Otherwise, this won't make a whole lot of sense.
This is an idea I've had floating around in my head for - oh, well, since Order of the Phoenix was released. I've always been intrigued
by the previous members of the Order; not quite sure why, just have been. Anyway, this video flirts around an idea I've developed over many a sleepless night that the old Auror squad was largely KIA during VW I, and I really wanted to make a video/write a fan fiction that centered around them. Well, the video came first. Essentially, it depicts a current (OoTP/HBP-era) Kingsley Shacklebot who, when faced with the return of Voldemort, keeps confronting the memories of his fallen comrades, and decides to keep fighting in an effort to make their deaths mean something. Well, it sounded better in my head, but that's the general idea.
I used clips from "Homicide: Life on the Street" (fabulous television show) for the Auror Squad. Frank Pembleton (Andre Braugher) is Kingsley Shacklebot, Kay Howard (Melissa Leo) is Marlene McKinnon, Tim Bayliss (Kyle Secor) is Gideon Prewett, and Meldrick Lewis (Clark Johnson) is Caradoc Dearborn. I've always been of the opinion that the Auror squad wasn't exactly a police force in and of itself, so much as it was the elite of the wizarding police force. I centered on these four characters largely for time constraints, but I also wanted to mirror JKR's repeated use of groups of four.
Clip-wise, I used one of the scenes of Harry and Cedric during the fourth task to depict the death of the Prewett brothers Fabian and Gideon, because with the clips blurred and darkened, Kyle Secor and Cedric look alike. Also, I used the scene with Barty Crouch Jr. stomping through the wreckage of the Quidditch World Cup to show
Shacklebot's resolution to fight on, or some such nonsense...whatever, I thought it fit well with the mood. Suffice it to say, that's not
supposed to be Barty Crouch Jr. stomping, it's Shacklebot.
I think that's it. The rest should be pretty self-explanatory. I hope you like it, this is my first ever Harry Potter video, and the
first video I've ever done using Vegas Editing Software. They should get a little better as I get more practice with the difference in
controls and technique.
