EVER OSL 2008 Group Selection [09 May, 2008] @ Part 1 - 6198 sec
I'm writing for non-Koreans to fully understand as my english that I'm trying to close a language barrier between Korean and non-Korean outside. This VOD as shown 963.18MB file has taken a great deal of time to upload about 10 hours and killed myself as hell. Flash, who has been last Bachuss Champion, has got up earliest of all them and has the chance to exercise his first seed right to face off against GGplay who's placed the first name by him dated 9 May, 2008 here at Yong-San I'Park Mall eSports stadium in Seoul, South Korea. FlaSh has designated him because FlaSh wants to probably meet back at him, also FlaSh said "I have the cards in my hands, so I can beat whoever I meet". As you know, his desire to become a winner was frustrated by GGplay when it was semi-final on Daum StarLeague 2007. GGplay took "TheRock" into Group A, and TheRock strongly tied "Sea[Shield]" into Group A finally. Stork says : I have no idea why anybody wanna keep out of the same group with a teammate, so I would bring "Janbi" into the same Group B as me, by my second seed right. Group B is expected to be all ProToss as Janbi selected "BeSt", but BeSt just thought it over and took "[ReD]NaDa" inside. Luxury says : Recently there are too many matches, but I would like to pick "July" up easy to deal with my third seed right from day one of round 16. Luxury has selected "July" despite the fans, OGN Caster, and commentators' demand that should be YellOw[Arnc] into Group C. Even though July did let twin match out of last Bachuss OSL, July rather just brought YellOw[Arnc] into Group C. YellOw[Arnc] has selected "Rumble" and then, Group C could be for keeping four zergs (ALL Zerg Group) because OGN StarLeague brings down the curtain on "Race Distribution Rule" with each group. Bisu[Shield] says : to knock "InteR.Mind" down and to get back on "InteR.Mind", I personally put him on same group D and I made a deal by "a return match" as the Finals of last GomTV MSL Season 4. That's what InteR.Mind firstly has selected "Rumble", but he changed his mind later on as Mind said "I didn't know Bisu[Shield] belongs to SKT T1 with "Rumble", so I would take "Much" into Group D". BackHo has got no choice finally but just be Group D inside. This Group Selection of EVER OSL 2008 goes like clockwork in entirely new ways and it did reach first twin match ever, but the majority of Group Selections have progressed favorably without difficulty. ▼ As my point of view : - Group A will really be quite interesting for you guys because Bachuss Champion vs Daum Champion would happend a violent clash between Terran and Zerg who can administer a long-range operation better, and also I shouldn't like to say whether TheRock can get over the two Terrans, FlaSh and Sea[Shield]. - Group B will be very tough. BeSt will be a fuckin' smile playing about last match, set 3 of round 8 from Mong-Hwan II as repenting of his missing a chance. If one memory goes back to you guys, just look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzHLqaakgDY - NaDa is so quiet playing against any protoss players. He's probably thinking that my terran can run deeper than Tech-Toss, Stork, BeSt, and Janbi. - I would like to tell you guys that Group C will be finished in a short time. The crack in Rumble zerg armor is that he can't concentrate on delicate micro playing against any races. I think He must be a short-range plan with a huge zerglings. - Luxury is the best ZvsZ out of three zerg players, but his little brother YellOw[Yarnc] is the worst and his operation is not properly made out. - Bisu would probably say : Oh how happy I can decide to play InteR.Mind one day. There was no sorrow there was no pain even though I couldn't advance to the round 16 of Arena MSL. Beating "InteR.Mind" out when it's first match, sunshine comes to my play. - Group D will fix your eye on pretty solid Protoss vs Terran, Bisu vs Mind. Bisu recently seems to be in a slump, but he might be as firm as a rock since he did play against "FlaSh" if it came a realistic possibility. - EVER OSL 2008 will launch "Starwars" during 3 months after the first match : FlaSh vs GGplay in May 14 2008. ■ 7:30 pm, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 ■ Group A - FlaSh vs GGplay - (Hwarangdo) Group B - BeSt[WHITE] vs [ReD]NaDa - (Troy) Group C - Luxury vs July - (Othello) Group D - Much vs BackHo[WHITE] - (Andromeda) ■ 6:30 pm, Friday, 16 May 2008 ■ Group A - TheRock vs Sea[Shield] - (Troy) Group B - Stork vs Dream.t)Janbi - (Othello) Group C - YellOw[Arnc] vs Rumble - (Andromeda) Group D - Bisu[Shield] vs InteR.Mind - (Hwarangdo) ■ 7:30 pm, Wednesday, 21 May 2008 ■ Group A - TheRock vs FlaSh - (Othello) Group B - Dream.t)Janbi vs [ReD]NaDa - (Andromeda) Group C - Luxury vs YellOw[Arnc] - (Hwarangdo) Group D - InteR.Mind vs BackHo[WHITE] - (Troy)

