (1990) BRAIN/MIND Research Fascinating recording of Jupiter sounds (electromagnetic "voices") by NASA-Voyager. The complex interactions of charged electromagnetic particles from the solar wind , planetary magnetosphere etc. create vibration "soundscapes". It sounds very interesting, even scary. Jupiter is mostly composed of hydrogen and helium. The entire planet is made of gas, with no solid surface under the atmosphere. The pressures and temperatures deep in Jupiter are so high that gases form a gradual transition into liquids which are gradually compressed into a metallic "plasma" in which the molecules have been stripped of their outer electrons. The winds of Jupiter are a thousand metres per second relative to the rotating interior. Jupiter's magnetic field is four thousand times stronger than Earth's, and is tipped by 11° degrees of axis spin. This causes the magnetic field to wobble, which has a profound effect on trapped electronically charged particles. This plasma of charged particles is accelerated beyond the magnetosphere of Jupiter to speeds of tens of thousands of kilometres per second. It is these magnetic particle vibrations which generate some of the sound you hear on this recording. Visit http://www.inner-net.com/bmr/bmrpg2aa.html for more sounds.

swissair crash recording part 1 - 475 sec
Air traffic control tapes of Swissair Flight 111 have finally been released after a legal battle that went all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. The ATC tapes, released by the Canadian Press, have not been made public since the 1998 crash that killed 229 people. The tapes contain hours of recording including the final dramatic 12 minutes of the flight before the aircraft plunged at high speed into St. Margaret's Bay, N.S., near Halifax. "Swissair one eleven is declaring pan pan pan we have smoke in the cockpit," one pilot said. "Pan pan pan" means there is an emergency on board the aircraft, but that there is no immediate danger. Later, another said, "We are declaring emergency now" (this can be heard on part four of the audio link to the right). They were told they could commence the fuel dump, discussed altitude and the approach to Halifax airport with air traffic controllers. They were asked to advise when it was complete. There was one last garbled "hello," then presumably electrical failure cut off communications. About six minutes after the last transmission, everyone was dead. The MD-11 aircraft left New York for Geneva on Sept. 2, 1998. The aircraft smashed into the dark water off Peggy's Cove at 10:31 p.m. Atlantic Time at an estimated 550 kilometres an hour, killing everyone onboard and shattering the plane into literally millions of tiny fragments. The impact of the jet hitting the water made seismographic needles in Moncton and Halifax flutter as if an earthquake had struck. Vic Gerden, chief investigator into the crash, said families of the victims have not yet heard the audio although they were briefed extensively at the time of the disaster. "I don't recall them having the opportunity to listen to the tapes,'' Gerden, who retired last year, told the Canadian Press from Winnipeg. Some family member predicted the tapes would be hard to hear, even after so many years. "These things bring an event back to people, the family members, who've put a lot of time and distance between the crash ... and their losses,'' Miles Gerety, who lost his brother Pierce in the crash, told the Canadian Press from his home in Redding, Conn. "I think it would be hard to hear.'' After the crash, the Transportation Safety Board refused to release the ATC audio, saying it contained personal information. John Reid, then Canada's information commissioner, initially supported the refusal. "In my view, the voices, along with the tonal and emotive characteristics, constitute personal information of three air traffic controllers and the two pilots,'' he ruled in 1999. Reid eventually reversed on his decision after he received complaints about the board's refusal to release audio from four other air disasters. He fought the board and Nav Canada all the way to the Supreme Court, which eventually ruled the transmissions should be released to the public. The ruling brings Canada in line with countries that have allowed ATC recordings to be available for years. *If anyone wants teh transcripts you should get in touch with me directly.
