Acompañadas por la canción J'attendrai, que interpreta Asier Etxeandía (Enrique García, marido de Blanca, en el filme), se nos presentan imágenes del rodaje de la película "Las 13 rosas" (2007), que dirige Martínez-Lázaro y tiene a Pilar López de Ayala, Verónica Sánchez o Marta Etura como algunas de las protagonistas de un amplio y prestigioso reparto.
La cinta nos devuelve a la memoria unos hechos trágicos acaecidos realmente en 1939 en Madrid, cuando, con la represión franquista de la posguerra, trece jóvenes mujeres inocentes fueron asesinadas por "adhesión a la rebelión", paradojas macabras de un régimen dictatorial impulsado por un golpe de Estado.
Éste es sólo un acontecimiento de los muchos que tuvieron lugar en los momentos posteriores al 1 de abril del '39, con la guerra terminada, pero es un símbolo representativo de todos esos horrores silenciados.
No llegó la paz, sino la victoria.

Escena de la película de Emilio Martínez-Lázaro "Las 13 rosas" (2007), trabajo que refleja la tragedia real vivida por trece muchachas poco después de terminar la guerra civil española.
Madrid en las postrimerías de marzo de 1939. La guerra da sus últimos coletazos con los bombardeos finales sobre la capital.
A la espera de la inminente entrada en la ciudad de las tropas golpistas, en el Café Europeo los músicos tocan como despedida ante la desvandada de simpatizantes del bando republicano que se prevé. No obstante, aun con el oscuro panorama represivo a la vista, muchos jóvenes están dispuestos a seguir luchando contra el fascismo en la clandestinidad.
Enrique García (Asier Etxeandía) interpreta con sus compañeros de orquesta el tema "J'attendrai", que parece dedicarles a dos de los presentes en el local: su mujer Blanca (Pilar López de Ayala) y su hijo Quique (Nacho Fernández).
Esta escena imagina un posible encuentro casual entre varias de las "rosas" (Blanca Brisac, Adelina García y Julia Conesa), quienes ni en la peor de sus pesadillas podían imaginar que meses más tarde su destino quedaría unido en un único final dramático.

I fell in love with this beautiful song when it was first posted by 240252. When pastelblues asked for an English translation, I applied my meagre linguistic abilities and created this video using the same soundtrack.
The drawings are colorized versions of 1920s clipart, most from La Vie Parisienne. Except the last, which is all mine.
DISCLAIMER
I am only an amateur linguist, so if I've made any boners, tell me and I'll alter the video. At least I tried.
In an effort to let English speakers know what the original words meant, I've chosen to let some phrases sound clunky if "streamlining" them would have meant changing the meaning too much.
It would be fun to write an English version of the song. In my Googling I found four versions (the original Italian, plus German, Spanish and French) but no one seems to have done it in English.
I hope you like the video.
