Here's what De Gregori said about the album:
« ..mi aveva proposto di lavorare insieme dopo avermi conosciuto in un locale di Roma, il Folkstudio.
Passammo quasi un mese da soli nella sua bellissima casa in Gallura, davanti ad una spiaggia meravigliosa dove peraltro credo che non mettemmo mai piede: in quel periodo avevamo tutti e due delle storie sentimentali assai burrascose ed era più o meno inverno. Fabrizio beveva e fumava tantissimo e io gli stavo dietro con un certo successo. Giocavamo a scacchi, a poker in due: ogni tanto prendevo il suo motorino e me ne andavo in giro per chilometri. Al mio ritorno spesso lo trovavo appena alzato che girava per casa con la sigaretta e il bicchiere e la chitarra in mano e che aveva buttato giù degli appunti, degli accordi. Era uno strano modo di lavorare il nostro: non ci siamo mai messi seduti a dire «Adesso scriviamo questa canzone». Semplicemente integravamo e correggevamo l'uno gli appunti dell'altro, certe volte senza nemmeno parlarne, senza nemmeno incontrarci magari, perché lui dormiva di giorno e lavorava di notte e io viceversa.
Le musiche ci venivano abbastanza facilmente - Fabrizio era un eccezionale musicista - e le registravamo su un piccolo registratore a pile.