SlayerS_`BoxeR` VS GARIMTO @ 2001 SKY OSL Finals Game 1 - 2481 sec
"GARIMTO (Protoss, Kim Dong Su) is like the Boxer of Protoss. He invented the archon splash on Zealots to kill Lurkers. He was possibly the first to do proxy Reavers. One famous game VS st.eagle in Sky 2001 he actually made the robotics for the Reaver at st.eagle's natural expansion. Another famous play was when he mind controlled an Overlord instead of teching to Observers. (Not shown on a TV match)." - FrozenArbiter, Sweden. EVER 2008 OSL Finals Commentary by Moletrap, Klazart, and Cholera Game 4: July - purple Z 5 BeSt - blue P 10 Map: Hwarangdo Game 5: July - orange Z 7 BeSt - teal P 2 Map: Othello Winner Interview: - You obtained the Golden Mouse by winning 3 finals ▲I have previously states in my previous interviews that with wins comes the Golden Mouse. I have not tried to win in order to obtain the golden mouse. It is actually the same thing but I believe the meaning is different. Anyways I tried my best and I am happy that I won. -You showed very fear some all-in strategies ▲My belief in best of 5 series is not skill but your mind. That is why I 5-pooled in my first game. I have lost 0:3 in my 2 previous finals through all-in strategies by the opponents. Because of those attacks I remember I was unable to focus. That is why I used it against my opponents this time - You showed very strong match ups against protoss ▲Because I am a zerg player I believe I am strong against Protoss. I have always been strong against protoss. Although I said I was confident in winning 3:0 I really wasn't (laughs). I believe I am strong against protoss because of my confidence. -In your 3rd match Andromeda weren't you at a disadvantage? ▲I was not really at a disadvantage. I was able to kill corsairs easily with scourages. I just patrolled my scourages but the corsairs suicided into my scourage. If the protoss has many corsairs it is hard to defeat them. I made many more scourages since corsairs are scarier than reavers. -You attempted a drone-drill in game 2 ▲I prepared for game 1 and 3 and did not really prepare for game 2,4, or 5. I lost too many times in maps for game 2,4, and 5. In game 2 of Best vs Luxury, Best's build was very weak towards the drone drill. This is why I used the strategy. -During your stay in SK Telecom your record against best was 5:5 ▲During that time the 5:5 record would be the result of normal games. If Best played if it were normal games today, I probably would not have won easily. However, today was the Finals where mind-control was very important, which is the reason why I believe I won. -Because of your 2 waivers, you had a rough time. ▲There were many unfortunate events. I thought of quitting programming at an early age. However, my parents told me "It isn't the time yet, try a bit more". After moving to STX, the coaches and the players treated me very well. I quickly befriended my teammates and played numerous games with them. STX is a very nice, the coaching staff isn't bad as the rumors. I think my personality fits with the team. -People say you were lucky with the lack of terrans in this season ▲To tell you the truth I think I really was lucky. To be a zerg and not meet any terrans is already accomplishing half of your goals. However, to the people who believe I won the OSL because of luck is like insulting the players I have beaten. The players I have beater were players who have beaten terran players. To insult me is like insulting the players I have beaten. I still think that I was lucky. -You have good jinx of winning when it is hot ▲I play well when my hand is sweating. That is why I turn off the air-conditioner in the booth when I play. Because my play is better when it is hot, I believe my records are better too during the summer. I was able to win during the month of July(laughs) -You are the first STX member to win ▲STX does not pressure me on bit. They tell me to relax and play like how I always play. Since the 3 months I been in the team, they have not pressured me one bit. They have not forced me to play, and all my practices were voluntarily. This also helps me to become a better player. -Your next season's goal ▲Confidence is always the best. However if you lose horribly after winning, it becomes a troublesome situation. First, I want to beat a lot of terran players. In the next selection, I would like to pick the strongest terran. However, I cannot pick my teammate Hwasin. I have lost too many times to Hwasin, and his TvZ match-up is too good. -Your last words ▲My next goal is to win tomorrows Proleague playoff game. I will practice harder to win the proleague and also try to win next season's OSL. Although I have won, I do not think I am the best. It is different from what I previously thought. I believe I have more to learn and try to win next season. I will be perfect if I win next season. My ultimate goal is to be recognized with players such Boxer and NaDa. Stork vs Flash @ OSL (3rd Place Match, Bo5, Games 2-5) - 2336 sec
