Don Quixote - Gordon Lightfoot - V43 - 218 sec
Don Quijote de la Mancha (IPA: [doŋkiˈxoteð̞elaˈmantʃa], but see spelling and pronunciation below), fully titled El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha ("The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha") is an early novel written by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Cervantes created a fictional origin for the story based upon a manuscript by the invented Moorish historian, Cide Hamete Benengeli. The protagonist, Alonso Quixano, is a country gentleman who has read so many stories of chivalry that he descends into fantasy and becomes convinced he is a knight errant. Together with his earthy squire Sancho Panza, the self-styled "Don Quixote de la Mancha" sets out in search of adventure. The "lady" for whom Quixote seeks to toil is Dulcinea del Toboso, an imaginary object crafted from a neighbouring farm girl (her real name is Aldonza Lorenzo) by the illusion-struck "knight" to be the object of his courtly love. "Dulcinea" is totally unaware of Quixote's feelings for her, nor does she actually appear in the novel. Published in two volumes a decade apart, Don Quixote is the most influential work of literature to emerge from the Spanish Golden Age and perhaps the entire Spanish literary canon. As a founding work of modern Western literature, it regularly appears at or near the top of lists of the greatest works of fiction ever published[1] and is the best-selling non-religious, non-political work of fiction of all time. Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind - 200 sec
This haunting classic which sets the perfect tone of depth and purpose. Lightfoot is indeed one of the most profound lyricists of his time, describing feelings with words that speak metaphors of ghosts and movie stars bringing to life his view in a way few could.

Triangle - Gordon Lightfoot - Sailing Ships Ballad - 263 sec
The sea & ships..and a sailor's love for beautiful ladies and mermaids..and Gordon Lightfoot the troubador..can there be any better combination of fine music and story-telling in a song..that can make you close your eyes..lay your head back..and dream of a misty ocean voyage of the mind and soul..that soothes your heart and relaxes your mind..in a way that only Gordon Lightfoot can croon?..I don' think so..he is a living legend who sings like a tale-spinning minstral..and in a manner that makes you wish the song would go on forever..whether you watch the slideshow of gorgeous ships..or you close your eyes and allow the music wash over you like the ocean waves he sings about..this seafarer's tale will cause his adoring fans to smile..and dream of ocean voyages of the soul-soothing kind..thanks always to Gord for sharing his craft with so many for going on 5 decades..we love you Gord..we really do..Mike kk Triangle Oh the gist of it all is the first day of fall is the day when my ship will set sail The best of all friends will say good-bye again there's still time for one last glass of ale We'll sail away proudly, our backs to the wall on a southwind and lots of good cheer And when we've looked over the white cliffs of Dover, We'll be in Bahama next year From Bermuda on down the Triangle around us will teach us a lesson or two There's many a mate who unevenyly stated the course he had charted was true "Don't worry 'bout me," he said "Go down below, give a certified sailor a turn, Just sip on your rum or I'll give you my thumb and say, son you got something t' learn!" It's a mighty hard way to come down And a mighty fine way to be found So hand me my grip from an old sailing ship Put the kiss of the dawn on my lips With some luck tonight I might have her at my fingertips Oh the best of all things is the first day of spring when when the water runs heavy and fast The mermaids have all gone to Davy Jones' Ball And it seems their first trip was their last They had so much fun They don't wish to return to the beach where they lay all day long They'd rather stay under And boy it's no wonder When all the rock lobsters roll on It's a mighty fine way to be found Triangle Triangle Oh see my ship dangle We're bound for Bahama my friend Like lovers like danger Like babies like mangers But that's where my storybook ends Like soldiers of fortune, believers in God And all kings without crosses to bear All sweepers and cleaners with no misdemeanors Should try the triangle out there It's a mighty hard way to come down And a mighty fine way to be found So hand me my grip From an old sailing ship Put the kiss of dawn on my lips With some luck tonight I might have her at my fingertips When she took her last tumble The sea bottom rumbled There was no confusion or blame The captain said "Men we must answer again to the sea so ye may not complain" And as they lay sleeping down there in the deep With their faces turned up to the stars A tuna fish turned To a mermaid in bed and said "There goes another sandbar" It's a mighty hard way to come down And a mighty fine way to be found So hand me my grip From an old sailing ship Put the kiss of the dawn on my lips With some luck tonight I might have her at my fingertips

May I - Gordon Lightfoot - V70 - 147 sec
"May I" caught my attention the very first time I heard it. I initially thought vintage toys and games would be a perfect accompaniment, but this one is all about the children and for the "kid" in each of us. ~~ Lynn Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot , his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ May I (Did She Mention My Name) 2:19 Finders, keepers, losers, weepers Ring around the rosy and I'll catch you if I can But if you don't say "May I", then you'll have to start again But first you must indulge me and count from one to ten Let the game begin I adore you when you touch me Pin the tail upon the donkey, you will surely win But if you don't say "May I", then I'll pass the cake around And I won't give you any, but you won't make a sound You don't eat soap, anyhow Red light, green light, blue light, yellow light You can take three giant steps or a baby step will do But if you don't say "May I", then I'll march you out the door Where you'll be contemplating the numbers one to four I hope you're keeping score 'Cause if you don't say "May I", then I'll get you with the hose And spoil your Sunday clothes Will it please you if I tease you While you're at the spin-dry, I'll pass the pie around But you won't make a sound You don't eat blackbird anyhow There's four and twenty reasons why it can't be wrong How long have you been gone Finders, keepers, losers, weepers Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater Wear your sneakers around sound sleepers. Christian Island - Gordon Lightfoot - V20 - - 205 sec
Christian Island mp3 from the In-deb-ted Lightfoot Library... Georgian Bay is in the heart of Gordon Lightfoot, especially in his song Chistian Island. This island created a protected lee from the westerlies where it is a good safe harbour area. Gordon sailed the waters of Georgian Bay in his boat " Silver Heels" which is featured in this edition. To the First Nation Huron's Christian Island was known for millenia as " Gahoendoe". tj Link For online discussions about Gordon Lightfoot , his music and related topics http://www.corfid.com/ Link to Gordon Lightfoot website maintained by Wayne Francis http://www.lightfoot.ca/ Christian Island Lyrics Artist: Gordon Lightfoot (Buy Gordon Lightfoot CDs) Album: Don Quixote I'm sailing down the summer wind I got whiskers on my chin And I like the mood I'm in As I while away the time of day In the lee of Christian Island Tall and strong she dips and reels I call her Silver Heels And she tells me how she feels She's a good old boat and she'll stay afloat Through the toughest gales and keep smilin' But for one more day she would like to stay In the lee of Christian Island I'm sailing down the summer day Where the fish and seagulls play I put my troubles all away And when the gales comes up I'll fill my cup With the whiskey of the Highlands She's a good old ship and she'll make the trip From the lee of Christian Island Tall and strong she slips along I sing for her a song And she leans into the wind She's a good old boat and she'll stay afloat Through the toughest gales and keep smilin' When the summer ends we will rest again In the lee of Christian Island Note to All Viewers: This Tribute Channel is for the sole purpose of sharing the experience of the magnificent music of Gordon Lightfoot.
