Máirtín Tom Sheáinín - Bríd Thomáis Mhurchadha - Geantraí - 176 sec
'S a Bhideach na gcarad, tuig feasta nach súgradh é Mar go dtug mo chroí gean duit, ar a mhalairt ná diúltaigh mé Má shíl tú mé a mhealladh le bladar deas ciúin do bhéil 'S go dtug mo chroí ghean duit seachas cailíní óg' an tsaoil. A Bhríd Thomáis Mhurchadha, ó, molaimse an barr leat féin Ar fhinne, ar ghileacht, ar áilleacht is deise méin Do chúilín deas triopallach 's é fite ina thrilseáin óir 'S an té a bheadh gan amharc go dtabharfadh sé soilse dhó. 'Gus rachad go Gaillimh nó go gceannaí mé gairdín úll Nó loingeas ar fharraige le haghaidh bheith a' déanamh spóirt Ar fhilliúint ó Shligeach dhom 'gus leid bheag 'fháil dhen chóir 'S ní chónód faoi bhealach nó go mblaisfinn dhe phóg mo stóir. 'S má bhí mise folamh 's dar m'fhocal gur mhór a' scéal Is gur liachtaí bean óg deas a thug taithneamh do ghlór mo bhéil Dhá mbeadh sé 'cur shneachta, a' cur sheaca sa gach ceard faoin spéir Ach tusa a bheith i m'aice 's ní aireoinnse buaireamh an tsaoil. A Aonmhac Muire 'chuir an cuileann thríd a' bhféar a' fás Nach mise an trua Mhuire 's mé a' caill' lúth na ngéaga le grá Ach má tá sé 'nár gcinniúint nach féidir linn a chéile 'fháil Bíodh tusa in do choinneal 's beidh mise i m'fhéileacán. Oh, my dearest Bridget, understand it's no fun any more Since my heart grew fond of you, in return don't refuse me If you thought to entice me with the sweet quiet words of your mouth But my heart grew fond of you more than all the young girls of the world. And Bríd Thomáis Mhurchadha, oh, I praise you as the best For fairness, for brightness, for beauty and for gentle mien Your long curly tresses all woven like strands of gold And anyone without sight, they would give light to him. Oh, I'll go to Galway to buy an apple orchard Or a fleet on the sea, so as to make sport On returning from Sligo with a little help from the wind, I'll not stop on the way till I taste my darling's kiss. And if I were penniless - and on my word, that'd be a fine tale - And many a nice young woman who enjoyed the sound of my voice, If it were snowing and frosty in every corner of the earth, With just you to be near me, I'd not mind the troubles of life. Oh, Mary's own Son who set the holly 'mid the growing grass, Isn't it a great pity, me losing my strength over love But if it's our destiny that we may not have each other, Then shall you be a candle and I will be a moth**. ** Moth, or alternatively butterfly, or bachelor (can even mean homosexual in today's Irish). Buíochas do staidmheidhreog do na liricí seo. http://ie.youtube.com/profile?user=staidmheidhreog Geantraí 22-06-07 www.tg4.ie http://www.geocities.com/celticlyricscorner/teada/brid.htm

'S dá mbeinn trí léig i bhfarraige Nó ar sléibhte i bhfad ó thír, Gan aon ní bheo a bheith in aice liom Ach an t-aiteann agus an fraoch; An sneachta a bheith a' séideadh ó thuaidh 's ó dheas 'S an ghaoth a bheith dhá shéideadh díom, 'S mé a bheith 'comhrá le mo Teaimín Bán 'S níorbh fhada liom an oích'. 'S a Mhuire dhílis ó, céard a dhéanfas mé Má tá an geimhreadh seo ag teacht fuar. 'S Mhuire dhílis, céard a dhéanfas An teachín is a bhfuil ann? Nach é 'n truaí mé a bheith scartha leis Ag teacht 'un na huaire breá Nuair a bhíonns an chuach ag ceiliúirt Is gach duilliúr glas ag fás. 'S má bhíonn mo chlann sa mbaile agam An oíche a bhfaighidh mé bás, Nach dtórróidh siad go caoitheach mé Trí oíche agus trí lá; Beidh píopaí fada geala acu 'S na ceagannaí a bheas lán, 'S tabharfaidh Páidín Mór go Maínis mé Nó is garbh a bheas an lá. MÁIRTÍN DE CÓGÁIN - 343 sec
BALCONYTV.COM 23/03/2007 PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT Mhairtin grew up in Carrigaline, Co. Cork. He went to Mary Mitchell's tin whistle class for a few years until he moved off to a different place of knowledge, as he couldn't read or write. Martin soon grew up and discovered the world and learnt to read. In 2002 Martin ventured around the globe visiting many and varied Leprechauns until in Australia he was offered a gig for St. Patrick's Day 2003. In February of the New Year (2004) while Martin was in LA, visiting his girlfriend Mitra, he got a call asking would he like a gig of his own in the magical Lobby Bar. He jumped at the offer. Next thing was to find a band! Very soon after The Fuchsia Band trio performed in the Lobby Bar, where they celebrated (with an OK from the Bishop) the world's first last dessert, handing out hot cross buns to everyone. From there their group sprang onto the scene, bringing Irish Traditional music, story, song and dance everywhere we went! Recently Martin appeared in the award winning Wind That Shakes The Barley! www.myspace.com/mairtindecogain www.thefuchsiaband.com Tune in tomorrow!!!

Ó 's nach iomaí maidin Domhnaigh 'chaith mé súgach deas go leor 'Dhul soir le mo luichtín móna 's dhá chúrsa i mo sheol mór Níor ghéill mé riamh do mhúr ar bith dá dhúinte dá mbeadh ceo Go dtéinn ag caint le plúr na mban bhíodh romham sa mbaile mór. 'S mo ghrása í Máire Ní Ghríofa, is tú rí-bhan thar na mná Níor iarr mé riamh a' cnaigín ort nach líonfá dhom a' cárt Nuair a théinn isteach go n-íocfainn thú 's ní dhéantá dhíom ach greann Is mo ghrá ní scarfad choíche leat go dtí 'n geimhreadh th'éis do bháis. 'S dhá bhfeicfeá bád chlann Dhonncha gach lá dhá dtéadh sí 'un seoil Ó phlúchfadh sí an fharraige 's ní fhliuchfadh sí ceann seoil Bheadh tús ar chuile gheála aici nuair a thagadh an lá mór Is nach ndíolfainn mo luichtín móna 's mé 'comhrá le mo stór. 'S nuair a fhágfas mise an áit seo is nuair a fhágfas mé na báid Ó chaithfidh mé oíche i Maínis 's dhá oíche ar a' Trá Bháin Ar fhilliúint ar ais arís dom beidh mé oíche in Eanach Mheáin?