July 18th 2007, Daum OSL 3rd Place Match Games 2-5: Stork[gm] vs By.Flash Game1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQeZ0Q1IRcw Set 2 @ Hitchhiker Set 3 @ Monty Hall Set 4 @ Fantasy Set 5 @ Python I have very little time to write something up, TONS of things to do before the OSL finals starts (2 hours fron now, 19:00 Korea time, thats 10:00 GMT, 12:00 CET, 06:00 EST, you can watch it live on www.sc2.org or www.yaoyuan.com/live.php ), just going to write a couple sentences and upload this nice set. Game 2 is a work of art :-) Winner of this Bo5 takes the desirable 3rd seed. After a tough grueling season both players are tired, both players want to secure their spot for the next season, and you can count on it- both players will bring their top game to avoid the 4rth seed battle of survival. Loser would face Rock on the 20th in the Star Challenge semi-finals, of which the winner will face Jaedong on the 25th in the Star Challenge finals, for the 4rth seed! You can also take a look at the live report thread @ TL: http://teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=56539 SPOILER Below (winner interview) * ** *** **** ***** ****** ******* ****** ***** **** *** ** * Translated by Nocturne for teamliquid.net, thanks! ;-) Q: You have gotten the 3rd seed. A: Because there is a difference between the 3rd and 4th seed, I wanted to win. But honestly, I was not able to practice as much and the maps were difficult, so I came to the conclusion that I couldn't do much. On top of that, Lee Young Ho (By.Flash) is a player I want to avoid - so there was the added stress. I don't know how I won. Q: The first, second set were close showmatches... A: I was very lucky in the first set. When the vulture came into my main, I thought my opponent saw the stargate and fleet beacon. And so I thought I lost. But at the right timing, he did not push out. Later on, I found out that he was not able to see the fleet beacon. After, I thought my condition was good, so I did not spend as much attention to control. I was taken aback since I had never experienced the second set strategy during practice. Today's concept was on countering a 2 factory build. I was beaten by a 2 factory build by Iris at the OSL semifinals, yet I do not know how to effectively counter this build. To be honest, I still don't feel as confident against a 2 fac build. The reason I built a scout was that I had money left over from not having to cancel my stargate, and having my gateway destroyed. But when I saw Flash's main, his scv count was low, so one scout could be a very annoying thorn in the Terran's side. This plan came to fruition, so I am satisfied. Q: The third set was a normal standard victory. A: The Protoss have a winning record on this map, but I felt that had I gone with a standard build, Flash would have defeated me. So I took the economy road build order, taking many expansions and securing money. The fourth map is very difficult, so I played with the mindset that if I did not win on the third map, I would probably have to go to the fifth set. Q: This season's starleague has concluded for you - is there any regrettable match? A: Yes, the Ro4 semifinals popped into my mind first. I should have thought much about what strengths and weaknesses I have against my opponent, and utilized an accompanying build order, but I was too confident. Today was a difficult victory, but I don't feel confident playing against Terran. Q: You received the seed. A: If I had received the fourth seed and not received first in the Star Challenge group, I would have had to probably play against sAviOr, a very difficult opponent, or play against Kim Dong Gun of my team. And having the elimination final matches up front, I felt that I would not be able to focus 100% of my energy into those matches had I not won. My teammates, despite having our proleague match tomorrow, helped me greatly. I kept telling them that I would buy food for them one time, but I still have yet to keep that promise. Now, I will go back to the team house and buy them food. Also, Reach and I promised each other that in the Ro8, whoever wins will buy food for the other, but I was so busy I was not able to call him yet. There is still some time before our proleague match opponent is to be decided, so in case you are watching this, let me know what would be a good time for food (towards Reach). Q: What are your goals for next season? A: I am working hard, but I feel that I myself do not have the skill level yet to achieve first. I will work even harder, and after securing our Proleague victory first, I will work towards improving my skill towards the finals next season.

Game 2 of the Quaterfinals of the Ongamenet Starleague (OSL) Matchup between Bisu and Flash on Monty Hall played on June 29. iloveOov vs JulyZerg - OSL Finals - 1111 sec
To decide the ShinHan OSL champion of 12/2005 to 03/2006 iloveOov vs JulyZerg @ Ride of Valkyries One of my favorite 2005 games, once Julyzerg starts the lings rush he doesn't stop, for long minutes the rush continues, it really seems to last forever! always 4 waves of lings on the move toward Oov's base, July spends every mineral he has on the rush and Oov spending every mineral he has on blocking it, and both players break dead-even after every wave- only to start the next one again. Oov has to use every last bit of micro skills he can master in order to stop the attacks from doing more damage than he can handle coming for the next wave that arrives yet again. Some very tense minutes of battle! (I can tell you that watching it Live was a real thrill), the player who came out victorious in this game- also came through in the remaining games and won the OSL champion title.

Zergman vs JulyZerg @ OSL - Game 2 - 694 sec
October 4rth 2006, ShinHan OSL2 R16, Best of 3, JulyZerg vs Zergman @ Arcadia II Every game in BO3 is played one week apart. July won over Casy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu6Cj1H0qWc ) but lost to Midas and Anytime in previous OSL weeks, therefore fell to the wildcard brackets where he beat JiHyun[jOypOp] and Ever)P(TT ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxe1Je-SuCo ), Zergman on the other hand beat Sea.Jy and Light[Alive] and only lost to NaDa, and finished 2nd in his group. Players with 3-0 victories in their group get to chose their opponents for the BO3. No one chose July, and Zergman was more than glad to get him, because Zergman's ZvZ is godly: "I don't lose ZvZ" Zergman plays purple, July plays white Interview with JulyZerg after the match: ** SPOILER ALERT ** Q: You have won after a loss. A: Winning is always joyous. Although it's a day before Thanksgiving holidays, many teammates stayed and helped me prepare the match. I am very grateful. I have won because of them. Q: Your recent ZvZ winning percentile is poor. A: I can not say that I am strong against zergs but I do not think I am weak against them either. Since ZvZ is a build(tech) fight no matter who the opponent is, the match is always fifty-fifty. I have won this match because I had to win. The next match is also a must win match. Q: Your opponent's zergling struck first. A: If they had come to my base right away, I would have had to cancel my hatchery. They have made a stop in some other base first and I was able to defend it without cancelling. Q: If any, have you focused on particular matter while practicing? A: I was about to use a different strategy. It's win ratio was 100% during the practice. When burrowing and unburrowing zerglings continuously they merge into one point. Then my zerglings would not be killed if I fight with the same number of opponent's zerglings. I didn't use it because it's controversial on defining whether it is a bug or not. I wish I can publicize this and let it be defined whether or not it's a bug. I will return to dorm, save a personal replay, and post it in forum. Q: At what point have you assured yourself that you won? A: Since there was only a small gap on how fast the spire was being built, when I have produced Mutalisks I thought that I won. If I defended, I felt that I can win with the lead that I had with attacking with zerglings. Q: To all the fans spending Thanksgiving A: I wish all a happy Thanksgiving. Since I am spending it in Seoul, I will practice through the holidays and win the third match. After I have made it to quarter-finals, I will reap the 1st place trophy in WCG Italy. Big thanks to rinizim from TL for translating the interview :-)
